Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

this is a good sign IMO. Seeing Chinese execs holding press conferences indicates that the ROC is moving ever further towards democracy and first world business ethics. It is startling how far they have come from the near stone age conditions of the great leap forward.
To shut down trade completely would punish the ethical quality business operations as well as the bad.
I fully agree, Gord Tulk. What we are seeeing now, is ‘third world practices of industrialism, which are ‘do whatever it takes to get money’..a form of elitism.. being confronted with the capitalist CONSUMER’s needs and choices.
And the Capitalist Consumer needs goods that are quality, reliable, acceptable, affordable. That means that it isn’t the old socialist ‘whatever the Govt elite says’..it’s whatever the capitalist consumer will purchase. And we’ll only purchase quality goods.
Third world countries aren’t used to this and China is undergoing a huge ‘wake-up call’ and realizing this. The fact that we’ve kept trade open means that this situation is being confronted. They can’t get away with selling poiseded or damaged goods. In a socialist state – they can; the consumer has no choice. In a capitalist state, the consumer is The Boss.
You don’t piss in China without the government knowing about it. It was a cull.
Give them Jack Leyton, he will demand inspectors in every dairy and blame Harper for the mess.
…Global warming causes milk to curdle more quickly than anticipated or best before date.
It has now been proven by the UN and the scientific community that minute amounts of Melamine in baby milk helps reduce curdling time.

“To shut down trade completely would punish the ethical quality business operations as well as the bad. ”
Gord, I for one don’t agree. The Thugs who run China and the unethical capitalists here don’t give a rats a** about consumer safety. How could you market this quantity of produce without some lowly inspector somewhere finding it out? Are there any inspectors? Most of our corporations self regulate 100 times better than this. Our airline workers are catching problems all the time and reporting to government regulators when necessary; just as an example.

The problems Canda is again as i said

change woman befoe change men views who grow children here
As I and ET said, this is evidence of China moving from the third world to the first. They are not there yet by any menas but they have made huge progress.
And might I point out that our systems are hardly error and corruption-free. Both here and in China it is public scrutiny and consumer power that will hold producers to account if they produce substandard or unsafe products.
First, they put melamine in the dog and cat food and were caught when epidemic numbers of North American dogs and cats started dying mysteriously due to renal failure.
Then, they put melamine in infant formula and Chinese babies started dying mysteriously, more than usual.
I tend to be with Tomax7 and Gunney99: Why wasn’t being caught once enough? Melamine killing cats and dogs, you’d think, might alert Chinese manufacturers to the fact that it would be a very bad idea to lace baby formula with melamine. On the other hand, if life is cheap and seeing the little sparrow fall means nothing to you, then maybe you would try to bulk up your product with plastic masquerading as protein.
I wonder how many North Americans are avoiding China Towns in their cities? At least avoiding the purchase of foodstuffs? I wonder how many North Americans have stopped going to Chinese restaurants and, instead, go to Sushi or Thai restaurants? I wonder how many North Americans avoid buying ANYTHING from China?
If I know melamin from china is plastic less brakable products from China
if you use melamin from China you can not use microwave for it those posien and deadly if you use animal food in melamin maiteial and use microwave or warm thing
if I think You mean said the same Melamine I am talking about
melamin use for dishes in china to be cheap
chinnse are run the world they work hard adn tehy have so many people ther tehn theymsut work had first hey word as low income money for west and now they got indepnednt
Canada can do it if you inter so many X kilo form outside not goivemrne can subsic farmet to made more and not inter to get independant too
still is SUpply chain issue is mater
unless you use chinees canadina to help you
Ah, they don’t use pure melamine plastic to adulterate milk, baby formula, gluten, pet food filler, etc, that would be stupid and expensive. What they do use is a waste byproduct liquid from the urea fertilizer production process. You see it has to be cheaper and a bit less stinky than real urine which also works if the consumers aren’t too familiar with the taste of the 100% real product.
batb; you can also add lead in paint and in childrens toys, imitations of designer goods, people smuggling where the Chinese Military are involved, Chinese spies in NA industry, elections involvement, and cheap handguns smuggled to the criminal element. And that’s only a partial list.
Just a note from my trip to China – though my host was at the top of the pyramid in the dog show world, he had not heard a word of the tainted dog food scandal in North America. That’s how controlled the Chinese media is.
And I recall how others scoffed when I suggested that scenes I was seeing on CCTV of the Chinese army “rescuing” earthquake survivors were staged.
It’s hard to do but if I can I don’t buy anything “made in china”
On the one hand, one must despise and revile anyone who is evil enough to adulterate baby food. Shooting is too good for them.
On the other hand, are American bankers any better? They just hoisted their own country for a -trillion- bucks. Shooting is too good for them.
Yes, stomp out evil in China, but let’s not forget our own back yard. Plenty stomping to do here at home, I figure.
Kate: “And I recall how others scoffed when I suggested that scenes I was seeing on CCTV of the Chinese army “rescuing” earthquake survivors were staged.”
…did the patriotic music playing in the background give it away?
😉
The Phantom: “Yes, stomp out evil in China, but let’s not forget our own back yard. Plenty stomping to do here at home, I figure”
…i got an idea, feed the bankers baby food.
Get two birds with one stone.
tomax7: “…feed the bankers baby food.”
Good one!
Gunney99: “…you can also add lead in paint and in childrens toys…”
I bought a toy at a yard sale, cute little “muffin maiden,” that I knew my then-5-year-old would love. Within a few hours of playing with it, she broke out in hives all over her body. (I took photos, it was so dramatic.) It took me a while, a day or so, to isolate the culprit.
Sure enough, it was made in China. I wrote to the federal government department–‘can’t remember which one–with all details of the toy. Didn’t get an answer. This was in 1992.
All things made in China is crap…I bought the below things and had problems.
1. Razor – Have to smack it on the counter to work
2. Jacket. Washed and the metal buttons rusted
which screwed up the jacket
3. Winter boots that slip on ice all the time
4. Jacket – Zipper dosen’t work
As for buying food…no chancie Mr. Whalen
I also try to avoid buying anything made in China except guns and ammo. Chinese made SKS’s are so cheap that I stocked up on them about 10 years ago and also bought as much 7.62×39 as I could afford back them. They’ve shot just fine and the only Chinese ammo I’ve had problems with was 9 mm which my Glock didn’t like.
