If anyone out there knows of sites liveblogging tomorrow’s election returns from outside Canadian territory, drop an email to kate-at-katewerk.com so that I may denounce them.
Update:
The Surly Beaver
Allow me to be the first to denounce this rodentious nefariousity!

YEH Lets save the suprise to the end, your vote in Western Canada probably didn’t matter again.
I am thinking the Western Canada, especially BC, vote will count for a lot this year.
Wait a minute! Aren’t the voting hours staggered in each time zone so that they all close at the same time?
Here in Ontario, they are open from 9:30AM to 9:30PM local time. How about the other provinces?
Yes, they’re staggered, but I believe the Atlantic returns still come in before the west is closed. But I reserve the right to be wrong.
I already voted. Go CPC!
Good for the Surly Beaver. If people in this country are so stupid as to vote based on how others have voted before them, then we deserve the kind on government we get. I give the general public a little more credit for brains and integrity than do the political elite in this country. This is just another Big Brother knows best restriction.
As for the west, I would say that the voters in B.C. will have the biggest effect on the outcome of this election than will anyone else. The size of the Tory minority will be determined by the folks in Lotus Land.
Malcom Cross:
They’re staggered…but not perfectly. The NP has the list of times at…

“But I reserve the right to be wrong.”
Another classic one Kate. On another note, did you get any of that snow? Whatever happened to that warming thing?
As I’m working the polls here in Calgary, at least I know it will be a slam dunk so I can get home to see the results. No internet, no phones even in the polling station.
Voted in an advanced poll.
Picked the candidate from the nerd’s party. The nerd in the sweater, not the nerd in the glasses.
Sorry. Had to clarify that.
Go CPC!
Majority?
I hope to God so.
BTW. Woke up Thursday morning to find my local Liberal candidate’s sign on my property. That didn’t last long. Probably should call the campaign and tell them to pick up their trash before it goes from my garage to the ditch across the road.

I think you’re on safe grounds denouncing them, but maybe a bit shakier grounds denouncing them with a hyperlink.
Perhaps you should simply denounce them without a hyperlink and denounce Google too?
*Google’s a leftist organization that needs plenty of denouncing I’m sure we all agree.
Kate: I think we did a story some time ago on ancient fossil rodents still being alive in China.
We had some canadian ones as well, and dubbed them Rodentia LIEberalis.
The Rodentia also includes beavers, muskrats, porcupines, woodchucks, chipmunks, squirrels, prairie dogs, marmots, chinchillas, voles, lemmings, and many others.
The fossilized form definitely belong to the classification of “Small Dead Animals”.
Thus live blogging of small dead animals, such as Surly Beaver, during an election constitutes a noteworthy Pleistocene example of the rodent, which was thought to be extinct, the giant beaver, Castoroides, which was about the size of a bear.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castoroides_ohioensis
I am not sure whether Castoroides, the giant beaver, constitutes a large dead animal or a small dead animal.
Castoroides_ohioensis is also thought to have used the large shovel sized incisors to chew on Canadian wallets during the Pleistocene green shift as CO2 concentrations increased.

I’ll just wait until polls close in BC. The Ont polls will have closed 30 minutes prior. Yes some Atlantic Canada results will already be in. No biggie, it will still be early.
I did look last time and it was kind of boring, just biding time for the big media show.
If Tories have any chance at majority (ie-polls “significantly” off), it will BC that ultimately gives it to them.
There are going to a lot of bleary eyes in Atlantic party offices, with a three way battle leaving many ridings in doubt until full vote in.
I’ll save you the trouble for Newfoundland’s results.
1 NDP, 1 CPC and 5 liberal.
St. John’s East goes NDP to Jack Harris, St. John’s South-Mount Pearl goes Liberal to Siobhan Coady, Avalon stays Conservative with Fabian Manning, though it will be close. The rest will be Liberal ridings. You heard it here first.
I, for one, will use those hyperlinks to check on the nefarious actions of those scoundrels so that I can report them to… to… to… oh, yeah, to the Blogging Police, a powerful arm of the Thought Police.
I stand..er..sit corrected.
Lori, I hope I am very wrong in a Harper positive way.
I recall that in a number of the constituencies in the UK, the results are not released until 9:00 a.m. the morning following the election. It seemed a very civilized process at the time, but then, there was little concern about voter fraud either.
Western Canadian:
“YEH Lets save the suprise to the end, your vote in Western Canada probably didn’t matter again.”
Uh, you do realize that Western Canada now represents 30% of the population of Canada?
If western votes don’t matter these days, then it’s only because westerners have chosen to vote as provinces rather than as a regional bloc.
Griff – I don’t think that Newfoundlanders will vote for Deyawn – The Newfoundlanders have a strong tradition of being independent..have the descendants of the people who fought magnificently in two wars and declined to fall in line for Joey Smallwood (and joining Canada – selling NFLD to Canada at bargain bin price for no profit to NFLDers) folding like a cheap house of cards? Do any of you realize what will come of any future Que/NFLD hydro projects etc. if French citizen Deyawn and his trio (Dipper, Blochead, Greenies) of Communists form the next government? PMSH is your only hope..Danny is sooo wrong and he does all his province a huge disfavor. Danny not have a camera in the ballot box, I think the NFLD results will shock the nation.
For all your sakes (including Danny) I hope that I am right.
JJM It’s the numbers, seat numbers, population be damed. Have a look at past elections.
If Surly’s site goes down, I’m opening my currently not-used blog for reporting. I’m in America, the CBC rules don’t apply to me. And it’ll get me ready for November, when I have to slap people around with my election reporting. 🙂
Gotta love Bob Rae (not). On Puffy, after he was finished lobbying to be next LPC leader, having that role de facto anyway,
Rae was asked to answer the question Stephane Dion couldn’t/wouldn’t, and his response was:
1. Embark on infrastructure spending, without bothering to mention Tory platform which has identified at least as much as bloated Liberal promises on this issue.
2. Increase depositor protection (after all chartered bank(s) is (are) in danger of imminent failure), which will be a big help to the stock market.
3. Schedule a whole bunch of meetings.
4. Of course, say anything, no matter how stupid or dangerous, to get votes.
What he wouldn’t have done:
1. Reassure Canadians (better to try and scare the s**t out of them to get their vote).
2. Shore up credit markets, as Harper government has done (yeah, he had to make actual, not seminar room, decisions)
3. Show leadership rather than cheap stunts for votes, such as one described above.
4. Oh yeah, I forgot, he definitely wouldn’t, under any circumstances, give stock tips to Canadians (what a lame shot that was).
Lastly, what Rae/LPC (no difference any more), would do that he doesn’t mention:
1. Increase taxes.
2. Screw Green party for their votes (what Rae means by the Green Shift).
3. Try and figure out a way to pay back money they borrowed for this election, plus non-repayment of Dion’s, and others’ I think, debts.
4. Get rid of Dion ASAP.
There’s nothing like waiting until the day before the vote to tell Canadians what you plan to do about the financial meltdown.
Hey folks, I’m out of country too, but … where the heck do you find sources for results? All I get in Seattle is CBC-BC which is mostly useless.
Eugene:
Whaddya mean “mostly”?
Garth
Gee Jema, you are way wrong. NFLD is entirely Lieberal Red mostly thanks to Whiney Danny boy and his ABC (Anyone but conservitive) campaign. I hope the ROC is not as shallow as the sheeple from the Rock.
