Step One

660 News Calgary;

The Stelmech Tories are floating the idea of creating a western based financial hub, hoping to turn the province into a major global financial player.
The hub would cluster financial operations, as the province continues to look for ways to take financial clout away from eastern Canada.
The Finance Minister tells The Herald major banks in Toronto don’t always understand the financial needs of the energy sector and it would be in the province’s best interest to create it’s own hub.

We need to hear from you soon, Mr. Wall. Soon.

  1. Set it up.
    Then separate.
Turn off the gas and oil too. Or sell it at a VERY high price.

  2. Sounds like a good idea too me, if done properly it would be very beneficial to all of us out west.

  3. Western Separation was not an option for me until last week when the Liberals were serious to consider a coalition with the treasonous party of Quebec.
This means to me, that the Liberals DO NOT see separation as a treasonous act, but simply having to comply with Mr. Dion’s clarity act…
Well, I think the West needs a referendum. Quite clear in nature and put it to us.
The difference is; as it has always been, the West will DO what it says, not just use it as a ploy decade after decade to blackmail the balance of Canada.
    LET’S GET ON WITH IT!

  4. Now they are saying that Dion will be the PM if the Coalition takes off…
That’s right folks, the guy who’s own party didn’t want to lead is “going” to be the Prime Minister.
You guys out west, get your ducks lined up in a row, I’ll be coming back to Red Deer (or somewhere west of the Ontario border) as soon as you say, “going, going, gone!”

  5. It may ultimately not be necessary to actually separate, but I am afraid it is going to become increasingly necessary to be seen back East as having a credible ability TO separate.
And that is not our fault, but rather the fault of the Eastern elites in the Liberal Party. They have set the terms under which you get noticed in Quebec and Ontario. Be ready to leave, and we’ll consider how our electoral choices play out in your region. Otherwise, shut up and suck the hind tit.

  6. I suggest Brad Wall as interim PM of Western Canada. Or….can somebody find Ralph Klein?

  7. They’re also saying that the Lib leadership will go on as planned. That’ll mean two unelected PMs from one unelected party in 6 months. Great, just great.

  8. Please, everyone look over to the right side of the country, there’s a domineering Prime Minister known for running a minority like he has won a landslide is on bended knee, petitioning for survival. In a matter of days Mr. Harper has recanted on his plan to withdraw public funding for political parties, has disavowed his intent to eliminate the right of public servants to strike, has moved up the timing of his budget and moved back the timing of a confidence vote.
The sight of him semi-prostrate before the likes of Stéphane Dion and Jack Layton is not something many would have believed. He hasn’t done the full revocation yet. He hasn’t come forward with a plan for major stimulus in the budget, as opposition parties demand. That could come later this week. But whatever the outcome of the current crisis, one thing is clear: This is a Prime Minister who is getting his comeuppance. You live by the sword, you die by the sword. He isn’t dead, but he is mightily humbled. History won’t forget these days.
How sweet it is. Thanks Globe and Mail

“How sweet it is. Thanks Globe and Mail”
The G&M is nothing, if not a leftist crock of sh#* !

  10. Slevine, I would have to disagree that this exposes Harper as being week in any sort of way. He is in a completely a win-win situation here, in the court of public opinion. Whether he would have achieved his initial goals as outlined in the economic summary is of little consequence as he now has exposed the true hidden agenda of the Coalition of Losers. Power at any cost. Even if the GG gives the keys to parliament to the COL, the COL will not last long and by then the damage to the country as well as their reputations will be sealed.
Every scenario will eventually play out to an election in this country and Harper knows that his party can survive one well, financially as well as politically. Steven is a thoroughly underestimated political player.

  11. Is there room out west?
Believe it or not, there are some of us here in Toronto who are not amused by recent.. and not so recent events..
sadly not enough of us to ensure our voice is heard in Ottawa. 🙁

  12. Send an avalanche of e-mail to the Governor General. I have sent 2 and will continue until this is resolved one way or another.

  13. The stories in the media that Harper instigated this are complete nonsense. Once again the incompetence of Canadian news organizations proves mind-boggling. The Liberals, NDP and Bloc have been discussing forming a coalition for months. They discussed it on forums. They set up advocacy websites. There were rumours swirling everywhere even during the last election. Layton’s caucus conference call tape proves it. All they needed was an excuse.
When the NDP and Libs failed to collect more seats than the Conservatives I thought the idea was dead. It never occurred to me that federalist parties would actively collude with the separatists to launch a coup d’état. If they succeed it will likely mark the beginning of the end for Canada. How can we have any faith in this country when a rump of politicians from downtown Toronto and Montreal are so hungry for power they are willing to make a deal with the treasonous Bloc?

  14. taliban jack to be named oil minister and transfer payment.
scooter brisson to be named minister of affairs.
hedy fry to be named minister of energy and forestry. now combined into one hot department.
judy skro minister of immigration and lap dancing.

  15. “hedy fry to be named minister of energy and forestry. now combined into one hot department.
Nahhhh she gets the Ministry of Burning Crosses.
    Perfect fit

  16. Harper was right about the firewall back in the day.
We know where the loyalties of the military and RCMP are. What will be the teeth of this leftist utopia?

  17. Well folks, no one can say we didn’t try. Alberta cooled its separatist jets while we gave Conferation another chance with a PM and government that took our interests into account. Now we witness the results. The political parties that represent only the needs of eastern Canada have once again decided they can’t abide anything that smacks of western upstart values.
There are more than a few members of the provincial legislature who hold separitist views, and I suspect that once we all get a look at who will be paying the freight for the Liberal/NDP/Bloc bailout package there will be strong sentiment that it is time to form a new party and get out. I know I’ll support them. The only party I ever contributed to was a western separation psrty and I’ll gladly do it again.

  18. I think it is time to enlist Ted “Snortin” Morton. Nothing ticks him off more than to be pushed around by Ottawa. He’s a hardliner and would be the poster guy for pushing a separatist vote through.
    Ed is a Red Tory.
Ralph is a Red Tory with Lib leanings.
Perhaps it’s time for Alberta to take the lead and work out (with Saskatchewan) the terms and phrasing of a referendum.

  19. Wow look at all the whining westerners. Let’s not forget who financed Alberta and Saskatchewan into prosperity. Oh wait you’re all in denial I know, so I guess I’d better remind you. EASTERN CANADA!
Some here think their oil is worth something to Eastern Canada, you aren’t the only oil producing region in this country any more.
So go ahead and shut the supply off, who are you going to sell it to then?

  20. I have to pay an 2008 income tax installment at the end of December. If this banana republic coup takes place I would like my Province (Alberta) to have set up an in-trust account to which I can make my payment. The money would be held until such time an election is held to decide this matter. If a number of Provinces did this and business and individuals paid their taxes to this fund it would send a message for sure.

  21. Swear to God my husband and I toyed with the idea of moving out west during the election. Given the situation it may be time to put the farm up for sale while it still has some value.
What seems so sad is the appalling contempt for the voters and the country shown by the left. God save us from separtists, unions and liars.

  22. As a Manitoban, that has lived in Alta at one time, can I come back to Alta?I am absolutely sickened by this coup, and just watching Layton/Dion shake hands with Duceppe as they make the ‘deal’ I am feeling physically ill.

  23. I think my head is going to blow off my head—the bright side is then I will have no problem with this coalition government…..
I hear Jack saying the Canadian people feel they have been let down and he has an obligation to do something about it.
No, Jack, not you. We will do something about it –Canadians are disgusted with you and your boys. We will show you the door again and soon.

  24. My roots are in Alberta, if Western Separation doesn’t extend passed the Sask-MB border I will be moving further West. My hope for Canada will be spent if this coalition succeeds.

  25. Sorry folks, the move west option just went down the toilet. This coalition is out to transfer the wealth back to their ridings. We, out west, are in for a terrible downturn.

  26. This whole thing is sleazy and angers me so much, I think I would actually swing at the next moron who tells me that 62% of Canadians did not vote for Harper. Well,idiots,100% of Canadians did not vote for this f’en coalition.I’m sure the people of Alberta and Sask. will be happy with Goodale as their lone voice in cabinet.

  27. “We need to hear from you soon, Mr. Wall. Soon.”
With all due respect Kate, what do you want to hear from Mr. Wall? Another unbelievably large gift to FidelTel North? Enterprise Saskatchewan? Attracting the business sector while gifting a crown? Let’s find out what members of the private sector have to say?
All I need to hear from Mr. Wall is “I’m sorry!” I just wasn’t thinking! No, the Saskatchewan Party really isn’t the new NDP!
Other than that? He’s got nothing to say that I want to hear!

  28. CEO’s of the major auto manufacturers show up to pick up their economic stimulus cheques. Ford asks GM what he’s going to do with his share of the money. The answer? “I’m going to keep losing money, making crappy cars, until it’s gone!”

  29. How’s this for an idea. When you file your tax return next year – if there is any money owing, how about sending it to ‘THE PROVINCE OF SASKATCHEWAN – IN TRUST.” Might be a nice way to building up the government revenues for when we put the pin on the Eastern bastards.
By the way, we have the oil. Let the EASTERN BASTARDS FREEZE IN THE DARK! How original!

  30. Lets see. We have a separate Ambassador to the US in the West. Have a trade treaty with all Cabinets involved with the 3 Western Provinces making decisions together. Now a banking system with a business hub. The West has destiny. The East has become a communist State at worst or a European top down government by bureaucracy, now with a thirst world Junta.
At this rate we won’t have to Separate. Its happening naturally.

  31. I am spittin mad and screw filing or paying any income taxes if this band of thieves manages to take over the country! a bloodless coup just a few short weeks after a democratic election where the people of this country said and loud and resounding NO to taliban jack and his co- conspitators. Can I legally not pay my federal payroll taxes too?

  32. While I agree 100% with the West separating,I am afraid it won’t happen.A gelded calf has more balls then Eddie Smellalot and Dandy Brad have.We need guts to tell the East to go f**k themselves and their junta, but unless we get Snortin Ed in,it just isn’t going to happen.

  33. Ed Stelmach had better soon get a Testicular transplant, this is not the time for millie politics. Shut off the money taps ED… These theiving bastards can’t do much without Alberta Oil MONEY ED!

  34. Time to say goodbye to the east. Even if the Cons retain the gov’t and get a majority next election, i still say separate. The NDP, Libs and the Bloc are not going to go away, it will only be a matter of time before they control parliment again.
The time is now, time to leave.

Firstly Eastern Canada financed nothing out here. I was our money stolen from us by high tariffs to protect eastern industry and jobs. It was our resources. It was our land. Eastern Canada has done nothing but steal from the West.
Secondly, I don’t care where our oil is sold. Eastern Canada buys little or none now. The US can buy it still. We supply the US with more tha Kuwait. Our reserves are vast and increasing. we can export by tanker anywhere in the world.
The message is Western Canada has NO NEED of anything done or produced in the East. Better and cheaper suppliers abound in thew world.
Eastern Canada has become a painful irritant for us and like any boil, you lance it, drain the pus that flows from it and get rid of it. Permanently.

  36. I heard that someone was conscidering a welcome home reception for good ole Goodale in the form of a hot tub party. Some were considering cash donations to view the event be made to a new Westren Separtist party, or donations of tar and feather pillow cases for the hot tube. I was wondering where to sent the donation.
