Take Your Retirement Package And Get Lost, Mary Walsh

Audiences gathered around tables in a local pub Monday night to make a long overdue point about St.John’s actor Mary Walsh.
Volunteers dressed as Princess Warrior Marg Delahunty took turns on stage to denounce conservatives of varying political persuasions, in recognition of Walsh’s recent attention seeking behaviour.
Participants at the event were invited to “change the channel” on supplied TV remotes — like they do at home when witnessing the real life version of a saggy, bitter taxpayer subsidized never-was drag her worn schtick through the political weeds on their dime.

“I thought, ‘Well, there’s not very much anyone can do, I suppose, but I could go down and sit on my hands until she goes away,’ ” an audience participant told a CBC reporter in attendance.

  1. Notice how liberal hacks are stacking the CBC comment vote section, in support of Walsh. They are a very desperate, sick bunch.

  2. All Canadians should be very ashamed of the CBC and Mary Walsh. They only respect themselves and show contempt for all Canadians that are forced to pay their salaries. CBC continues to fail Canadians.

  3. One standard for CBC personality election interference and one standard for everyone else.
Rick Mercer, David Suzuki, Avi Lewis, pornstar Suck Yin Lee are just a few of the sneering anti-conservative (non-news) CBC personalities.
Propaganda is their game. You are their financial backers.
    Suckers!

  4. Another whacko who couldn’t find a job in the real world, so they hired her at CBC. That`s the end result of “cultural grants,” I`d like to see how long she`d be on TV if she had to go the USA or ot a private network and get hired the the basis of popularity.

  5. More of the same from the CBC and the taxpayer funded “Arts” community. No surprise here at all.
blah blah blah Harper bad yada yada yada

  6. Walsh always managed to embarass conservative politicians with her ambush routine, but i don’t think it was for the reason she thought. It was just sad to see this second rater still trying to be funny and I suspect that’s why they often seemed embarassed. They were too polite not to humour her.

    Pathetic just attracts pathetic.

  8. This Candian thunder thighs is about as funny as someone sticking a broom handle into a rolling wheel chair.

  9. “Warrior Princess Marg Delahunty”?
Must be some worthless knockoff of a knockoff from the terrible “Hercules” series, huh?
    How original!

  10. SCTV, Kids In The Hall: funny.
This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Air Farce, Mary Walsh: lame beyond all belief.
Quite how we produced both the former and the latter is beyond me.
I read somewhere that Walsh, who was in the film Mambo Italiano, royally pissed off co-star and veteran Hollywood actor Paul Sorvino.

  11. Just another leach on the CBC tit who couldn’t get a bit part with the local theatre company but meets the lofty artistic talent requirements of the Mothercorp.

  12. It is beyond me to imagine how crude these people can be. We must get rid of the CBC immediately or I wish we could do that.
What a waste of taxpayers dollars and they can get away with the garbage and their distinct hatred of anything Conservative. Go Stephen Go.
Lets put Conservatives back in with a HUGE majority.

  13. “And I thought the world is so full of people who are smited or who have been ground relentlessly beneath some warrior’s heel.… But then I thought, ‘No one is saying anything.'”
The smear and fear message is wearing a little thin for the third or fourth go around.

  14. What bothers me about such shows is that they are totally, completely, absolutely – without cause.
They know nothing about what Harper has done for Canada, know nothing about the infrastructural development in roads, public transportation, water treatment in towns and cities, Great Lakes clean-up, Arctic development. They know nothing of his taxation infrastructure to enable and strengthen small to medium size businesses.
They know nothing about his insistence on human rights development in the world, his focus on strengthening democratic self-governance in the Middle East. They know nothing about his Turning the Corner plan on reducing greenhouse gases; nothing about his funding of alternative energy sources.
They know nothing about, for example, the 324 hybrid buses in Toronto, the rapid transit FLOW program for the GTA – all federal funding programs.
What do they focus on? His shyness, which they call ‘Cold-Hearted’..and then, they themselves ‘write up’ a fictional Harper – with a hidden agenda (which still hasn’t emerged despite the Liberal apocalyptic threats).
What bothers me is their total ignorance of what this govt has done and their focus instead, on a purely fictional person.
Heck – Dion complains repeatedly that ‘people don’t know him’ and complains that the Conservatives have falsely branded him. Have they? They’ve focused on things Dion has actually done (ie, the Green Shaft, Kyotoism, no-shows in parliament).
But the Liberals and their MSM propaganda arms have totally ignored what Harper has done and have instead, created someone who doesn’t exist. They inform us that this Fictional Creature DOES exist..and will emerge, like the Loch Ness Monster, when ‘conditions are right’. The conditions keep changing..from ‘when he wins an election’, to ‘when he wins a majority’..to..
Furthermore, this Fictional Creature is an apocalyptic creature; the world, and Canada, will collapse when it emerges.
Now -given these three facts. That the Liberals are talking about a fictional image that they themselves have created; that this image is apocalpytic in nature; that this image only emerges ‘in the future’…well, I have to say that the Liberals have morphed into a CULT. Not a political party.

  15. This Hour Has 22 Minutes, Mary Walsh: lame beyond all belief.
Nonsense. During the Chretien years, 22 minutes was the only thing approaching the loyal opposition, while Stockwell Day and the Alliance or CRAPP or whatever the yahoos were calling themselves in those days were the funniest thing on TV. It was a sad day for Canadian comedy when Day stepped aside.

  16. So, why is it that you can recommend comments, but you cannot “unrecommend” them? Seems like a flawed system, you can voice approval, but disapproval is silent.

  17. Funnier than Chretien’s “a proof is a proof when it’s proven”?
Funnier than Paul Martin in a leather jacket playing (acoustic) air guitar?
Funnier than the millions of Canadians like Walsh who blarther on about being “tolerant” but consistenly churn out this type of crap?
Funnier than the millions of Canadians who think Bush is dumb and then prove they’re even dumber by going out and voting for Chretien, Martin, or Layton?

  18. “How stunned does the prime minister think we are?” Walsh yelled out, as a bonfire crackled.”
Spoken like a true gubmint trough sucking elitist no talent with a plastic sword, and a retirement package the average trough filler would give their right arm for.

  19. I been thinkin’ Mary Walsh is pretty funny. We really love watchin’ her in Alaska. I also been thinkin’ only half of Canadians oughta be ashamed of Mary Walsh. The dumb half.

  20. It has always amused me that performers who feel that they are so talented and in demand cringe at the very thought of patrons actually being required to pay to see them perform. I assume that they possess just enough brain power to realize that, if left to their own devices (providing entertainment that was worth paying for) they would wither and die, sooner rather than later.
The CBC must be weaned as soon as humanly possible. If it sinks … so be it.

  21. Walsh is burning sweaters? Shouldn’t the AGW crew be trying to get people to wear sweaters instead of burning them in C02 producing fires?
I guess you don’t have to be very smart to work at the CBC.

  22. From the article at CBC news: “Walsh…earned the biggest crowd response when she tossed a large picture of Harper into the fire, even though it took a while to burn.”
Actually, disgusting, since it shows such lack of respect for the office of Prime Minister, in addition to being a brazenly infantile act of wanton idiocy.
So what if Prime Minister Stephen Harper isn’t a warm-fuzzy, “cute” guy? So, Bloody, What?
He’s the best leader Canada’s had in a long, long time. I used to like Mary Walsh. I don’t anymore, but I’ll refrain from throwing her picture into the fire. Walsh is behaving like a washed-up, has-been. ‘Nothing to respect in this childish and petulant show of pique.
Would you like a soother, Mary dear? You seem to be in a bit of a lather…

  23. get a sense of humor guys.
Oh yeah, us conservative voting arse licking canuks are so damn humorless.
AND She not just a over bloated dry drunk has been,
    right…

  24. Whenever I see Mary Walsh, I invariably have the same thought:
Is there anything more sad and cringe inducing than an unfunny comedian?

  25. So, is there any way of finding out how much taxpayer’s loot these no-talent schmucks receive from CBC?

  26. This is what my understanding of Mrs. Walsh about Pm harper by consider she is artist or actore like painter are talk differnt than us may be or express it weired but their group will get it not us easy:

and Walsh dress red as symbol of War ready to fight him to show Harper she is ready for him since she learn this act class and dress well
basically she plan to say Harper is only actor not real person can be trusted and do it for power of sword like old English in Britain did not care about people
when actor are talking we have to see thier view are differnt than regular or politican they talk with voice and dress and show or red color to attract audience it is like painter or artist expression are not quick understoon for people!
If canadina blogs and media show it all to US prsidency why not US media do not show Canada prim minster election probaly they think they are nobody tehy work underneath who ever come to politic any way they do not need to care about their power since they do not have they are second and USA is first and Muslim world are third world ask to become no. 1 never get it though still that is wish of Canadian is!!

as we see they are argue you are liars and otehr side respond No you are liars as CBC tries to said

let send some one to retirement and some not fight any more and stop hate toward people

  27. The comment below by nojusticenopeace on the CBC MSG board is the most dead on anaylisis of cons I ever saw. I wish I wrote it first.
For a long time the inability of conservatives to understand humour baffled me. Oh, they have a sense of humour, of sorts, but it tends to be either extremely physical, sadistic, or both — characterized by the kick-to-the-balls gaffs which are now so prevalent in Hollywood cinema they’ve become tropes.
Then it dawned on me that conservatives were actually sociopaths. They have a total inability to empathize with others, so more subtle humour is wasted on them. For example, in this case most ordinary people with a functioning limbic brain grasp the essential humour in the symbolic burning of fuzzy sweater vests; Harper is a cruel, unfeeling man whose policies will (and already have) harm many people, most of them the weakest and least able to defend themselves, and that he wears sweater vests to make himself look more Mr. Rogers-like is in itself darkly amusing. To burn them dressed like a warrior princess is a juxtaposition of false militarism destroying false humanity.
Most people grasp this instinctively, without any need to have it explained, because they are capable of empathizing. Conservatives, as sociopaths, miss it entirely. For them, humour consists in people they don’t like getting kicked in the balls, figuratively or literally. All they can see here is a guy they want to be elected getting kicked in the balls. They are literally incapable of perceiving it as anything else, since they assume that everyone around them is like them. After all, when they have a puffin crap on their enemies, it means exactly that: they want humiliation and harm to happen to those they oppose.
Knowing this, the reactions of the conservatives here is as completely explicable as it is sad: “Mary Walsh has kicked My Guy in the balls! Let’s kick Mary Walsh in the balls!”

  28. “Federal Conservatives admit that they are having difficulty in Newfoundland and Labrador obtaining normal levels of support and donations in the current campaign,”
Well that will keep the ROC all huddled together around a flickering cod liver oil lamp whimpering to themselves. ” All is lost all is lost, Lord have mercy Canada is lost.”
Accents, Newfies or Cockneys, just hearing them makes one chuckle and that’s their gift. No more no less.

  29. “Then it dawned on me that conservatives were actually sociopaths.”
And a pop quiz: Which of these symptoms seems like the likelier indicator of lack of empathy?
    1) Not laughing at a clumsy and unimaginative satire because it mocks something you care about and admire deeply.
    2) Attributing someone else’s lack of amusement at your mockery, and their differing political opinions, to mental illness.
If there’s a failure of understanding and empathy going on, it doesn’t seem like it’s particularly the conservative side.

  30. aside to Glenn – clever humour is usually a slightly off-real look at something. It has to be close enough to the real to be recognizable, but sufficiently different from something that would really happen to cater to ones sense of the absurd. Monty Python’s “Quest for the Holy Grail” where the French defenders try to trash talk, and finally wind up throwing chickens and cows over the walls is hysterically funny to me.
I find Mary Walsh about as sharp as Saskatchewan, and as funny as an Edmonton weather forecast in February. Her hyperbole doesn’t work for me because our worldview is so different that we don’t agree on “normal”, let alone how far from it one has to go to reach “humourous”. (and no, it’s not in your arm.)

  31. My question is where was the burning cross bearer – Heddy the Hag – fryer of Prince George – during this ‘fun fest?’ It sounds like her kind of party!

  32. Prancing around in a warrior princess costume at age 58? Too early for senility, so someone needs to grow up.

  33. It would be nice to see a harper majority just to see all these people who hysterically oppose go gulp….but you know waht, they know like I do that there really isnt a problem because there is no radical agenda…all those Stars didnt move to Canada because Bush won. Life carries on and bask in the warmth of their burnt credibility.
There is no noble cause, they just need to perform and this is something they can perform about. toss a penny in the hat of dancing drunk and keep moving on to your regular business.
