Alan Mutter, Nov.2; – “As soon as the election is over, the Washington bureaus and national desks at most newspapers, magazines and networks are almost sure to be dramatically reduced by their parent companies to offset the sustained declines they have been suffering in advertising sales.”
MediaBistro, Nov.6
[NBC News’ DC bureau chief] Whitaker told staffers that, if anyone’s thinking of retiring, to please reconsider taking the buyout package. Staffers have one week to decide.

They haven’t been taking the buyout because they simply cannot fathom living outside of the cocoon that has sheltered them for so long.
The political and economic world they helped to build, via their bias, is scary to them.
Kate. A trivial technical detail. Your first link ‘Alan Mutter, Nov.2;’ yields, on my linuxbox using FF2, a ‘Page Not Found’ error. Apparently FF2 on linux isn’t smart enough to add the ‘l’ onto the .htm(l)’ extension part of the your link necessary to get to that newsosaur blog post without error?
WHAT! Take a buyout and have to get a real job? Yoop nailed it.
I’m sure there will be plenty of staff positions for these people in Obama’s new Ministry of Truth, Hope and Change.
Now this is such a delicious example of irony. All the minions of the leftocrats did such a good job of getting rid of a right wing government that they will not be needed to report on the commie gov’t that they helped to place in power, and in doing so also eroded the very last shred of credibility they had. Who wants to listen to a network whose only news is no different from a half hour Obama infomercial?
I watched a bit of the “situation desk” on CNN last night, and they were still trying to report on dirt about Sarah Palin and in-fighting in the Republican party!! They lost the freaking election you morons! You can quit trashing them now! I think it’s just habit for them now, to trash all things right.
It will take years of rebuilding trust (if they even try) before anyone actually thinks to trust something coming off the newsdesk of any of the MSM spiggots.
I guess it’s time conservatives took a page out of the lefty playbook and start “installing” right wing commentary into every available media outlet.
At first I was kind of disappointed that Obama won…but now that I look at things, I think this is going to be a VERY interesting next couple of years. I think that the “right” wing media (radio talk, blogs, etc) is really going to take root and become the dominant source of news for most people (excluding stoned hippies and college students who will continue to get their news from Jon Stewart). Centrist news organizations like FOX will also continue to erode viewers from the leftwing media (ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, and CNN etc).
This is gonna be fun to watch!
Why doesn’t the MSM stop all the machinations they currently employ?
They simply need to officially band together, then join the Democrat party.
Without the MSM the Dems would assuredly lose most elections. If they just quit trying to act unbiased, and become an arm of the Democrats, the MSM would quickly become the dominant faction.
Al-Jazeera’s hiring.
MSM:
Good riddance you treasonous, lying, manipulative, propagandist vermin scum.
We will not miss you when you’re gone.
Oh, and unlike Canada, there is no appointed senate reward an no governors general.
You lose, pond scum!
MSM? I prefer the term “legacy media.”
Commenter at Newsosaur’s blog gets plugs in for the Beeb and CBC/Pravda:
“I’ve pretty much resigned myself to relying on the BBC and CBC for an unbiased view of what is going on in the U.S.”
British journalist covering Barack Obama caught on camera in drunk, plagiarism rant
Adam Smith, of Birmingham Mail, is YouTube sensation after drunken ‘F*ck you’ resignation and admitting to copying BBC
“I jumped on a plane on Friday to volunteer for the Barack Obama campaign,” Mr Smith explained in a strong, if rather slurred, Brummie accent. “As an ill-advised promise, I’ve decided to say to my paper back home that I’d write about the American election.
“I wanted to be here because I’m here for history. The trouble is, the readers of the Birmingham Mail are going to get my version of history. And I’m just a little bit pissed…”
With a laugh and a clap of the hands, he added: “And thank god for the BBC, because I’m cutting and pasting, oh, baby!”
Not wanting to seem too unprofessional, he added: “I’m a proper news journalist.”
[no doubt he is… lol]

What Warwick said.
The annointed one held his first press conference. Comments on the story at Drudge are mixed. First, he never took a question from Fox or MSNBC, second important questions were asked by CNN-what kind of dog will you buy-will your girls go to public or private schools.
Asked if he had talked to past presidents he said he had talked to all that were alive, then covered the goof with, I am not like Nancy Reagan and didn’t hold seances. If Palin has said that imagine the outrage.
That Nancy remark did not go over big with the tv audience. He did stress that until Jan 20/09 all decisions will be made by the lame-duck administration. Hey, does he not know that if he gets two terms, the second will be called lame-duck.
Also watched the news conference.
I noticed that he totally ducked a question from a reporter who asked him about the tax increase coming for those earning over $250K.
Instead of answering, he just fell back into campaign stump speech mode and passing gas about the 95% of the “working families” who will get a break.
“I think that the “right” wing media (radio talk, blogs, etc) is really going to take root and become the dominant source of news for most people (excluding stoned hippies and college students who will continue to get their news from Jon Stewart).”
Ther problem with this is that Obama and the dems want to pass the Fairness Doctrine” which will stipulate, among other things, that station will have to have balance i.e. not just Rush, and that stations will have to employ “liberal” directors on their staff.
So much for freedom of speech.
Horny Toad
They shopuld all parade down the Mall in Washington on there knee’s begging Obama for there journalistic salvation. They wanted a messiah, well let them enjoy it on skid row.

and the BBC got caught out last summer (if I remember the time correctly) of being bias against christians and Israelis when one of their internal memos was leaked:-)))))
I await the photo op showing a Shar Pei licking the Great “O”‘s cheek while he is chugging down a can of Bud. Until that, or something similar happens, my suspicions will remain.
