Prime Minister Invites Provincial Premiers and Territorial Leaders to a First Ministers Meeting on the Economy
Building on the productive discussions of that meeting, Prime Minister Harper issued an invitation today to Canada’s Provincial Premiers and Territorial Leaders for a follow-up First Ministers’ Meeting, to be held onJanuary 16, 2009. This day-long meeting will be accompanied by a session with Aboriginal Leaders on economic development opportunities for Aboriginal Canadians.

    Here’s a typical one (such brain surgeons on the forums there at CBC News!) :
    We don’t need another expensive election to add to our financial woes. The fact that the electorate who did or did not vote did not and do not understand the process is like saying not reading the fine print of a contract and then whining about the outcome. There is a process in place for this contingent. It is bad enough that Harper wants to rob us of our votes by changing the rules for funding of political parties, he now wants to steal the constitution as well. He screwed up face the music and get on with it.

  7. I am now a watcher of QP noontime entertainment. ‘unf***ing believable’ I never even considered watching the political spectrum of parliament until this fall. Canadian, US elections and now with the QP. The world is falling apart and you get the ‘3 stooges’ up their with their insane ideas. I have to admit that PMSH is one of the best spokespersons I have ever watched. He always shows amazing clarity and calmness when speaking. Thank you very much PMSH, you are doing the right thing, keep it up and work for us Canadians.

  16. I just watched a horrified Jim Travers, Daniel Lessard and Don Newman (CBC tv) come to realization that another election is probable.
    What a bloody surprize for them.
    Liberals stuck with Dion again.
    Iggy getting cold feet working with a bunch of sore losers that have escalated an ordinary election loss into an national crisis.
    Can’t you just imagine Harvard Iggy in the same room with Pompous Jack Ego?

  17. This coalition, should it take power, would have just 23 seats of the 95 west of Ontario. Just 24% that is. And that’s the THREE PARTIES COMBINED!! Worse, a Liberal PM would have only 8 of those 95 seats, or just 8%. How can that be good for national unity, especially when he’s attempting to take power the way he is and the deal he’s made with separatists to give more money to Quebec? How can Dion be so selfish?

  21. My bursting aneurism is derived from Duffy etal telling us that the groundswell of emails, phone calls and talk radio is yet another VRWC Tory concoction. We’re just foot soldiers taking marching orders from the Tory war room. Wrap it up with a random act of vandalism on a Government owned sign, and, well, you just don’t know what those right wing ideologically driven Conservative supporters will do next.

  24. I saw Lessard and Travers too, rickyt… it was awful! Lessard is pitiful! He said “I never heard so much Quebec bashing in my life as I have over the past few days” (repeat on Newsworld at 7:30PM ET). So for
    Lesssard, it’s wrong to accuse a separatist party of being a separatist party. You should just submit, capitulate and hand over the keys to power them, otherwise you hate Quebec. Travers agreed and added that Harper has blown all good favour among Quebecers and has destabilized the country. Not the coalition of course. And Newman, who usually interrupts those who make outlandish and unfair comments, sat back in his chair in abject silence. Didn’t challenge anything said, particularly the comments by Lessard for which he owes PMSH and every CPC MP an immediate apology.

  27. This afternoon I heard a U. of T. Law Professor talking about the decisions the GG can possibly make. He kept on repeatedly using the words “Constitutional Legitimacy”. I understand why and I fully understand its meaning but surely there is another type of “legitimacy” that deserves equal, if not more, consideration?
    Since I’m an engineer and a numbers guy, let me help her out:

    Just another fine example of the fact, that in the minds of the Liberal and socialist hierarchy, ordinary Canadians are unable to think for themselves. Everytime that these elitists say something stupid (almost always), they insult the good, old taxpayer.

  33. I’m currently watching the Liberal Party spokesman … errr CTV reporter, Craig Oliver. Paraphrasing: “Nothing Harper said was good. He didn’t even bother to show contrition to the group seeking an unprecedented purge of the Canadian government. What a terrible guy!”
    By the way, are we 100% confident that Oliver and Lloyd Robertson are still actually alive and not actually computer generated figures?!? 🙂
