My grandmother’s sister Florence was nearly 5 feet tall. She raised 11 children in a 576 square foot farmhouse with no running water.
I can’t recall ever hearing of her fainting.
(Correction: Cousin Meat says it was 10. Maybe. Or maybe they just stopped counting)

Ho Hum !!!!
Yup. Yawn. Where’s your blog, bleet? Or Mommy not let you get one?
Little bleety is just mad because conservatives have cooler relatives than him.
Besides, bleety is being raised by a nanny.
Since we’re on the subject of grandmothers and fainting:
My mom was the youngest of 12 kids raised on a farm. Her mom died giving birth to No. 13 (who also died), so the oldest girl, at 18, was promoted ‘Mom’ by default. She was very much a Florence in her own right. The kids would sleep 3 to a bed, no central heat, no running water, and a outhouse.
Can you now imagine a 18-year old running a household and raising 9 younger kids?
There was usually enough food on the farm but for a few years during the Depression there was a plight on the potatoes, sick animals, etc. and my mom would regularly faint at school – did not eat enough. Also, the youngest 3 kids, all girls, only had 2 pairs of boots between them, so the girls took turns going to school.
I always smile when I hear people nowadays complain they have a ‘tough’ life. They have no idea.
(Correction: Cousin Meat says it was 10. Maybe. Or maybe they just stopped counting) – As I was told the poor dear wasn’t aware of the cause until after the first 3…
