I’ll be busy in a seminar today, but this page may reveal the lucky 10 millionth visitor, if someone out there is quick enough to catch it. My guess is that we’ll click over around midday on Tuesday.
Update: As I explained, I wasn’t able to monitor the site during the big Sitemeter click-over due to other commitments. According to some of you, the 10 millionth visit came from Charlotte, North Carolina. Unless someone caught a screenshot of that visitor’s details, their identity will always be a mystery. But it was fun to watch the symbolic* number fall, nonetheless.
Thanks to everyone for your kind comments, and to the guest bloggers and commentors who help enrichen the content here. SDA has evolved into a bit of a monster, and it would be extremely difficult to manage it without the generousity of those who volunteer their time and their suggestions.
(*I say symbolic, because Sitemeter only captures a percentage of the traffic. The actual server stats register a few thousand visits more each day that don’t show up on the public counter.)

  13. Rob C: WK always says that the traffic at SDA is mainly the same old hard core few who return over and over and over again apparently about 10 million times. He forgot to throw in his own 10,000 little peaks. lol Thanks for the memories Kate and here’s to 10 mil more.

Three years ago I heard about your site when you did an interview on the radio. At that time I did not even know about the blogsphere. Thanks again Kate. I can’t comprehend how much blood sweat and tears that went into this site over the years but I am sure I speak for a lot of people when I say Thank you. Well done.     Honestly, you’ve saved the sanity of a whole lot of us here. Without SDA, we’d be whistling in the wind and going nuts, instead of speaking our minds, sharing information, being the disloyal opposition of the MSM and all its Orc-like cohorts, and making a difference to the public life of our benighted dominion. What a magnificent achievement!

    The first post I could find for this site is February 18, 2004. In ~4.5 years you got 10 million visitors. I assume you set up site meter when you made this blog. The next milestone will be 100 million visitors. Buy my calculations, if you grow your visitors by 5.5% per month, the 100 million visitor will be here in 4.5 years!

    Before sda, I really felt like I was living in a Proustian cork-lined room, so alienated did I feel with my unorthodox conservative-libertarian views. I knew NO conservatives except for my business partner and certainly no women conservatives. I came here thru a Steyn mention, and when I saw your reference to talking back to the radio I knew I found a island of sanity.
    And what a community you’ve created here, where I feel humbled by the great number of very smart folks who regularly post here.

  38. Congrats Kate! Stumbled over here from the Shotgun back in early spring 04 I believe, before the first Martin minority.
    By the way, your archives are from Feb 04 onward and there is a lone 2003 archive for the month of May. The url opens up to display your stalker’s band SFH webpage with a subliminal message.
