    I too was completely aghast when I read about the new and improved Ontario Rights Legislation and I’ve already written to every MLA in B.C., telling them this is the (wrong) direction in which Canada is moving.
    I’d love nothing more than to be a ‘proud Canadian’ and indeed, we do have much of which we can be proud.
    But between the new HRC legislation and the reported awarding of an Order of Canada to Henry Morgenthaler, I’m finding it very tough.
    It’s one thing to be proud of past accomplishments, but it’s very worrisome to look at the future to which we appear to be drifting.

    Lots of successful ‘Canadians’ who have achieved abroad, to return and continue.
    Although – if one looks hard – you’ll notice that a persistent theme is that Canada as a nation was far more international in the past than present. That is, we looked outward and inward – reflecting upon ourselves more, and challenging and emulating the positive notions we saw.
    Now, I posit that we have become a much ‘smaller’ nation, inwardly looking, mildly xenophobic, and far less bold in vision and aspirations. One hopes this condition would improve.

    The HRC members certainly want to foment confrontation – eg, our friend Lucy and his urging his student friends to ‘pie’ someone in the face. And the same individual posting offensive remarks on blogs to incite ‘contemptuous’ reactions. But, in order to achieve these reactions, the HRC posts have to be in understandable English! So, I don’t think haye is an HRC employee.
    I think he’s a leftist, a native speaker of English, and most certainly not Islamic, and simply a ‘bored juvenile’ who attempts to make trouble.
    The problem is, his attempt to pass himself off as not speaking English is bogus. Note also dhis claims that he works in Canada – an impossibility with his presenting himself as someone with a severe inability to communicate..
    He’s pretending to be unable to speak English by rejecting a grammatical structure; he just flings words around randomly. This ignores that all languages are grammatically structure. If he were legitimately non-fluent in English, he’s use the grammatical structure of his ‘mother tongue’.

32. justthinkin – heh, that’s a possibility. But I think the basic reason is that Islam’s ‘religious axioms’ are based within the Judaic axioms.
    Islam really has little to say about religion and what little it does say, is based primarily on the Judaic religion of the time. Islam is primarily a social, political and economic mode of life, a tribal life of the 7th century. It hasn’t moved out of that 7th c. tribalism and the tension derived from that out-of-date lifestyle meeting up with modern industrialism is what has led to Islamic fascism.
    At any rate, the rejection of images of god or ‘holy men’ is Judaic, for that religion wanted people to focus on good actions and not on individuals. They were concerned that focusing on individuals-who-were good, rather than behaviour as good, would trivialize to idolatry.
    There’s a lot in Islam that is based in the Judaic religion and also lifestyle – and that lifestyle is an adaptation to the middle east environment. Both peoples and indeed, most ME peoples reject the pig as ‘unclean’ and the reason for this taboo can be found in their environment.
    The ME in that period was moving out of economies focused around animals to one focused around crops – crops can feed more people using less land. The pig can’t be used for anything other than its flesh and skin; it can’t be milked, ridden, pull a plough. The pig, however, became too costly in an economy shifting to other foods and other animals. The pig taboo is found throughout the whole ME.
    There are a lot of explanations of ‘religious’ axioms that can be found within much more pragmatic causes. I’d suggest that the burka, the veil and headscarf have more to do with being an excellent way of dealing with blowing sand, and relentless sun than with any moral explanations.
    In many cultures, the basic causal force is the requirement to adjust to the realities of the environment. The cultural explanation which often has nothing to do with this necessity, comes after that first cause. Moving an environmental reason, into a cultural identity, and then making that identity a religious requirement traps a people into being unable to adapt and change.

    I am proud Muslim, you may call me restricted Muslim that I follow majority of rules of Islam in Canada as long as permitted by law here.     I am an engineer and I have Canadian Engineer iron ring I know 99% of English words even most difficult words I can understand 99% of English words and I can spell majority of English words correctly if I am not typing the word in rush. I am bad typist and have sometimes bad grammar I know grammar but I do not use it all the time I do not know why. When I type with words with errors I do not care to come back and fix it.
    That is funny you say that I am one of you because on one hand you say I am idiots and on other hand you say I am one of you just pretending I am Muslim then we can be both. I like mathematics, physics, chemistry and science. I like reading, if you give your difficult English literature such as Shakespeare I can understand and explain to you but not write well.

    So, the costume of fraud is starting to drop away. But, there’s more to come. As we all said, haye/moss, and his various other names, was pretending to be incapable of speaking English.
    I’ll stick to my first conclusion; he’s fluent in English. He now admits he’s fluent in reading; heh, he’s fluent in speaking and writing as well. That was obvious in his mistaken tactic of rejecting grammar to pretend he couldn’t speak English, and in his correct spelling of difficult words. The random flinging of words was a fraud, meant to present himself as a victim, an underprivileged immigrant. Didn’t work.
    He’s also not a Muslim; his knowledge is too superficial.
    And, he is insulting Muslims by his presenting them, not as capable of reason and analysis, as many Muslims like Salim Mansur and Tarek Fatah do, but as hapless, illiterate, and threatening mindless puppets.
