Experience Is O-verated

Is there

India has warned US President Barack Obama that he risks “barking up the wrong tree” if he seeks to broker a settlement between Pakistan and India over the disputed territory of Kashmir.
MK Narayanan, India’s national security advisor, said that the new US administration was in danger of dredging up out of date Clinton administration-era strategies in a bid to bring about improved ties between the two nuclear armed neighbours.

nothing that…

The European Union warned the US yesterday against plunging the world into depression by adopting a planned “Buy American” policy, intensifying fears of a trade war.
The EU threatened to retaliate if the US Congress went ahead with sweeping measures in its $800 billion (£554 billion) stimulus plan to restrict spending to American goods and services

Obama can’t do?

“The United States will use “all elements of our national power” to deal with Iran, White House spokesman Robert Gibbs said Tuesday after Tehran said it had launched a satellite into orbit.”

Sure he will.

On the rockiest day of his young administration, President Barack Obama did what surely made him happy for a while.
He left.

  1. “Wash. Times Exclusive: Obama Backs Out on Iraq Appointment
The Obama administration asked retired Marine Gen. Anthony Zinni to be U.S. ambassador to Iraq but abruptly withdrew the appointment without explanation, Gen. Zinni said Tuesday.”
    http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2178203/posts
    Comments are somewhat, er scathing?
    “To: kristinn
I think Zinni was an early supporter of the messiah. That pissed off the Clintonistas and I am sure when the shrew Hillary got into the State Dept, she deep sixed him for the job in Iraq. Look to see more of this from State Dept., I feel under Hillary they will go off the Obama reservation many times. No way Barry is going to able to reign in the Hildabeast.
The Clinton’s have their eyes on the White House, and Barry was too dumb to know you can never trust them. His lack of executive experience is already painfully obvious, just now he came on tv whining about the stimulus package and in his usual arrogant fashion, declared the Ameerican voters elected change in November, so everyone needs to get on board his stimulus version ,no matter how stupid it is.”

  2. Well the backdown on Buy America wasn’t caused by the MSM that’s for sure. They didn’t say a peep about it right up until yesterday. Very soon as an act of commercial self-preservation they will have to start well, REALLY reporting the news.

  3. Excellent column by hansen by the way, lately he has elevated his always high-quality op-eds to an even higher level. with his depth of historic knowledge I think he sees what Obama is more clearly than anyone and thus what it means for america and the world going forward. Chilling…

  4. I don’t think that Obama realizes the mess he’s in. He not only has no experience at governance but he’s psychologically unsuited to do so. He’s a salesman; that’s all. He has no interest in or ability to know, the values of the product he’s selling.
Therefore, the governance is rapidly, faster than the spread of a plague, being taken over by backroom Clinton Party and other Democrats. The ‘stimulation package’ is written by Pelosi and Reid and has nothing to do with the good of the economy.
The appointments are all backroom deals by the old gang – and as the Clinton become stronger in these backroom deals, we’ll see excellence going out the window. Already, Obama is rejecting senior military advice (Petraeus).
So, Obama then turns to the media, to sell these packages. He uses psychological manipulation – if you don’t like me/the policy, there is something wrong with YOU.
And remember, he didn’t develop these policies; he doesn’t know the long term results but he has to trust his advisors because he, himself, doesn’t function in the area of developing policy.

  5. Already I can see the honeymoon with Obama ending for lots of people, and yet I still cant find any “dont blame me, I voted for McCain” bumper stickers.
Here’s hoping that the world continues to show the same level of respect to B.O. that they gave to George Bush!

  6. “I don’t think a Harvard Degree means squat if you got in under Affirmative Action”
Lots of white Harvard Law Review Presidents started out their first two years of higher ed in community college. Lots and lots I am sure. That Harvard Degree is gold backed and God certified. DO NOT QUESTION IT!
“Somewhere in Kenya a village has lost its idiot.” So frickin’ true. We all know that the missing Texas idiot was Dan Rather.

  7. “Well the backdown on Buy America wasn’t caused by the MSM that’s for sure.”
Obama’s the only one backing down and he’s irrelevant in this. Congress writes the bills and the president has two choices – sign the whole thing or not sign the whole thing; he can’t pick and choose. To date, the Senate is still planning on expanding the House provision.

“Gee, anyone notice the trolls have gone awfully quiet…..”
I keep waiting for them to show up and explain all of this to me in a language I can understand. Afterall, there must be some reasonable explanation for why Obama is driving his train off into the wilderness where there are no tracks.
The trolls have essentially gone quiet at Hot Air also. Must be a big WHOOPS! in the system somewhere. The most ardent and prolific Bush-hating/Obama-loving poster at HA, a Canadian, has gone scarce.
I guess reality can be a jarring awakening.

  9. Obama should be deported back to Kenya where he was born. Then he apply for American citizenship and become legal.
    Peter

  10. I for one hope that he succeeds in his presidency, but the outlook is grim. I just don’t think he has the brains to recover from his initial missteps like Kennedy, Clinton and Bush did. I hate to say it, and it will be bad news for us all if it is true, but Obama is looking even worse than Carter. I don’t know if the free world can survive a presidency as disastrous as this one could be.

  11. I think ET is soooo right on with the narcissistic personality of The Messiah. That’s what makes me worry he may lose it and nuke somebody for pissing in his little red wagon.
Let us all remember the 1990’s for a moment, when Bill Clinton used to bomb somebody every time he needed the media’s attention turned someplace else. The difference between Clinton and Obama, I think Billy is fundamentally crooked and out for Numero Uno. He doesn’t believe his own hype, and when he does something he’s calculated what’s going to happen.
Obama, he seems much more into the adulation. He’s in it for the cheering and the stroking, so when it stops and the booing and shoe throwing starts, he could go really weird.
I also think Bill Clinton is a hell of a lot smarter than The One. Scary frickin’ thought, that. Hillary, not so much.

  12. Time for the Republicans to get it together. They have to have some real quality going into the mid-terms. I like Ms. Palin for VP but they need a big dog for Pres. Remember, Biden is a heartbeat from the Presidency.

  13. Notice that the latest polls are showing that Americans are turning against Obama’s ‘stimulus package’. Check out the Rasmussen Reports
    Makes Things Worse
Meanwhile, Obama is going on the MSM saying that ‘you must pass the package or it will be disastrous’. That’s his strategy of inducing fear so that you will do what he wants. Remember, he’s not interested in the policies; he has no knowledge of cause-effect, of long term effects, of economics, of finance, of banking. Nothing. The fact that the package is pork and not stimulus is of no interest to him.
His goal is control of people; they must do as he asks just because He is the one who is asking. It’s a severe psychological need not a rational need.
Meanwhile, Obama has backed off from his foreing minister appointments (Iraq), his other appointments suggested by the Old Gang have been found compromised with corruption; he’s in conflict with military advice..and so on. All because he is not focused on policies or even the good of America, but on his ability to control people and be liked.
In this vacuum of leadership, the backroom Boys rapidly move in. Pelosi and Reid. The Clintons. Put these two groups together, and it’s a serious slipperly slope to a meltdown.

  14. Too bad the pathetic, pitiful Canadian lickspittles who dare call themselves journalists are still wiping their lips, getting on their knees and giving the big-O the full monica.
Ibbitson was vomit-inducing today. “Obama is god and that Harper guy is making Canada into nobodies on the world stage!” says sycophant Ibby. It’s enough to churn your stomach.
I don’t hate Obama and I don’t think he’ll do as bad a job as a lot of other people on the board do (pelosi and the house & senate are another matter. They will likely be the worst ever.) It’s more the media’s treatment of Obama rather than the man himself I can’t stand.

  15. You people are delusional. There are a lot of idiots posting on here. After 8 years with Bush, I can’t believe everyone is being so hard on Obama. He’s only been president for 2 weeks and it seems to me that he is attempting to set things right. He has been given two wars and a crappy economy thanks to the last administration. I am also sick of reading that Obama is somehow not American. I mean, I know there is a lot of junk online but it isn’t that hard to find his birth certificate. It’s obvious that you just don’t like Obama and are going out of your way to criticize him. It’s sickening, really.

  16. Maybe the military will step in and turf him if it gets too serious. I think they almost turfed Kennedy during the cuban missile crisis.
    I don’t know, just sayin’.

  17. Holly,
Bush wasn’t even in power before you leftards started scretching.
What’s been sickening is that after 8 years of the most viscious, personal, degrading attacks, you POS leftards think you can demand civility now?
Go. F***. Yourself. With. Something. Painful. Like a liberal.

  18. Warwick,
Why are people like you so vile? This is America. I am thankful that I can disagree with the anti Obama rants on this stupid website. Why don’t you go watch Rush Limbaugh so he can tell you what to think.

  19. In a simpler and more innocent bygone era, the press and his administration kept Roosevelt’s wheelchair under wraps as if it didn’t exist. But, then, the issue wasn’t his mental incapacitation.
If this little twit spirals any faster in his downhill trajectory it’s going to be real fun seeing the MSM and his inner circle trying to hide his incapacitation deploying extreme Hollywood methods. There might come a day when an Obama press conference is done in animation. Then, the question becomes can you impeach a cartoon.

  20. Holly,
I don’t know what site you think you’ve come to, but this is CANADA. I’m in Ontario and this site is hosted out of Saskatchewan.
As for “people like me” I guess people like me are just sick and tired of people like you. Whenever your lot are out of power, the anger, venom and sickening “chimpy McHitlerburton, inside job, stolen election” tin hat jerknuts come out yapping. Granted, when Clinto was in, he took endless crap from the GOP and conservatives everywhere but the bile was nowhere in the same ballpark.
Unlike you, I need no one to tell me how to think. And my venom wasn’t directed at Obama but you (and in an earlier post, the media – where rush also works. I don’t like him either except so much as he makes leftard such as yourself froth.)

  21. Good Golly Miss Holly
Why don’t you go watch Rush Limbaugh so he can tell you what to think.
Let me rephrase that for you because what you really meant was, “Why don’t you go watch Rush Limbaugh until such time we shut down freedom of speech and talk radio and then we will tell you what we think”.

  22. Lil’Miss Irony:
Holly(3:43): “You people are delusional. There are a lot of idiots posting on here.”
Holly(3:52): “Why are people like you so vile? This is America.”

    re: Rush limbaugh
Do yourself a favour and check out hannity’s interview with Rush on Youtube. Then come back here and provide some concrete criticism of what he’s saying.

Yes there are some screeds above (as there were and are on left-wing sites about GWB) but there are also some excellent arguments being made (and the Hansen link is tremendous – i suspect it is the plot outline for the next four years) please take the time to read them and by all means make some non-ad hominem arguments against them.
Frankly it is what the majority of those reading this are hungering for – a reasoned argument from the those who think BO is doing a good job. So far all we have seen is gushing praise (eg the ibbitson column noted above) from people who are paid to know and do better.

  24. The motivational speaker suddenly finds himself CEO and he hasn’t a clue — surprise, surprise. What’s perhaps more worrisome is that he’s surrounded himself with corrupt, carpet-bagging, greedy leftist ideologues who are just as clueless as he is. It’s like the frat-house drunks from the Lido deck now have control of the ship.
On the international scene, the wolves are coming out because the German Shepherd sheep dog just got replaced by a golden retriever pup. The wolves are going to try their luck and why shouldn’t they? There’s going to be a lot of suffering at home and abroad before a leader emerges somewhere behind the scenes.
I suspect things will get worse for the two years it will take before the Republicans regain control of congress and can effectively force the executive branch to sober up. Tough times ahead.

  25. Hmmmm….if these mistakes keep up, people are going to start saying that B.O. isn’t America’s first African American president after all. They may even start making things up…saying that he’s multi-racial or telling similar lies.

  26. Holly.
OMG As an American would you please stop insluting my Canadian friends.
Maybe you should check on the website before you make such stupid comments.
PS.. You can’t watch Rush on TV, he’s on radio.
    Jezzzzz

  27. Warwick..
I have leftard friends like that.
“Why can’t you stupid half functional retard conservatives show some love and respect for the new Prez…”
Well, since you put it that way…..

  28. RFC
Exactly. After the bile and spittle of Bush Derangement Syndrome, I am in no mood for leftards demanding respect. F*** your respect. Want some? Show some.
I don’t even dislike Obama. It’s not really his fault all his fans and supporters are idiots (including the media.)
I’m willing to bet he has an initial hissy fit and (with luck) his intellect shuts down his ego and he gets to work. If VDH is right though (and betting against isn’t good odds) then we’re screwed.
I’d rather hope the other team’s guy does well if they’re running the place. If they flop, I want it to be before they get their hands on the football.

  29. Hey Dr. D, easy on the Golden Retrievers there eh? My golden faced off a whole coyote pack one time. They checked him out but kept on going.
I’m sure he’d have made a better President than Barry OmigawdBama. Smarter, for one thing.
Yes Holly, my dog was smarter than your guy is. Deal with it.

  30. BTW OT
Did anyone enjoy O’Reilly’s interview with the two lawyers on the octuplets topic? My wife and I giggled for a good 10 minutes after that one(In a good way).
You can see when Bill’s going to blow-up a few seconds early if you watch his eyes, he should probably avoid the poker table. Anyway, that’s the mental image I’ve got when you blow-up Warwick.

  31. “He’s only been president for 2 weeks and it seems to me that he is attempting to set things right”.
Snicker, snicker, mphffff, chuckle, giggle, hee hee. HAW HAW HAW HAW, ROFLMAO. Oh my aching sides!!!
    Snicker….

    Where to begin?
“After 8 years with Bush, I can’t believe everyone is being so hard on Obama
My irony meter just broke. Are you for real, holly? Are you entirely innocent of the huffington post & dailykos, and the serial venom heaped upon W. during his entire 8 years in office? Good grief: add all the wistful musings about a Bush assassination, and giving the man credit for absolutely NOTHING. And your lot were the ones who showed the ultimate in boorishness: heckling Bush at his farewell hand-off to obama. Introspection? Try it sometime; it might be useful for you.
He’s only been president for 2 weeks and it seems to me that he is attempting to set things right.
And what a 2-week splendour it’s been! I’ve nothing to add to Hanson’s summary; it’s fascinating reading. Ask yourself if you feel more secure from attacks when obama’s first order of the day to protect America was to release terrorists from Gitmo. Holly, try this: refrain from being such a loyal O-bot for 10 minutes, and give a read without judgement. Who knows? You might learn something about truth & how the media are in the tank for the guy, and gain some insight into the phenomena known as “cult of personality”.
He has been given two wars and a crappy economy thanks to the last administration.
Please. The Dems voted for both wars (well, John Kerry voted for/against/neither of the above), and then the democrats decided the best offense was to sit back and sabotage the war efforts from home (remember Harry Reid? “The war is LOST”, just before the Surge turned the tide). As for the economy, you really are delusional if you think it was a republican affair. Google “Jimmy Carter”, “Community Reinvestment Act”, “Bill Clinton & Janet Reno”, “Chris Dodd”, “Barney Frank” and “ACORN” for starters. Admittedly, Bush blew it with the bailout; that wasn’t the work of a conservative, to be sure.
    It’s sickening, really
No; what’s sickening is your penchant for either ignoring or rewriting history these last 8 years, and your wide-eyed sycophancy in following obama.
The world – not just the US – has a long 4 years ahead of it if he doesn’t pull out his thumb and learn his job, and quickly, too.

  33. Geraty (sp.) at the washington post is reporting that it looks like BO was facilitating secret talks with – get this – Al Queda since as early as july. If true it makes Nixon’s discussions with the SVN government in ’68 look like child’s play.
Discussions with al queda? maybe after they deliver the heads of all those involved with the bombing of the Cole and 9/11 on pikes (literally or figuratively) but not before.
    http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/feb/03/s-u-b-m-i-s-s-i-o-n/
    key text:
According to GeostrategyDirect.com, a newsletter published by The Washington Times’ ace national security reporter Bill Gertz, “Diplomatic sources said Barack Obama has engaged several Arab intermediaries to relay messages to and from al Qaeda in the months before his elections as the 44th U.S. president. The sources said al Qaeda has offered what they termed a truce in exchange for a U.S. military withdrawal from Afghanistan. ‘For the last few months, Obama has been receiving and sending feelers to those close to al Qaeda on whether the group would end its terrorist campaign against the United States,’ a diplomatic source said. ‘Obama sees this as helpful to his plans to essentially withdraw from Afghanistan and Iraq during his first term in office.’ ”

  34. Here’s more on the Obama meltdown as he moves from messianic rhetoric into actually making policy – and people are realizing that he has no clue, absolutely no clue, about economics, finance, security, social infrastructure..nothing.
Here’s Terence Cocoran in the National Post about Obama’s ‘Wall Street Policy’.
    Obama and Wall Street
Obama is making the situation worse.

  35. Hummmm…pretty intense comments here. I’ve been praying that o will have wisdom, knowledge and discernment to lead our country on the right path (and I hope you are too). IMHO, it doesn’t look like it from all that he has done to date…

  36. I agree with you Orlin. Unfortunately, being POTUS is not a job that gives time for on-job-learning.The learning curve is steep and immediate. It is hands on NOW,and a blunder can be very costly.Hopefully,he has George’s number and is willing to use it.

  37. ” [Obama’s] intellect shuts down his ego”
What evidence do you have of intellect? Was it his stint in community college? Was it something he said? I haven’t heard anything beyond the ability to parrot marxist philosophy. How abouts a quote and we can discuss it. Otherwise, I am sticking with the painful truth, he is a very pretty, but otherwise average man, in over his head. We may as well have elected that hot blond who sits next to Regis. We elected Chauncey Gardner.

  38. “I’ve been praying that o will have wisdom, knowledge and discernment to lead our country on the right path (and I hope you are too)”
I don’t want to discourage you, but I’m afraid you and millions of others are about to discover that the “right path” bears no resemblance to what obama’s promised: reduction in national security, rampant government spending, inflation/higher taxes/high interest rates, wealth redistribution, cronyism, and the permanent shift in the American paradigm that has made you folks so successful & powerful: moving away from the idea of individual liberty, freedom and opportunity to succeed in favor of big government control.
Many pundits have noted – correctly – that when you have over 50% of the voting population on some form of government handout, then they will vote to continue the largesse; the tax-paying minority cannot find enough voice to reverse the trend. And with spending on the recent “stimulus”, which is basically pork for potential democrat voters, that voter shift will continue. Rush Limbaugh was bang-on in hoping that obama would fail, as “success” for obama’s plan would change the US for decades, if not longer, and not for the best.
Canada has been there before, friend. Over 30 years ago we fell in love with our own demagogue: a well-spoken man raised with a silver spoon in his mouth who disdained the common man, and never worked a real job in his life. He caused irreparable damage to this country this remains to this day: multiculturalism, enforced bilingualism (for all of the country except quebec), the ballooning of our national debt, rampant government spending on “just” causes that never achieve their goals, the decimation of our fighting forces and ending of a meaninful foreign policy. Canada became a real-life social experiment for trudeau, and this country has never been the same since his destructive hands manned the national helm.
Maybe you wonder why canadians are all a-tussle over obama and his path. It’d be much too easy to say it’s only our vested self-interest as your largest trading partner. I think (well, for me, anyway), that there is a huge vested interest in the success of the US as the world’s last hope for free market capitalism, individual liberty, and in governments that recognize their constitutional function to minimize their impact on the private sector and let people be free to achieve their dreams. This is the true success of the American experiment, and it is the reason why in less than 300 years you’ve progressed from 13 colonies to the most powerful and successful nation on earth. Personally, I think it’d be tragic beyond words to see you descend into socialism (as we did); in the end the thought becomes, “If the US can’t pull out of this tailspin, then what hope do we or any other country have?”
The world needs a strong, confident and powerful US both as a bulwark against terrorism and rogue states, and as an economic example to follow. And, out of the gate, it doesn’t look very promising.
I wish you good luck, friend.

  39. Honest to goodness, China needs the American consumer a hell of a lot more than we need China. Nothing, NOTHING, comes out of Europe that I can’t get here or somewhere else. Who are they kidding? The so-called global economy is powered by the U. S. consumer. Let’s hope the U. S. consumer wises up. We’re spending too much and need to save more.
