  1. This could lead to proper legislative changes. The necessary criminal investigation to their actions will also be needed.

  2. Just on the drive home I was thinking about how I wasn’t going to vote Tory. My vote is still up in the air – I don’t want reform, I want abolition.

  3. In the referenced article, Ezra writes, “The Conservative government has introduced a motion to Parliament’s Justice Committee proposing an investigation into the abusive, corrupt practices of the Canadian Human Rights Commission. The motion specifically refers to public “concerns” about the CHRC’s “investigative techniques” and their “interpretation and application” of the section 13 thought crimes provision.”
This is, I think, a very important result. I think it represents a strategic advance culminating from a number of tactical battles that have been won of late. I think it’s a good idea to celebrate battles won, and so I am now doing so, yet remember that tomorrow the war goes on. So for me this is high fives on the one hand, and on the other hand it reminds me of Sun Tzu, who wrote: “When it rains upstream and froth is coming down on the current, if you want to cross, wait until it settles”.
In other words: it is raining upstream. The froth is coming down on the current. For the Government of Canada to cross, it has to go through the normative settling process, and is now attempting to do so. Or would you prefer anarchy?

  4. It will be a white washing showcase for government & by government to lull us all into thinking something real has altered. Most likely they will stop any more assaults on Papers or famous Journalists, if not have allegations dropped against them. Real changes will be cosmetic or sound impressive with little impact. Maybe tighten up section 13. The only way to slay this beast besides revolution is to as Ezra say’s . Fire them all!!! I have little faith in that after 40 years of neo-Marxist recruitment in Ottawa & Provincial Bureaucracies.
Nothing more , nothing less at this stage will be there total eradication or should be. There deceitfulness has mutated into a pandemic of illegality in the name of tolerance or include the whatever new socialist fad in the blank_________
Only the people of this Nation can shot this rabid dog down, its too much of an enticement for any political group to keep this type of organism of repression. They most be told if it stays they go period!
    Just my opinion.

  5. Rae or Trudeau will be prime minister before this is over and the investigation will be put on the back burner or dropped outright. Then look for severe punishment for those who caused the investigation to come for the fore in the first place.

  6. A ‘motion’ about a ‘proposition’ made in committee isn’t exactly red meat conservatism.
Has this passed committee or have the Libs and Dippers blocked it? If you go to the committee’s home page it says “no meetings scheduled”. It appears that this is almost literally the least the government can do.

  7. and there’s more!
The Canadian Association of Journalists has formally applied for standing as an intervenor at the upcoming British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal hearings on a complaint of religious and racial discrimination against Maclean’s magazine.
great way to start the weekend.

  8. The left has momentum going for them. They must be stopped dead in their tracks. And that means exactly what RD says. Figuratively, we have to see a body count i.e. we have to see their sorry butts on the unemployment line. Fired with cause – no severance package. Board up the CHRC shop & send everyone home.

  9. after reading that c-suckers memo(Dickleson) I have reservations.
At a guess this has something to do with 2 high profile folks coming up to bat and the Majorette seeking cons are playing both sides, now.

  10. Just remember….Warman gets his advice from Kinsella.
Kinsella has all the right connections to subvert justice.

  11. vitruvius – i’m with you – law, order and good government – i have enough anarchy in traffic on the way to work. i am ever so pleased that the human rights commissions are about to be pulled over.

  12. Luuuuucy… NOW look what chooo started!
Write your MP. Demand that ALL of Lucy’s “wins” be subjected to Court of Queen’s Bench review. It’d be only fair if the a$$hole had to repay all or some of his “Judgments”. Be sure to copy Rob (my head’s in the sand) Nicholson on your emails.

  13. Vit, I agree. A pessimist says “you Can’t Push a Rope”. An OPTIMIST says “Piss on it, Freeze it, and Push it!” QED.

  14. Agreed, vitruvius, both about the froth and the thanks to zeus and the various gods that the world isn’t run by pessimists.
I think this step of an investigation is a correct first step. The HRCs have set the situation up, all by themselves, by their corrupt behaviour. They’ve flooded the river and the local towns; now, we build the dam to control it. And so much for that metaphor.

  15. Help Rob Nicholson keep his head out of the sand. Now that he’s breathing air, keep him at it. Email him daily asking for progress reports. cc pm@pm.parl.gc.ca on every email. Copy your MP too. Keep this issue in his eyeballs! Screw Quebec. THIS is a NATIONAL issue.

  16. This is a small step in the right direction. But a very important and encouraging one.
I’m with Vitruvius – if people don’t even make the effort, they should shut up and move along. We’re busy spending our time and money fighting a battle for the future of this country, and don’t need naysayers dragging us down with cheap talk.
And I think we are winning in small ways, but doing better than anyone would have predicted a few months ago.
If anyone on this forum had even talked about criminal investigation, parliamentry review, liberal and conservative members of parliament, national journalist organization critisism of the Human Rights industry a year ago, they would have been laughed off the page.
Look how far we have come.

  17. Agree Vit and Lori. It’s like steering an oil tanker, but with enough effort, even an oil tanker can change course. The only absolute certainty is that zero energy will get zero result. Let’s keep pushing.

  18. It is interesting to consider that with the importance weighed on having an effective opposition for our parliamentary system to function properly, the ruling Harper government had to step to the plate and do themselves what the LPC had the responsibility to do for Canada.
    Defend our basic rights.
I think ‘flaccid’ somewhat describes the current LPC opposition.
Unless I have missed(a possibility)an outraged lib or dipper demanding these ‘Tribunals of Political Correctness’ be abolished, I couldn’t understand why a hapless opposition leader like Dion wouldn’t seize a ‘scsndal’ like this and run with it.
I can only conclude that the vast majority of those on the left, led by Dion or bin Layton, simply see no problems with these arbatrary violations of our freedoms.
That’s what our schools and the vast majority of our media have done to this country.
    And they called Harper scary.
BTW, somebody tell Harper to get his ass out there and give this country an inspirational speech on the value of our freedoms, the terrific price we have paid for them and the fact we must always be vigilant in protecting them.
That’s what a great CONSERVATIVE PM would do.

  19. everyone who has asked for intervenor status on the Lemire trial has been denied by the HRC. They won’t/can’t bow down to Steyns trial.

  20. This is good news. It is also minimal news.
PMSH has thrown us a scrap and now it is time to push that scrap into something which works.
We have email and a number of bloggers have become experts in the corruption of the CHRC. We need to send emails by the thousands to the members of the committee and we need to send them suggestions for their witnesses and their questions.
We need to start quickly and keep pounding them. Email everyday. Lets get a list of the Committe members and start hitting them with the facts…daily.
We are winning but we have not won.

  21. I doubt the resolution will get much further than being tabled in committee. It would be great if people got behind this and it found traction. One can only hope that this interstitial infestation has not spread rampantly within the Canadian Govt. as a whole. A full and proper investigation fitting the transgressions of this entity should proceed post-haste and any attempts to thwart such inquiry should be dealt with. As another poster asked ‘Why is this not all over the media?’…Sadly, I think that concern may provide a clue as to the future trajectory of the (potential) investigation…an investigation sliding into the realm of red-tape, obfuscation, and misdirection. Abut-lack of media interest with the lackadaisical and, all too often, heard-like mentality of most of our citizens (many of whom placing partisanship ahead of right and wrong) and it seems unlikely anything will come of this. Yet again, another example of individuals getting the government they deserve because of their sheep-like mentality and inability to stand up for what should be done. But, I cannot fully blame the citizenry who have been beaten down by a government bent on not listening to the needs, wants, and dreams of their constituents. People are busy with work, life, family, and all the miscellany that is made MORE difficult via a government with a deaf ear and a blind-eye.

  22. The HRC’s, like the CBC, are of the Left and for the Left and will always be the enemies of any common sense and reason espoused by Conservatism.
The Opposition Liberals, NDP and Bloc will not support this motion, it not only doesn’t play to their ideology but it’s a tool to smear and smudge.
There are no bigger hypocrites than the Left who espouse Human Rights and Freedoms but not for everyone. In their world some are more equal than others and the discretion hinges their ideals.

  23. Sheila: “This is only a year late …”
Yeah, well, the CPC form a minority government…They’ve performed a lot of miracles …
    …but they’re not God.
