Age Of Obama

Michelle Malkin, from a lengthy post;

In an imaginary world where liberal journalists are held to the same standards as everyone else, Ifill would be required to make a full disclosure at the start of the [vice-presidential] debate. She would be required to turn to the cameras and tell the national audience that she has a book coming out on January 20, 2009 – a date that just happens to coincide with the inauguration of the next president of the United States.
The title of Ifill’s book? “Breakthrough: Politics and Race in the Age of Obama.” Nonpartisan my foot.

I’m with the many others who think Palin should open the debate by congratulating Ifill on her book.

  1. Uh Tim, I was not referring to all conservatives, there are many thoughtful and respectful conservative minded people – in fact most are – I was referring to the yahoos posting on this thread about this non-issue

  2. Todd, Refer to above post. Read it a few times, let it sink in. This is only a “non-issue” to you because you think that having her as moderator will help your candidate. I have long since given up on expecting even the appearance of even handedness from your side though. You liberals are so certain that you are right that you are incapable of fairly evaluating other points of view. I will leave you with a last thought.
“If you have never considered the possiblity that you might be wrong, you probably are.”

  3. Tim – this is my last responce as you seem hopeless
    #1 He’s not my candidate.
#2 It’s an issue only because you are paranoid, and think everyone takes sides and can’t be impartial. This is true only of extremists on both sides.
#3 John McCain approves of her and didn’t bring up this issue for that reason.
#4 Repub supporters are scared to discuss the real important issues and worried about Palin’s performance – hence all these distractions – lipstick, debate moderator, ect.
#5 I’m not a liberal or conservative supporter, I’m glad you are not just throwing out insults like some of others on here, and I enjoyed talking with you – I honestly have no favorite in this race – I just like honesty and dislike people who can’t think for themselves.
    cheers
and hopefully the debate will be tough and informative to all the voters out there

  4. todd: “It’s an issue only because you are paranoid, and think everyone takes sides and can’t be impartial.” (Pretty sweeping comment.)
Those of us with issues about Gwen Ifill are not paranoid and nor do we think that individuals who take sides are incapable of being impartial.
The point is, Gwen Ifill has shown herself to BE biased. Her coverage of Sarah Palin’s acceptance speech was not up to her usual objective standards.
Heck, I like Gwen Ifill. I’ve always found her professional and informed. I watch The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer on PBS all the time.
Which is why I was so disappointed by the way in which she handled her reporting duties at the RNC. When she spoke about Sarah Palin, her disdain for her was palpable and the look on her face was one of pure disgust–the Gwen Grimace. It was CLEAR how she felt about VP candidate Palin and being the professional journalist she is it shouldn’t have been.
After many viewers sent e-mails to NewsHourOnline about Ifill’s partisan coverage of Sarah Palin, she was pulled from further reporting on this file. I don’t think it was paranoia that caused the NewsHour decision; they obviously recognized that there was a problem.

  5. Palin apparently has a reputation fo being a good debater. I hope these are true. She should be left to be herself; forget the “training”.
    Fingers crossed.
