  1. As a pseudo-aside, I bought a new Ford truck last week, and it’s equipped with Sirius Satellite Radio. Mark Levin hosts a show on Sirius Patriot 144, which is brilliant.
In fact, the whole channel is brilliant: Mike Church, Mark Levin, Andrew Wilkow, Sean Hannity… it’s like a breath of fresh air.

  2. I just started listening to Mark Levin since Obama’s election. The man is abrasive and rude on air, but an intellectual who articulates the mess that Obama and the left are promoting. He makes a lot of sense in an insane world. I may have to go to Chapters and buy his book with my Christmas gift card. Hannity did a terrific interview with him last week and his tv personna is quiet, soft and very persuasive. Look forward to reading his book.

  3. If you’re speaking of fiscal conservatism, absolutely; if you’re speaking of that fringe group of religous zealots that sees political power as a way to force their views on everyone else (in the same way that Saudi Arabia operates), they do nothing but drive the much larger group of fiscal conservatives/social libertarians away. That’s the situation much of the GOP finds itself in today, and they’re going to be stuck there until they decide they want to govern for the ENTIRE country.

  4. Yukon Gold. Welcome aboard the Sirius bandwagon. Let’s just hope the “Fairness” Doctrine doesn’t see the light of day.

  5. We have a huge amount of conservative sentiment in the US right now. The problem is that it exists in the minds and the hearts of the people, it exists on talk radio, and it exists almost everywhere except among Republican politicians.
There is less divide among social conservatives and financial conservatives than Canadians might think. Basically conservatives generally are in agreement about the same things. And in fact it’s a coterie of moderate Republicans who have animus against conservatives.
These moderate Republicans live, work, and breathe air in the same circles as Democrats, and as such, they share a lot of Democratic illusions of sophistication. However, numerically they are insignificant. All the numbers are with conservatives who don’t have many distinctions between social and fiscal matters.
So far no American politican has come forward to give leadership for this huge amount of conservative sentiment. There are a few notable politicians, but nobody has really caught on. The Republicans in the House are offering low-key political dissent, but no new Newt Gingrich has arisen to nationally articulate the conservative position.
Conservatives are growing in number and in the ferocity of opinion and demand that a strong stand be taken.
If someone can emerge to lead all this energy, it will be something to see, but right now leadership is on the radio.

  6. Levin is very loud and rude, but right much of the time.
PS: The Ottawa Chapters ran out of Ezra’s books at his signing earlier this week :-0

  7. Maybe CNN cannot afford to cover storys that are a mile from the HQ now Kate.
After all, they are now in 3rd place behind even MSNBC. Of course the two networks together do not match Fox’s ratings.

  8. Yes, SDC be very cautious of those fringe religious zealots that talk hope and change because they might lead the States down a horribly destructive path.
    Oh wait…

  9. Greg in Dallas: Your so right, Mcain was a war hero, and for that he deserves respect, but his campaign was pathetic, there were so many times he could have zeroed in on this empty suit community organizer, but backed away. Fred Thompson or Mitt would have been the ones to vote for if Mcain had got the hell out of the way.

  10. Kathy…Kate still has not told us where she had lunch and got the hint from the Vast Right Wing Conspiracy HQ.
Could Ottawa be the HQ of the VWRC!!?
    What’s happenning there Kathy!!!?

  11. I think US conservatives are now that the socialist blueprint has been spelled out by the Dems and Obama getting into gear. My email is flooded daily between the organizers of the Tampa and St. Pete Tea Party groups. There are lots of discussion about vetting and supporting fiscally conservative candidates with each local/state/national slot that opens. What’s fascinating is that this is happening away from the inept RNC.
Greg in Dallas, I agree wholeheartedly that Republicans have a leadership vacuum, oh, and add an image problem. The RNC threw Mitt Romney under the bus early in the primaries. If they had applied any foresight it was pretty obvious that Americans were voting economic issue, not primarily defense issues, McCain’s only claim to fame, by election day. McCain wasn’t trusted by conservatives nor was he up to the task. What a waste. Not that Bush fatigue wasn’t a factor.
I find abortion repugnant, but, I am not stupid enough to think it can be overturned at this point in time anywhere the west. Gays which I don’t think are degenerate people, simply wired differently, have civil contract protection on the books so they don’t need to hijack “marriage” as our culture traditionally defines it.
I could give a rat’s a$$ what consenting adults do in the privacy of their homes. I bet most “conservatives” agree with me. We’ve been painted with a brush as intolerant which we don’t deserve and if we want to recapture voters that have been brainwashed by the lefty media’s portrayal of us we better start getting that image corrected.
I’m betting even the most obtuse Americans will get all that’s wrong with Obama as their wallets are hit. 2012 will not be such a cakewalk for him.

  12. I think that Conservativism, and that’s the ideological basis of the Founding Fathers, is the basis for a productive economy and a fair and just society.
Socialism is unable to produce wealth. Totally unable to produce anything. All it can do is take from the producers and redistribute those products…until, as others have pointed out, socialism runs out of the wealth.
Why do societies, in a kind of pendulum swing, move into socialism? Into a socioeconomic system that like leeches, like parasites, destroys the production capacity of a people? Who wants socialism?
The non-producers, the non-workers, the ones who want to be kept by someone.. possibly…but what’s the percentage of such people? Primarily, the ones who want socialism are the so-called ‘intelligentsia’, the government funded professionals in academia and the civil service. They want socialism because it sets up a two class state; the intelligentsia who are the Guardians who Rule..and the Ruled.
And these are the majority in the cities – eg, in Canada, in Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver, the domain of the Liberals.
Most people – except these socialists – want freedom – to work, to think, to interact. Most people – except for socialists – want a basic societal structure based on mutual respect and common basic values. That is, they want a middle class…something socialists don’t want.
Obama and the Democrats are destroying the ability of the middle class to function. It is heartening to see the rise of this class, with their Tea Parties, their blogs, books, and television – insisting that a socialist nation is not America.

  13. I’ve long been a big fan of Levin. Sure, he’s not everyone’s cup of tea but it’s beyond amusing to hear the American equivalent of Olivia Chow, Jack Layton, Libby Davies, and Stephane Dion call him up and make THE STUPIDEST points ever, complete with invented facts.
For anyone who hasn’t heard Levin before you can listen to his free podcasts here.
Wouldn’t it be nice if there was a Canadian-lite version of Levin on CBC even 10% of the time? I know, I know, a mere fantasy on my part!

  14. Yes, bluetech, we SHOULD be afraid of anyone who claims that they’re doing “what god told them to do”, and they take that as a guide to force that on anyone else; that’s a recipe for disaster wherever and whenever it’s been tried, and when they come as close to taking over a mainstream political party as has been the case in the US, it should scare the pants off of anyone who gives a damn about their civil liberties.

  15. I agree with you, SDC. But in making such a statement then you must also also take an identical stance re unsubstantiated claims about Global Warming, yes?

  16. Absolutely; the claims behind “global warming” are far more explainable by other processes, and the only reason many of the supposed “supporters” of this bunko are willing to attach their names to it is because they look at it as a meal-ticket and source of funding.

  17. Hey Folks, the video Kate posted inspired me to watch Sean Hannity’s recent interview of Mark Levin. I liked it so much that I posted both YouTube videos.
To which I just received this comment from “Anonymous” in Calgary. I’ve left the spelling intact. Want to bet that this little diaper-wearing thug was one of the ones out on the streets of Calgary earlier this year shouting “Down With Israel”?
    Here’s what he/it wrote:
Wannabe israelofacist American rightwinger..who’s petrified to move there.
    Typically conflicted antiCanadian.
    Hates the country, but wouldn’t
park his pathetic ass anywhere else on the planet.
…Truh hurts…..Well, for your ilk it does 🙂

  18. Is Mark Levin going on CNN to talk up his book. I’d love to watch him befuddle Liberal Larry. Could you imagine him on the View? Or Olbermann? Now that would be must watch TV.

  19. Hey, Penny, re: your comment @4:58 PM- “I could give a rat’s a$$ what consenting adults do in the privacy of their homes.”
Well, to a point, but what if these acts involve actions such as internet kiddyporn, or abduction/rape/torture? is that still ok? Depravity cannot be excused just because of the relentless decline of human morality. We’re almost beyond the slippery slope……and into the liberal credo of anything goes if it makes you feel good.
It concerns me, and btw, it’ll be awhile before I’m ready to accept the gay lifestyle as something so unbelievably honorable and something to aspire to, as is so often portrayed these days.
Just another push by a misguided special interest group. But guess what? they’re winning.

  20. “Sean Hannity – taking the jobs CNN won’t do!”
sarge here we must be talkin about a blow job

  21. Hum…..
Viewing the video of the line of people, I do not see a lot of blacks. Did’nt spot one actually. Can you?
But racism had nothing to do with Obama becoming prez right?

  22. Hmmm.. you didn’t see any whites in the line of the Walmart Stampede during the Holidays, either. Just like you don’t see any hollywood celebs outraged about the flooding situation in North Dakota.
