  1. When I first read of the Acorn connection, the corruption and the Empty Suit’s involvement, I breathed a sigh of relief. Obama’s done thought I. Silly Hick from the sticks. Little did I know that the NYT would bring their broadside to bear.
Always wondered why TV, Radio and Newspapers were the first things taken over during the revolutions that I read about. Don’t wonder anymore.

  2. As has been mentioned here many times before, being on the left means that you are automatically righteous, which then subsequently justifies any behaviour, because after all, aren’t you fighting on the side of all that is good?
    Bah.

  3. This is exactly why we need to kill off the national media. As much as I detest the Canwest Global bunch, and don’t hold CTV much higher, one of the reasons they exist is that local TV can’t stay afloat against the CBC. By poaching programs, and sucking millions from the taxpayer, the Corp. weakens all media in Canada.
The natural progression was for media to consolidate until it became monolithic. Add in Licensing issues, and the survivors were the ones that adjusted their ideology to fit within the biases of the ‘Natural Ruling Party’. Just about the time the media got the dialogue down pat, we, the people woke up, and voted in the Conservatives, albeit with a minority. Rather than adjust the message to meet this change, being monolithic, the media marginalized themselves with the voters, and watched hopelessly as their customers fled to the internet, particularly the blogosphere.
Some in the media caught on, and tried to adapt, Sun Media in particular seems to be sniffing the air while wondering where to go, and is allowing much more freedom to individual writers. Some are drinking more Koolaid, such as by a certain fashion writer we noticed recently. Some are daring to challenge the ‘Official’ positions, I note particularly Lorrie Goldstein with his ongoing challenge to the AGW Fascists.
Jim Shaw has gobbled up some of the failing TV stations, and there is no indication he intends to alter the content in a meaningful way yet. The Global empire is in effective bankruptcy, only having been propped up to help reelect Campbell’s liberals in BC. Having done that, we can probably expect it to be pillaged by the hedge funds and broken up.
As to answers, there are ways to solve this, but without a majority in Parliament, and a lot of pressure from the grassroots, we aren’t going to see meaningful change any time soon. After seeing Toronto and Montreal manage to destroy newspapers and television in Canada I’d like to see a grassroots organization formed to hash out the best way forward, and to become the national voice for the Rest Of Canada. I will put some of my thoughts on line at
    http://www.freetochoose.ca later.

  4. In 2004 the Democrats could barely muster up 59 Million Votes, but then in 2008 they found 69 Million Votes, a 10 Million Vote surplus.
    You don’t do that legally.
And, did ya’ll hear that in Chicago the authorities will not be releasing the Children’s names that have been killed in drive-by shootings, or any Gang related killings.
Haha, I guess they don’t want to give up any future Democrat Voters.

  5. The New York Times hiring an independent ombudsman is like Enron hiring an independent auditor and we all know how well things worked out for Enron.

  6. In fairness the MSM had much bigger issues to deal with, like Sarah Palin’s daughter’s boyfriend’s blog comments.

  7. The faster the Times dies the better for the World. This is the same crap pulled by our own so called “journalists” that has destroyed Canada & its institutions by blindly following political ideology over the real news to its readership. Indeed for years they tried to cover the sleaze up of the Liberals. For true believer reasons, or just plain opportunistic gambits to see them in the Senate or Governor General. Its a far gone conclusion that their dying because most folks have conned onto their little Political gerrymandering racket. If not the fact they present the readers with lies or obstrification in order to pervert the real news for personnel agendas. Papers we have learned are not in the news business. There into Utopia & socialism as the god of choice.
These are not reporters, but political prostitutes acting for their ideological Masters.
Glad they are dying! More Mark Steyns, less Maureen Dowd’s the plagiarist. The stink class also holds them in thrall. The condescending cannibalism by words shown Sarah Palin , or a Joe the Plumber by even conservative elitists was shameful , yet still goes on. It showed the arrogance & entitlement of this class like nothing else. These are not news people, but social parasites pretending at work.

  9. Is ANYONE surprised at this story? I’m not. Not even a tiny, weeny bit.
Anyone who still refers to the NY Times as “The Paper of Record” surely must have just left the hospital after a lobotomy operation!
P.S. Kate, perhaps it’s now time to post that photo of the NY Times lobby I sent you!

  10. “far gone conclusion that their dying because most folks have conned onto their little Political gerrymandering racket. If not the fact they present the readers with lies or obstrification in order to pervert the real news being known for personnel agendas.
“a foregone conclusion that they’re dying because most folks have cottoned on to their little political gerrymandering racket. And they also present the readers with lies or obfuscation in order to prevent the real news being known for personal agendas.”
    I do my best.

  11. hudson duster, Revnant Dream is a great guy but he doesn’t like others’ editing his copy … a few of us have tried, especially concerning they’re, their, and there, but to no avail. At least you can figure out the gist of what he’s saying … 😉

  12. Just last week, at Iggy’s coronation, it is reported that I,Ruby told her friend Judy (Pizza and a lap dance) Sgro that the Toronto Star had a story on her but was waiting for Iggy’s throne accention before releasing it.
One must conclude without a doubt that it was to prevent tarnishing the new leader on his quest to form the next Librano kingdom…
So, I’m not surprize one bit by the NYT’s. It happens all the time up here with our leftydumb medialand.

  13. Another story they’ll kill because it makes their new God look like a Class A dufusThe Congressional Budget Office is now projecting Obama’s deficit this year will be $1.85 Trillion. They also say this number will likely increase.
The last year of the Bush administration, his deficit was just over $400 Billion.
So Obama is running a deficit this year that is almost 500% greater than Bush and Bush was excoriated by the Dumbocrats, their MSM lackeys and the entire Leftoid blogspohere.
So a 500% greater deficit and not a peep out of the MSM. And that’s just for next year . . . it gets worse the longer Obamassiah has Executive signing authority.
Another killed story ? You betcha.
To put it into perspective, PMSH’s government will run a deficit of about $20 Billion next year.
If Canada was “following” Obama’s lead, that deficit would be $185 Billion. That would be 900% increase in our deficit to do to Canada what Obama is inflicting on the USA.
Wanna bet that won’t be a story written in the Red Star or the Glib & Fail. And t won’t be a highlight story on CBC Pravda, Peter Pansbridge won’t touch it and you won’t get a hint of it on CTV.
All the news fit to hide from the public because the dinosaurs figure it is better to protect their friends than tell us the truth.

The best you can do is to school-marm another posters work? What a fine contribution. On balance, I’d say Revnant Dream has you out-classed.

  15. to me..my humble ‘umble self..i think “far gone’ has double the literary wallop of ‘foregone’..
poor auld simple langwidge is forever changing in accent and sleight of hand interpretations BUT…it’s the Ideas that are critically important..THEY are aeternal..
    such as were intuited.
an example …”if you don’t work you don’t eat”
makes perfect sense….or doth it not ?
    discuss.

  16. It was never JUST the NYT that pitched in to bury the stories about the various scumbags in the Obama camp.
The only role that the NYT played that differentiated them was “Lead Soprano”.

  17. And BTW …. this story is as old as the election.
At the time … and well before the (2 months ago) ‘revelations’ at the congressional hearings… the dealings between Hoyt and Moncrief were written about and published in the MSM and in the Blogs.
What should NEVER have been let go of was dropped down the memory hole by EVERYONE …
Now … Does that make this NEWS again?

  18. I believe it was also NYT that published an article by Obama and refused to publish the rebuttle by McCain — saying something like “not relevant”. I really do not recall the exact details of their shallow excuse. What appalled me at the time (and still does) was how their actions showed a lack of respect for a fair process — so what if McCains did not exactly fit their editorial requirements? The decision made them look like shallow, hypocritical manipulators — and now we discover that is exactly what they are.

  19. Revnant Dream/hudson duster.
Sorry Glasnost, I”m with hudson, this is not some picayune typo, and though we all make mistakes, his are atrocious and show no attempt at improvement.
Boy am I in for it now!

  20. re Glasnost
I also appreciated the “translation” by hudson duster. Revnant Dream is almost unreadable without serious editing.

Oh dear, hd …….. Are you now suggesting that we have created a hierachy of non-contestable egos here on sda?

  22. I think it was in an article of late by Christina Blizzard where she again made the stereotypical remark about bloggers working in the pajamas in their parents basement. How hilarious. Does not the MSM see what is happening to the information flow nowadays? The charade of newspaper’s impartiality is being blown out of the water. It isn’t so much that people are turned off by the bias in the media but that many get cheesed off when the media pretends their bias ain’t there.

  23. I do beleive that newspapers–over the last few decades–have greatly distorted reality. It’s sad in a sense that killing stories, letters to the editor etc. and placing their own spin on news items has all but destroyed them. Yet in spite of their downfall, they just don’t learn. They keep doing the same things over and over!

  24. OK, I will weigh in on spelling here now too
I think it’s worth it for people to hear once in their life about they’re/their, its/it’s, loose/lose, and a few other common things
If they choose not to learn and use correctly, that’s their choice
It’s not against the law to walk around with spaghetti sauce on one’s chin, but it’s always better to clean it up before venturing out
Content of course trumps all, but if linguistic rules are violated, it detracts from the argument

  25. Owe deer me! Seams that four sum reason witch no won hear nose, their’s controversy wear buy plane speak is knot scene as a preferable jean characteristic. I wander why? Hay, wood it bee write two rays a soar point or too? I could sight won, too, for, maybe ate cases of braking…….
Aw chute! This isn’t going anywhere and I can’t think of anymore homonyms to drag it out further beyond the rediculus.
Except to say, Revnant, a grate poster, but I can’t disagree with hudson either.

  26. The funniest part of this dippy article in the Washington Post is where Howard Kurtz says Newsweek’s new business model involves “discouraging renewals”. They plan to cut their subscription base but raise prices. What genius!

  27. While spelling and grammatical errors can be annoying, distracting and certainly do detract from the thoughts behind the words, the reality is that there are brilliant individuals all over North America that haven’t perfected either. I used to “schoolmarm” my folks’ correspondence until that fact became undeniable.
That doesn’t mean I don’t believe our education professionals have dirt on their hands. The buck starts with the parents and ends with the teachers. But, that’s probably another post.

  28. Rev.Dream’s comments are consistently some of the best on SDA IMO. In the past I’ve been puzzled by his grammar but I figured the RD doesn’t care, so why should I. “Comments” is not a writing exercise; therefore, if you communicate your ideas effectively it’s good enough for me. When grammar gets in the way of what you’re trying to communicate(new) then you have issues.

  29. Indiana Homez :
    Hard to gain knowledge of grammar when you learned to read from Comic books. Because so called “Teachers” just passed you on. Because most didn’t give a hoot about mentoring children . To them it was just a job to propagate Liberalism. It doesn’t help that your Mother was a Widow at 28 with 4 kids. I was not going to comment Indiana H. until I read your kind remarks which where appreciated after all the self righteous where finished. (O:}
As for putting in some of the oddities, its just my way of putting my native accent into the thought . We pride ourselves in being “Good Ole boy’s” in Alberta.
If some think this is bad lol, try reading my posts from 1996 on AOL Canadian Politics message board if they are archived. Besides folks I’ve never claimed to be a writer, good or bad. In fact I used to laugh when folks used to kid me saying I was the worst on AOL for spelling(before spell checkers). Most are still good friends even went to visit some of them in the USA. My user name was Rhaines@Aol.com.

  30. RD
I’m from Edm living in S’toon now. Growing up I was fortunate to have some excellent teachers that allowed me to be me, they didn’t indoctrinate me, they challenged me. My jr.high social studies teacher went the xtra mile/km every week and ignited my passion for politics, and my country. I often say “to this day, I still don’t know if he is/was a socialist or a capitalist, but I do know he was a damn good teacher”.
    FYI
Sometimes I don’t have enough time to read all of the comments so I cherry pick and scan. Due to your writing “style” it is easy to quickly determine it’s you, and I always make sure I read your comments. Keep up the good work; and remember, wier all pore righters compared to ET.

  31. speaking of asteroids, it has been recently posited that the dinosaurs were victims of their own success, i.e. numbers great enough for rapid spread of their own little swine flu thingie.
    the truth will out.
in any event it was NOT a deluge 4000 years ago. how anybody in their right mind can buy that primary-school-foldout-10-page-story-fantasy is itself a ‘miracle’.
