  1. C’mon pipples, why do you think central Canadians vote for Liberals and the BQ if not to tell westerners what to do. Fortunately central Canada will save us from ourselves, and stop us from entering the scary market place.
For those of your who think you can do better on your own: “Don’t think, you’re too dumb to think!”

  2. There is no reason to wait – do it now! Gun registry AND the Wheat Board. Dump them both at the same time. All the Prime Minister has to do is make it mandatory for ALL farmers to belong to the Wheat Board if any semblance of it is to remain. Crack open the books before dismantling to see how much the CWB has stolen from farmers in the west over the last 50 years. Make the crooks pay up by liquidating all their assets and return $$ to the people they stole it from…name names for the rest of us.
The day the CWB crumbles is the day my late Dad will be cheering from Heaven. He really hated that corrupt outfit and he was FORCED to deal with them. How wrong is that – being forced to deal with an outfit you have no use for?

  3. Make the gun registry and the CWB confidence bills and see if the liberals have what it takes to vote it down!

  4. I agree with Jema 54- get rid of both the gun registry and the wheat board. And as many other unnecessary programs as we can find.

    Hi Indiana!
I’m a “central Canadian” in Ontario. Thanks for your kind words! But could you finally, please give it a rest? (By that I mean the old western canard you resurrect that everyone east of Kenora is a west-hating liberal.)
I was knocking on doors in the dead of winter for the Reform Party (here in bad ol’ Ontario) back in the 90’s. I hope you did too. Many thousands of other Ontarians did, and we helped put Preston Manning into opposition.
In this year’s election, the “central Canadians” you disparage delivered almost half of Ontario’s 106 seats to the Conservative Party. The 51 Ontario seats Harper won is 35% of the total seats won by the Conservative Party. And also more than BC and Alberta combined.
Please don’t include “pipples” like me and other conservative “central Canadians” in your sarcasm.
    Just sayin’

  5. “Make the gun registry and the CWB confidence bills and see if the liberals have what it takes to vote it down!”
That is exactly the play the Libs and the rest of the left hope the Coservatives will make. It has been my observation that it doesn’t matter what a particular group actually does, or if a bill/law has been successful; it only matters what the name of the group/bill is. For example regardless of how Canada’s HRCs behave they are untouchable; why? Because they are the “Human Rights” commisions and if you are Conservative and you critisize the HRCs they you must be “against human right”. This goes for any group/bill that has any number of “special words” ie.. woman, gun ect…
This was covered on a thread here called “What’s in a name” I think. PERCEPTION IS REALITY, and the perception of a Conservative squashing the gun registry plays right into the Liberals hands. The Liberals may be too wounded to fight on this issue at this time so you may be correct; but, I still think it plays into the Liberals hands.

  6. Getting rid of the CWB is simple. Put it charge of ALL grains (corn, soybeans etc) for all of Canada. When Ontario & Quebec farmers realize they MUST sell through the CWB, the calls for its closure will be LOUD!.

  7. Quote “Demolish
    HRCs
    Gun registry
    CWB
    … in that order.”
CBC Too!!!! Or at least make it earn its own dime.

If the western farmers were half as organized as the Ontario corn producers, this would have been resolved years ago. Too many Liberals heading up the farm organizations or serving self interests. i.e. Bob Friesen, Keystone
P.S. Thanks Ontario (Food Chain) for your information given to us westerners.

  9. This a^&hole Penner does not need to be elected for anything. He will just be another socialist pig living off the CWB tit.I though you people were trying to get rid of the CWB,not elect more turds to it!!!
And Indiana, who cares who hands it plays into.Get rid of the crap, and all our hands are a lot cleaner.(Well OK.maybe not the Lieberals hands)

  10. First do away with the CRTC…wait 5 months (lieberal convention) and then all the aforementioned!

  11. In the coming CWB elections the only questions that wheat farmers have to have answered is this:
Why did the CWB refuse to sell wheat into the booming world market when wheat was $15 to $25/bu?
Who ordered the CWB to carryover 4 million tonnes to be sold (given away?) at today’s paltry prices compared to what they could have gotten last winter/spring.
    I’ll tell you what.
Anybody who still votes for the CWB monopoly after this extremely costly wheat marketing fiasco has to be completely nuts.

  12. The actual CWB poll numbers don’t mean that much, because this is a human rights issue — about the right of the farmer to dispose of his own property.
Farmers should no more be voting on whether to have a “single desk” or open system than on whether to have Corn Flakes or Rice Krispies for breakfast.
Incidentally, “single desk” is another anti-concept that really means “unfree”.

  13. Da can hadyhun whit bort is so sussessful for western farmher pipples we cannot him hagen it for da heastern farmwhores. dare for it is his for da west. Borat Dion- da finish leader dis side hove a balance sheet.

  14. The so called “monopoly teeth” of the CWB Act is in Part IV of the Act and applies EQUALLY TO ALL CANADA. Eastern farmers have never had anything but the granting of licences by the CWB (under Government direction) for their marketing freedom. Wht is that not good enough for Prairie farmers? A government order to the CWB to grant licences and stop discriminating against western farmers would have the CWB leading the charge for a workable voluntary CWB.

  15. I agree john, shove it down the easterners throat, if the other parties don’t want to rid the west of the CWB make Quebec and Ontario farmers subject to it.
Then we’ll find out how bad it is, we need a single desk to keep prices up, why not a single desk all across the country?
This election no Liberal or NDPer got elected in a riding where it was mostly farmers who are under the tentacles of the CWB.
If this is discrimination should we be sending complaints to an HRC????

  16. Can we stop “writing” the Steffi speak.
It has been painful enough having to listen to him throughout the election campaign. He is done and will be stepping down.Lets move on.
