1. jlc, this is exactly right. I foresee lots of MSM coverage in the near future pounding any and all “right wing” media types, from broadcast to print to blogs, as horrible racists. They will manufacture proof in exactly the same way they did against Limbaugh the other day, splicing together sentences.

2. Hmpfff. I can see why monkey jokes are offensive to black people.
Plastic surgeons can help you with those ears Brock. Unfortunately you are stuck with the cranial capacity…

3. Jimbo: Many people were offended … so what? That taking of “offense” is simply part of the grievance industry and used to silence speech and as a weapon. The Left and Muslims are masters of this.
Freedom of speech includes the freedom to be insulted.

4. Jimbo is talking about the conservatives in his head. Fortunately for Jimbo, it is perfectly easy for lefties to post racist comments on right of center web sites when the actual racism they are hoping for fails to appear. Anybody who thinks that Obama wrote that monstrosity, BTW, is suffering from an insurmountable IQ deficit. I don’t think the cartoonist thought Obama wrote the “Intergenerational Theft Act”
But does this mean we get the “smrikingchimp.com” domain name now to make fun of Obama? Didn’t think so.

5. Jimbo,
You cannot stop someone from reading something into that cartoon, but I think you need to go looking for the criticism.
The fact that people find offense isnt enough to say it is was meant in that manner. What was in the news, the Chimp who attacjed a woman and was shot by police, and the stimulus bill and then add in the 100 monkeys on a 1000 typewriters cliche and you get the cartoon.
So what is going to happen at the first potest where President Obama is burned and lynched in effigy….it has been done to every US Presient, regardless of political stripe, since I have been wtching politics, and that stretches back to Nixon.
I hear you point but at some point the offended are offended for the wrong reasons, and apologies that the offense was never intended need to be taken at face value. Why there is a refusal to accept an honest apology and increased calls for resigniations etc is beyond me…it just looks like more of the same and runs in nice contrast to Holders ill advised remarks.

6. as I posted a few days ago about this comic.
whats good for the georgemachimpeebushhitlergoose is not good for the obammessiahgander.
obambamsee would actually be a good one for his ears and their location. obamabo?

7. Barak Obamba “The savior” of the American economy.
Contributor, to the failing economy sparked by the subprime loans to minorities that could “never afford their own homes”, and needed to qualify for fraudulent loans with fraudulent claims.
So what should a young black racial political activist do? Sue the banks and force lenders to provide loans to “minorities” that could never repay the loans, of course!
http://iusbvision.wordpress.com/2008/09/30/obama-sued-citibank-under-cra-to-force-it-to-make-bad-loans/
http://www.americanthinker.com/2008/10/what_really_happened_in_the_mo.html
Now this ambitious “thinker” born in the politics of the south side of Chicago linked to radical activist groups such as Acorn, the black panthers and individuals such as William Ayres will save the economy. Probably with a little advice from his newly “proud of America” wife and thrown under the bus racist pastor Rev. Wright.
Yup the answer is now going to be almost a Trillion dollars in foreign borrowed money that most likely won’t be lent, or printing off a Trillion dollars of useless bills not worth the price of the ink and paper to make them.
And the left only worry’s if someone is calling him a monkey or not! I could think of allot worse characterizations personally…………………..

8. of course a real politic junkie would note that since Obama did not write the stimulus bill he could not possibly be the dead chimp.

9. Jimbo, I live in the South. I’m not a Canadian ex-patriate. I’m a native Texan, and I haven’t been out of the South, except to go to Chicago, in 25 years.
The affiliation of chimp to race does have a certain fading cache. Twenty year ago it would have meant a lot more than it does today.
It’s a bit like “redneck”. It once had a sting, but now has faded into a cultural low-wattage reference.
So chimp could probably still have quite a purchase amont blues musicians with an evocation of nuances primarily focused in a earlier age, but it doesn’t have much to do with blacks and whites working and living in next to each other as we now do.
In the real New South you’re just as likely to have counter-racism references being more predominant.
Ludacris just won an award and thanked all of the white people out there for buying his rap records. Black rappers have basically changed the whole connotation of the n-word.
Now half the little white southern boys and girls want to be a (n-word). I’m not typing the word because I don’t think it will get past Kate’s filters.
It’s a different world in the South these days. And the old stereotypes rarely apply.

Well said!
“It’s a different world in the South these days. And the old stereotypes rarely apply.”
That is of course unless you want them to still apply, as the race baiting left would like. Including the entitlement crowd of course because that would mean……….well an end to entitlements!

11. jimbo – I’m afraid I don’t get your points.
You state that you find my comments reasonable and that therefore I ought to do you the ‘same courtesy’ and accept your comments as reasonable. This is illogical, i.e., IF you find me intelligent does NOT mean that I OUGHT to find your comments reasonable and intelligent.
Then, to declare that your view that ‘racism exists on all sides’ is beyond dispute is yet another illogical conclusion. Who are you to function as the Final Judge? The fact that you’ve been in California and Arizona, which were not slave economies, ..(and for how long?)..can’t be used to substantiate your insistence that you KNOW about racial issues.
With regard to the metaphor/image of Bush as a chimpanzee – no, I’m not ‘changing the channel’. The image has been in use for the past 8 years, heavily in use, and is understood to mean that the person/s is of pre-human intelligence. That’s what it means. Period.
Therefore, to jump to yet another image and say that it means that a particular person is, because he is black, a chimpanzee is quite a stretch of the imagination. IF the cartoon was referring to Obama, then, the metaphor still remains that it is saying he is of pre-human intelligence…or more accurately, the Stimulus Package written (not by him..but)..and being touted by him..is a product of a pre-human intelligence.
How can one visualize, in a cartoon, Obama as having a pre-human intelligence? Are you saying that if we compare him to a chimpanzee, monkey, etc, this is not allowed because he is black? But how can we visualize him as having a pre-human intelligence? Or, are we not allowed to do so?
The fact that many people were offended? Tough. A lot of people are offended by the stimulus package being sold to them as ‘stimulus’ rather than ‘pork’. A lot of people were offended by Obama telling them that government ‘spending’ IS ‘stimulus’, when it is no such thing. A lot of people, furthermore, were offended by people calling Bush a chimpanzee, calling him Hitler. So?
And to say that there is racism in the US is a valid point. But – There’ll always be racism; there’ll always be the various Rev. Wrights preaching about how terrible white people are and vice versa. But, based on statistics, black people are pretty high on the ‘equality’ scale at the moment.
BUT – there most certainly was an intentional racist strategy in Obama’s campaign, tapping into the ever-present white uncertainty about their own existent or non-existent racism, and tapping into the black uncertainty about their own equality or lack of it.
That is, Obama actually INCREASED racism in the USA. And I predict, he’s going to continue to increase this racism, because it is electorally functional to keep the people uncertain of themselves, afraid to criticize him for fear of being ‘racist’, afraid to reject him, afraid to dissent from his Will.

12. The New Jew, aka The Other: CO2.
CO2 “represents a danger to the public.”
The ukase/fiat is handed down by O.
CO2 is Public Enemy # 1.
If you resist, you will be labelled a racist, a wrecker, a public enemy.
The penalty? ?
The campaign of the Great Four-Year Leap Forward is rolling onward. Hurry, hurry to the USSA.

“2nd UPDATE:US Climate Czar: CO2 Regulation Ruling To Come Soon
“Yet, in holding scientific research and discovery in respect, as we should, we must also be alert to the equal and opposite danger that public policy could itself become the captive of a scientific technological elite” – Dwight Eisenhower
WASHINGTON -(Dow Jones)- President Barack Obama’s climate czar said Sunday the Environmental Protection Agency will soon issue a rule on the regulation of carbon dioxide, finding that it represents a danger to the public.”

13. C’mon ET. I’m aware you don’t have to find me intelligent and reasonable just because I find you so. That’s why it was a request, as in “Please do me the same courtesy.”not a demand. I was looking for some courtesy. My mistake. Tough, as you say.
I know racism exists, and continues to exist, and so do you, as you acknowledge when you point out “And to say that there is racism in the US is a valid point. But – There’ll always be racism…”. It may not be as bad as it once was, and certainly isn’t as condoned as it once was, but it exists. In saying that it’s from all slides, I’m pointing out it’s not only “whites” who are racist. There are black people and others who are racists, and there are democrats and conservatives who are racist. A good argument can be made that affirmative action was a racist policy. I know racism exists, and I believe one would have to be willingly blind to reality to think otherwise. I know it. I’m as sure of it as I am that the sun will rise tomorrow.
And, for the record, I even saw it in California, including where I was called a “n****r lover” in Santa Barbara because I was friends with a black guy. I was also told, in San Francisco, that because I was white I was not welcome and would not be served in a black bar I, literally, stumbled into. In San Francisco, the bastion of Liberalism, of all places.
Re: “The image has been in use for the past 8 years, heavily in use, and is understood to mean that the person/s is of pre-human intelligence. That’s what it means. Period.”
8 years? Try 200+ years. To quote Andrew Rojecki, associate professor of communication at the University of Illinois at Chicago: “The cartoonist, whether he did this consciously or not, was drawing upon a very historically deep source of images about African-Americans that African-Americans do not have a lot of control over.”
It’s entirely dependent on the context and perspective. Maybe it means one thing only to you, but it’s clearly not what it meant to many others, as demonstrated by this controversy. I believe the cartoonist knew that, and if he didn’t, then some editor should have.
I even agree with most of your points regarding equality, the stimulus package, the use of racism by the Obama camp, the Bush/chimp comparisons, etc, etc, etc. They have nothing to do with this cartoon, which was clumsy and ill conceived, to be charitable.
Again, Professor Andrew Rojecki: “It strains credulity to imagine that there is any association between a chimpanzee that was shot because it had attacked someone and a bill that has successfully passed through Congress,” he said. “It makes no sense. What possible explanation could there be?”
And as for “Are you saying that if we compare him to a chimpanzee, monkey, etc, this is not allowed because he is black?” Yes and no. It’s not illegal, or banned. It’s certainly not the same as if the reference is to a Caucasian. Right or wrong, it’s a loaded symbolism. I’m saying it’s really, really dumb and inconsiderate, because someone in this cartoonist and editor’s position would have to be aware of how it would be perceived.
Like a joke, if you have to explain what it means, as The Post had to, it’s a bad cartoon. Forgotten in much of the controversy is that there is a woman in hospital with half her face ripped off. That’s supposed to be fodder for a cartoon?
It fails on so many levels, not the least being the it gives that walking cartoon Rev Sharpton more ammo to justify his credibility and relevance.

14. Time line should have gone like this…
Day 1 — Cartoon printed, some people offended.
Day 2 — Cartoon explained, those people offended state they misunderstood, accept explaination.
Day 3 — Get on with LIFE.
But noooooo, the perpetually outraged won’t let this die because they WANTED this to be a racist cartoon. And the haters are who?

15. Jimbo: “I’ll only say it one more time – many people were offended. I’m not making that up. I don’t know how anyone could argue that, unless they just want to argue.”
Are you perchance related to Barbara Hall, Jimbo?
Because your reasoning seems remarkably similar. IOW, It’s not whether your comments/remarkss/writing are intended to give offence, but rather whether offence was taken.
Irrespective of your intent, if offence is taken you are guilty and must apologize or make reparations.
That’s how the censorship of the left works. Pound it long enough and hard enough and people/publications will simply self-censor.

16. Jimbo: “a very historically deep source of images about African-Americans that African-Americans do not have a lot of control over.”
Now that statement strikes me as the racism of low expectations, Jimbo. Every other nationality or ‘race’ seems to have risen above the pettiness of assuming that everything that could be considered a slight is in fact, exactly that.
It’s juvenile and immature to “not have a lot of control” over one’s emotions and that’s not something I would ascribe to most black Americans.
Jimbo:”Again, Professor Andrew Rojecki: “It strains credulity to imagine that there is any association between a chimpanzee that was shot because it had attacked someone and a bill that has successfully passed through Congress,” he said. “It makes no sense. What possible explanation could there be?”
What, because he’s Professor such and such, we’re supposed to accept that because for him it makes “no sense”, that therefore it does not?
I’ve never associate high falutin’ titles with common sense and I’ve more often than not, been proven correct.

17. jimbo – don’t move into an invalid type of argumentation, i.e., the appeal to authority. Because ONE professor of communications said X doesn’t mean that it’s a valid conclusion.
I’m a professor too, of information (semiotics) among other fields, and I say that if SOMETIMES the use of the image of a chimpanzee is a reference to African-Americans this does not mean that the use of a chimpanzee in ALL cartoon images refers to African-Americans. After all, it certainly didn’t mean that with reference to Bush.
Furthermore, the metaphor of the chimpanzee is to its pre-human cognitive capacity and the stimulus package is roundly criticized as illogical, ill-thought out, won’t work etc.
As far as referring to Obama as a chimpanzee, i.e., as having a sub-human intelligence with regard to this stimulus law, your comment that such a reference is ‘not illegal or banned’. That’s irrelevant – the reaction, egged on by Democrats, is that one cannot equally criticize Obama and his policies, in the same manner as one could criticize Bush. Why not?
The issue of the woman attacked by the chimpanzee is NOT the metaphor in this cartoon. Certainly, the idea of a pre-human agent attack IS relevant (it’s the American people who are being attacked by this bill)…but I think the key image, without having to think about it, is that the stimulus packages was written by a pre-human or unintelligent agent. That’s all.

18. Like the Irish or Italians have never had 18th & 19th satirical cartoons printed showing them in an undignified or “racist” light?
It’s funny that neither ethnic group is running around today crying racist at every turn, and demanding special privileges and sympathy from the “white guilt” apologists. I suppose that might be because they had no issue about getting to work and earning the respect of their new community, instead of a handout and hand up by the gullible.

19. I don’t care if the dude was a professor, or a plumber, he makes the point. It’s a quote, so it’s only fair to name who said it.
Jimbo: “a very historically deep source of images about African-Americans that African-Americans do not have a lot of control over.”
No Guff “Now that statement strikes me as the racism of low expectations, Jimbo. Every other nationality or ‘race’ seems to have risen above the pettiness of assuming that everything that could be considered a slight is in fact, exactly that.”
It’s not my quote, it’s the professor’s. Do you understand what [soft] racism of low expectations is? If someone wore a nazi armband to a synagog, would it be “juvenile and immature to “not have a lot of control” over one’s emotions” if they were offended?
There was no reason in the world to offend black people when making a point about the stimulus package. If it was intentional, then it’s bad. If it was unintentional, then it was ignorant. The cartoonist may have been so caught up in what he was trying to say, that he missed what he was implying to a whole bunch of people. I doubt it, but that’s my opinion. There are numerous other ways to make the point. If he didn’t catch it, his editors should have.
If so many people misinterpreted what the cartoon was saying, is it a misinterpretation? Or is it just a bad cartoon?
I’m always hoping we’re making progress on the racism front. This was a step backwards. and it reflects poorly on those who defend it, in my opinion.

20. ET: “Re:… the reaction, egged on by Democrats, is that one cannot equally criticize Obama and his policies, in the same manner as one could criticize Bush. Why not?”
That may be your issue, but as I’ve made more than clear, it’s not my issue. I’ve stated, clearly, my reaction had NOTHING to do with Bush. You keep dragging that into my position, and that’s BS. If you have a problem with other people’s reactions to the cartoon, take it up with them.
Let’s take the racism angle out of the debate for the moment, and say it was about Nancy Pelosi, who some are saying was the one responsible for writing the stimulus bill. Is shooting Nancy Pelosi a reasonable subject for a cartoon? How about Reid? Congress? Anybody?
The cartoon is bad. Period. On so many levels. The end.
Since you’re a professor, take it up with Guff. You and I have been on the same side of so many issues I’ve seen on this site, I guess this is just one we’ll have to disagree on, and leave it that way.

21. Good job back’n and fill’n there Jimbo.
Only trouble is no one really knows who wrote the bill. Yes it has a long list of Democrat wishes but it would have been impossible for any one person to write the thing.
My take on it is the bill is so bad it must have been written by a monkey because no intelligent human could have, in good conscience, penned the monstrosity. Now the cops shot the monkey that wrote the bill what will the government do for their next bill. The racism that you seem to see everywhere is simply a smoke screen to get this vile piece of trash through the Congress and mute any criticism of said trash.

22. There’s no racism, but the campaign was based on race? You can’t have it both ways, buddy.
Posted by: Jimbo at February 22, 2009 6:08 PM
I, for one, am not “having it” any way, but obama has, as well as the kleptocrats and the left.
The media built obama’s candidacy to absurd heights; do you honestly think a white man with obama’s pitiful qualifications would have won the democrat nomination, much less the presidency? The evidence that he’s had such kid gloves treatment when most of his cabinet nominees are tax cheats and frauds, that his nomination to SOS (hillary clinton) is fraught with conflicts of interest, that the media was totally uncurious about obama’s ties to homespun terrorists, racist preachers, indicted felons, and that he’s pushed through the largest pork spending bill in the country’s history with little media pushback… that, pal, is the “racism of soft expectations.
Obama is too big to fail; the media wanted to participate in the election of America’s first black man, and they will do their best to cut him infinite slack. And the racism card was played by the left; during the democratic race, it was the left who argued obama wasn’t “black enough” to be considered “black”, it was obama who referenced race when he said “I don’t look like those other guys on the dollar bills”. It was also the obama campaign that – to slick willie’s amazement – accused clinton of playing the race card.
Race, race race.
It’s actually YOU, jimbo, who can’t have it both ways. You can’t b1tch about a cartoon that multiple posters have already stated didn’t refer to obama (as he didn’t write the “stimulus”), and then coast on the kid glove treatment and deference this man has been granted, and hasn’t deserved.
And before you – predictably – accuse me of racism, I’ve no issue with a black president, only one who’s so radically socialist and left-wing that his appointments reek with hypocrisy and his legislation threatens the world’s last enclave of free market capitalism. For my money, I’d much prefer to see Condi Rice as president: a black woman who has more wisdom and experience while sleeping than obama has in all his waking hours.
Next time try thinking before posting the usual leftish boilerplate.

23. Paging the HRC, paging the HRC. Give it up, Jimbo.
It’s obvious that you have determined the cartoon was racist rather than political and nothing anyone says will convince you otherwise.
Therefore, in your estimation, the only thing that will do is for us to prostrate ourselves before you and beg forgiveness.
Sorry, but I’m not going to bow down to your leftist oriented dhimmitude of censorship.
The ‘stimulus’/spending bill was no better than what a monkey might have pounded out and that’s that.
Speaking of spending, as someone pointed out, the difference between a million and a billion is that a million seconds is equal to 12 days, while a billion seconds equals 32 years. So 780 billion ‘seconds’ (dollars) – the initial ‘stimulus’ – is equivalent to spending a dollar/second for 24,960 years.
Monkey business, indeed.

24. No, MBH, I’m not accusing you of racism. Read what I’ve posted, and take issue with what I’ve actually said if you wish, but please don’t put words in my mouth to make your argument. I’m not the one making it a left/right issue, as I’ve stated, clearly. Next time, maybe you should do some thinking before posting.
It’s not about the numerous posters who don’t find it racist, it’s about the numerous people who did.
Sure, the usual suspects, like Rev Sharpton and his legion of the perpetually outraged are going to have a field day milking this for all it’s worth, and it’s true they are going overboard, making it a much bigger deal than it really is to score points. It’s predictable, and make no mistake, they are scoring points. Why in the world would someone do something so dumb as to give them such a golden opportunity to do so? I can’t, and won’t, defend that kind of idiocy.
And once again, thanks to the posters who may disagree with my position, but engage in reasonable debate. I appreciate it, whether agree with you entirely, partially, or not at all.

26. Jimbo: “It’s not about the numerous posters who don’t find it racist, it’s about the numerous people who did.”
I beg to differ. This is the ‘lowest common denominator” argument. If I make a comment in good faith and without intended malice or offence, then it’s the other guy’s problem, not mine.
Bearing in mind of course, my wife’s maxim: “It’s not what you say, but how you say it.”
In it’s simplest form, what you’re demanding of us is political correctness and I for one will tailor my remarks only to the degree that I am still able to make my views clearly known.
Some issues simply demand plain speaking.

27. Crying racism at every opportunity has gained the left complete formal political control of the United States, the longest lived and most powerful democracy in the world.
Why shouldn’t jimbo and his ild attempt to gain political control of speech while they are on a winning streak. I don’t blame them for trying, and it is pointless to try to get them to stop what has been a spectacularly successful tactic.

28. “There was no reason in the world to offend black people when making a point about the stimulus package. If it was intentional, then it’s bad. If it was unintentional, then it was ignorant. All of you who are offended by this cartoon because of some mythical racial attack, are the ones with the problem. The artist and the editor have nothing to apologize for if you don’t understand the joke or somehow see race in it. It’s not the artist and the editor equating the ape with Obama because of the color of his skin. It’s you guys.

29. Jimbo, a little external reality check here.
Dr. James Hansen’s pronouncements this week offend the hell out of me. Should I be able to squeeze money out of his employer in a lawsuit to sooth my ruffled feelings?
Check failed. Too bad for me.
If you don’t like their cartoon, don’t buy their paper. That’s how we grownups do it.
Or, you can join Special K and his crusade to re-start Fascism under new, Jewish-friendly management. This time only Conservative talk radio hosts and stock brokers go to the gas chambers. Isn’t that great?

30. Jimbo posted: “I’m a white conservative from Canada, and I immediately subconsciously made the Obama connection.”
Key word is “subconsciously” which means what? You did not consciously make the connection? Obviously you did, or you would not have responded as you have. If you “subconsciously” made the Obama connection perhaps that says more about your own feelings on a subconscious level regarding Obama. Are you stating your subconscious was picking up on the collective “subconscious” message the cartoon intended? Help me. I am confused. First you state anyone with intelligence could make the connection and then state it was done on a subconscious level.
My interpretation of the cartoon is this: The pet stimulus package is just as dangerous as that pet monkey that attacked and ripped the face off of a person and should be shot dead. To my knowlege Obama did not write the stimulus bill – he signed it; however in signing it he is accountable for the outcome. I took the cartoon as the stimulus bill being a “monkey” on the backs of the people. Obama did not enter my mind at all.
As predicted by many, racism will become the lens in which all negative comments towards the democratic leadership will be looked through.

“Jimbo posted: “I’m a white conservative from Canada, and I immediately subconsciously made the Obama connection.”
Key word is “subconsciously” which means what?”
As in without consciously thinking about it. As in, the first thing that came to my mind. As in, “What the …?” The fact I made a subconscious connection does not mean I can’t also make a conscious one.
no-one: “Help me. I am confused. First you state anyone with intelligence could make the connection and then state it was done on a subconscious level.”
No, I didn’t say that. Again, if you’re going to take issue with what I’ve said, then fine, but get it right. Here is what I wrote: ”Any reasonably intelligent person in the US is aware of the significance of the chimpanzee as to do with race.”Hope that clears it up for you.
It’s a bad cartoon. Nowhere have I said the cartoonist should be fired. Nowhere have I said they shouldn’t be allowed to print it. Nowhere have I suggested a boycott. As I’ve stated, they apologized, and that’s enough for me. And yet, it’s stated or suggested I’m a fascist, leftist, censor, with “limited abilities of thought”, who agrees with the HRC’s way of doing things.
I’m glad to see many here didn’t make the chimp connection to African Americans, but I’d bet any good black editor in the US would have instantly made the connection, as I did, as did many others. Personally, I believe it was predictable, and I also believe the cartoonist and/or editor either were aware the cartoon would be misinterpreted, or should have been.
Maybe it has something to do with growing up in Canada that leads people to draw a different interpretation from the many African Americans who take issue with it. I’d agree with Greg in Dallas’s statement: “The affiliation of chimp to race does have a certain fading cache. Twenty year ago it would have meant a lot more than it does today.”
Now, back to the usual SDA pile-on. I find many comments, like the following, from Phantom, are a little over-the-top, but maybe that’s just me being over-sensitive again.
Phantom: “… you can join Special K and his crusade to re-start Fascism under new, Jewish-friendly management. This time only Conservative talk radio hosts and stock brokers go to the gas chambers”

33. “This cartoon apparently makes those on the right “racists” for printing it, even though it is the left who keeps drawing attention to the perceived parallel between apes and blacks…”
So basically if you report on a Klan rally, it is in fact you who are racist. Whoa… that’s the most mind-bending logic I’ve heard in a long time. No wonder you guys supported the war n’ stuff.
Look. Racists like to equate blacks to apes. Just type in “niggers apes” into google and see what you get back.
Either the editor was an naive idiot who’s never once heard the two being equated (thus making him incompetent), OR he knew exactly what he was doing. Meaning that he knew his racist readers (and seeing as it’s a rightwing paper), would dig it.

34. John, you are being an idiot, and proving my point. In recent times, it is the left who see racists in everything, not the right. It is the left who are screaming “racist” at every slur they don’t like.
So here’s one for you: I’ve never heard the direct association between blacks and apes made. The closest I’ve ever heard is “not far descended from the trees”, and I haven’t heard that for decades. The stimulus bill and dead monkeys immediately calls to my mind an image of a monkey sitting at a keyboard, not a black man swinging from a tree. I don’t know very many racists (at least not conservative ones), but I do know some bigots (conservative ones). Now, I’m 61, been conservative, more or less, all my life. The racists I do know, and the few I observe, are politically on the left. Howzat? You need better friends, or to look inward to find the racist, seeing as its you who’s making all the fuss about the supposed racial association.

35. “jimbo – but your explanation doesn’t cover the constant references made in the US and by Americans to Bush as a ‘chimpanzee
sarge here its easy: bush looks like a chimp and is no smarter the dumbest american president of all times and looks like a chimp too sarge caint hardly make up irony like that except the second dumbest american president making films with a chimp for a co star maybe

36. John: Try googling monkeys and typewriters. Sometimes it’s stunning the bubble you people live in. The monkeys and typewriters concept pre-dates any notion of African American equated to Monkeys. It’s as silly as Bush getting in trouble for calling The Big O articulate.
It’s race industry John.
Sarge: Ok then … Obama is as dumb as an ape and looks like one even more so than Bush. Check Mate.

37. That the drive-by media didn’t bother to surf Limbaugh’s site and read Limbaugh’s explanation of the “magic negro” parody, which was in direct counterpoint to the orginal LA Times piece calling obama “magic negro” is hardly surprising. They’re too lazy to report the truth, and it gets in the way of a fake racism charge against Limbaugh.
That “sarge” missed the point completely… all those who are suprised please raise your hands.
… waiting… uh huh.
Some homework links for “sarge”:
Definition of ‘magic negro’ as referenced by the LA Times article above, and definition of ‘parody’. Also be sure to check out the first two links noted above.
