  18. The beauty of a democracy is that such expressions are allowed,no riots,no bombings,no death. How the left can claim some moral high ground has truly evaporated in this election cycle,both in the USA and alas in Canada. I do not understand the hate but I continue to trust in the sanity of most voters ,please vote.
    P.S. Sometimes I hate being on the mature side and would during my more immature moments just want to shoot spitballs but being grownup I can only daydream ,take a deep breathe,and continue to encourage the angry to pause and think.

    It’s hard to believe that the values that motivated and were most revered by the greatest generation, the men who fought and died for freedom and decency in World War II and the women who sacrificed their sons and fathers and brothers to that noble effort, the very people whose blood and sweat and toil and tears made our present way of life even possible and to whom we owe an unaddressable debt of gratitude and respect, have been twisted and up-ended in the few short decades since that conflict to the extent that such ugly, unwarranted and cynical attacks on a woman who is trying to make a contribution by participating in public life and government could even be contemplated, let alone published, or considered clever, or considered “art”.

The left just exploded with anger, and the story was the New Yorker received more mail and messages complaining about this cover than anything they’ve ever done before. The New Yorker shrugged it off as a humourous piece of satire, lampooning the right’s view of the Obamas.

  28. swatter, I agree. I didn’t understand what the artist was trying to convey. The “commentary” wasn’t at all poignant — it was just a general hack job on Sarah Palin. There’s nothing about Sarah Palin to suggest she’s a threat to U.S. Liberty.
    And the best response which I can’t (sadly) take credit for:

  30. The comment section made me a bit nauseous. I didn’t quite puke, just sort of a pukey burp. One comment referred to her new son as a non viable fetus. What kind of person talks like that?
    The sketch is pretty good. I wouldn’t call it genius by any means. About as subtle as the three stooges. I haven’t heard a single comment from her people knocking America. They actually appreciate America. It’s Obama and his bitch that hate America, they said so.

    That was what really bothered me about this; using a Canadian icon for this scat. Using Canada to make a point. There are many American aircraft that are used in Alaska, the Piper Cruiser on floats is what is shown in all of Palin’s pics.

I think this infantile, which as I said will cause her pain when older. What I found so intriguing was the palatable hate with all these insane assumptions based on air. Made by these posters at her site. They are not a smart bunch at all.
    Political art is meant to shock. I think this went over the line of civility, but the consequences will be hers. As propaganda its to harsh with no foundation or connection to any true events or actions of Palins life. It comes off being course with just juvenile rage.

    RD — this was my immediate reaction, also. There was no material political commentary in the picture at all. I give the artist credit for pure artistic talent. But, as far as political commentary goes, the piece is a dead-end. It doesn’t say, or comment on, anything grounded in the real world.
    I simply shake my head at the positive comments posted on her site. The palpable hatred on the left is truly bubbling to the surface since Sarah Palin entered the U.S. political scene. I’ve known it was there for years (the “tolerant” left is a myth), and I can only hope recent events bring it to the attention of John and Jane Six-Pack.

    There’s a popular word for someone who voices their hatred of another group of people, particularly when that hate is based on stereotypes, not evidence. The word is “bigot”.

The more these people talk, the more they express their real beliefs and feeeeelings, the more voters in Canada and the USA can see them for what they are and choose accordingly.

    Well-said Exetez! I would only add that I find the “use” by Socialists of the words “Its for our future Grandchildren” particularly obscene. They have never done anything for anyone but themselves. We don’t need another generation of worthless Crack Heads.
