The facts have yet to emerge and if the article is accurate it is not yet certain that the blaze was, in fact, arson or if it were arson that it was set by Tamils or their sympathizers. Who knows, it could have been fringe elements of the British Labour Party (yeah, right).
However, one has to question the behavior of the Tamils leading up to this, showing up en mass waving Tamil flags and making a show of force which could only be construed as intended to intimidate the owners and patrons of the restaurant.
Perhaps some of the lefties could enlighten us as to how serving Sinhalese food at a restaurant in Brampton constitutes a threat to the Tamils requiring that they “defend” themselves with such shows of force and intimidation tactics.
The civil war is over over there.
It is just starting here. The LTTE thugs who squeezed “taxes” from the Tamil’s in Toronto need another “reason” so they can continue their activities. Running a protection racket might just be the ticket – “pay up or we’ll let them burn you out”

On Wednesday two Sinhalese men were doused with acid when a gang broke into their home in Sydney. Police officials believe the violence was linked to the conflict in Sri Lanka.
The attack followed several brawls in Sydney believed to have involved members of the expatriate Tamil and Sinhalese communities. Five people were arrested.

I was being facetious but, come to think of it, “tribal dysfunctional and narcissistic” actually associate nicely with the Liberal Party of Canada.
It’s a lot safer for tamils to fight here than in Sri Lanka where they might get hurt when somebody shoots back. It fits neatly with my opinion of ethnic anger about a situation in the homeland; it’s suppressed guilt about leaving instead of working for change.

Exactly my sentiments and I wonder if they will — seeing as they were posted at the LTTE demonstrations to protect the protesters and didn’t do very much to clear them off Toronto streets when they were disrupting Toronto traffic and businesses.

Yes of course I realised that. What I find intriguing is the absence of any reports of vandalism/ arson by non-immigrants. It seems as though arson and vandalism committed by immigrants is worse than arson and vandalism committed by non-immigrants. I find that very odd. Arson is arson, regardless of the perpetrator.

Mark Steyn pointed out an interesting fact in his great column this week in Macleans. If the population of Sri Lanka is just 21m and the tamil percentage is 13.8% giving about 3m tamils how come Canada ended up with about 10% of the total population of tamils? How did so many come here from 13,000kms away in just a few short years?
My fear is are the rest of the tamils in Sri Lanka going to join them here?

The Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam commonly known as the LTTE or the Tamil Tigers is a militant organization based in northern Sri Lanka. Founded in 1976, it has since actively waged a violent secessionist campaign that seeks to create an independent Tamil state in the north and east of Sri Lanka. This campaign has evolved into the Sri Lankan Civil War, one of longest running armed conflicts in Asia. Since its formation, the LTTE has been headed by its founder, Velupillai Prabhakaran.
The Tamil Tigers are currently proscribed as a terrorist organization by 32 countries (see list of countries). The LTTE has carried out more suicide bombings than Hamas, Islamic Jihad, and al-Qaeda combined. The LTTE are the only rebel organization known to have possessed aircraft.
Over the course of the conflict, the Tamil Tigers have frequently taken control of territory in north-east Sri Lanka, engaging in fierce confrontations with the Sri Lankan military in the process. They have also been involved in peace talks to end the conflict four separate times, each time unsuccessfully, and at the start of the latest round of peace talks in 2002 they ran a virtual mini-state in areas under their control. However after the breakdown of the talks in 2006, the Sri Lankan military launched a major offensive against the Tamil Tigers, bringing a vast area under their control and limiting the Tigers to a 55 km2 area in the Mullaithivu District.
As a result of this offensive, there is increasing belief that the final military defeat of the LTTE is near, although they may launch an underground guerrilla campaign if defeated as a conventional force. There have also been growing calls for the LTTE to surrender, including a joint statement issued in February 2009 by the United States, the European Union, Japan and Norway, which said there was “just a short time before the Tigers lost all the territory still under their control”.

When did they try to take over India? They are originally from India. They even have a state named after them, and that state was named long before the Tamil separatist movement in Sri Lanka began.
