  1. “God, I hope this is never reported. Does anyone have a tape recorder? I’ll pay!”
Presumably she said this tongue in cheek.
How old is she and how long has she been a reporter? Surely long enough to know nothing is off the record…

  2. “‘The press let the country down,’ Thomas said. ‘We might not even be in this war if the press had asked the right questions. … (Bush) should have been nailed — ‘Why are we going to war?’ If you’re going to be afraid, don’t be a reporter.”
So the job of the press is more than just reporting and commenting on news.
Its job is to act as an entirely unelected, self-appointed arbiter of government policy.
And the MSM wonders why it’s on hard times.

  3. It’s not for nothing that Helen Thomas is regarded as the media’s crazy old aunt in the attic. I wonder if Maureen Dowd ever looks at her and sees the future.

  4. … “And we’re accused of torture more than the Chinese” …
Typical of the anti-American media there is the proof that she would let false accusations ride over facts.

  5. … “And we’re accused of torture more than the Chinese” …
But not of infanticide, human fetus soup, harvesting of prisoners’ organs, etc.

  6. Anyone else see the latest jewel from the mouth full of teeth aka Carter?
“In a democracy, I realize you don’t need to talk to the top leader to know how the country feels. When I go to a dictatorship, I only have to talk to one person and that’s the dictator, because he speaks for all the people.”
Can we offically diagnose the alzheimers now?
Cheers to AP over at HotAir for finding that one.

  7. Hamas is a Wahhabi front. They can no more coexist with Israel than they can deny their God.
The only chance for peace in the Middle East is if we destroy Hamas not to give them more credibility as President Carter has done.

  8. What does Jimma think would happen to peace talks if he was sniped from a mosque while tooling around the Middle East?
It’s unbelievable that this guy ran the United States Of America.

  9. THE PEANUT EATER KID is a illigidimate child no wonder the LEGION OF SUPER HEROS rejected him

  10. Who cares about what Carter said now and 30 yrs ago. hbe is not in office anymore.
You would rather attack the messenger than respond to the meassge since it does not correspond to your narrow misguided 50 era ideology
Why not direct your concern who is screwing up the state of the world today Neocons
The truth has a liberal Bias.

  11. (Iraqis) have 5,000 years of civilization.
No, Helen, Iraqis have perhaps five years of civilization, all of them courtesy of the United States. The Greeks originated the noun barbaros to describe somebody who came from that part of the world. It has entered the English language as the noun “barbarian”, for good reason.

  12. Just we have this straight Glenn. You are good with a world famous politician putting flowers on the grave of a mass murderer and then having a group hug with a bunch murdering terrorist scum?
    To correct your last line,
    Isanity has a liberal bias.

  13. It seems pretty simple to me, Carter probably learned at a very young age, in small-town Dixie, to hate Jews. He probably doesn’t even know that’s the basis for his intellectual wandering.

  14. Glenn, is that 1950’s era or 50’s era?
    Bit of a difference
    Jimma gets it.
Jimma wants to make sure that everyone knows that Democrats, like Obama and him are cool with a first century world view held by the Islamic fundamentalists he seeks to legitimize with his visit”.

  15. Oh crap!
That’s another coffee and danish wasted on my keyboard. You might have also warned us Kate that the photo content would not be suitable for those of us trying to digest our morning meals.
I’m thinking that a scotch might be needed now to wash the taste out ………….

  16. One dare not sip liquids while reading this blog.
Surely your grits have a couple of ceremonial holes, excuse me, roles for the likes of a Thomas and Carter. Neither of them can survive without constant media attention. How utterly humiliating for their family and my country.

  17. hey richfisher MR grammer Policeman
1950’s era or 50’s era? Actually there is no differance to most. since most people assume the 50’s refers to the 1950s. You know the magic conservative era where most of who post on here antiquated opinions are stuck.
I know I left the off “s” I type quick LOL, but the word era is the key it refers to a distinctive period in time ,or are you refering to the 50 year old age group thats not an era.
Who cares what Carter says or does, he can do what he likes. Its just a distraction from the real issues. Why dont you Focus your scrutny on the current commander and chimp. There lies the story.

  18. Swing and a miss by Glenn. He’s 0-2, and looks severely over-matched. One more curve ball from the SDA regulars and it’s back to the bench for this lefty.

  19. The next in a long line of moonbats to voluntarily take the witness stand to confess how irrational and unintelligent they really are:
    Glenn!
“The truth has a liberal Bias.”
A triumphant example of a non sequitor there bonehead.

  20. The Iraq war should have never started in the first place. Bush adminstration lies about WMDs to go after the Iraq OIL.
lets see 400O Us troops dead
Unknown number of iraq civillians dead too many to count and much more than the us will admit.
even greater instability and US resentment the middle east.
The only people winning are defense contractors and oil companies. Did ya buy gas today.

  21. Glenn,
    You’re a retard. Go away.
Anyone too stupid not to see the glaring logical errors in both the “Bush lied” idiocy and the “no war for oil” idiocy doesn’t deserve to speak.

  22. Like most folks, Glenn has no idea what a true “war for oil” looks like… it certainly doesn’t look like Iraq.

  23. Not true Warwick, after all, how then would we know who the morons are if we don’t let them spout their tripe?

  24. oh thats all you guys have name calling since I dont agree with you. weak. A typical tactic of the right.
lets debate the issue if you want respect you have to give it.

  25. “1950’s era or 50’s era? Actually there is no differance”
    Glenn
Your right, there is no “differance”, Glenn.
The “difference” however, is 1900 years.
Jimma and you can find no “differance” between first century Arab tribalist culture and modern Liberal democracy, from Leave It To Beaver.
You’re not allowed to touch the cash register are you Glenn?

  26. I didn’t call anyone names; I accused someone of not recognizing what a “war for oil” looks like, but there was no name calling…

  27. Ok, Glenn,
If Bush lied, explain how he got all those anti-war countries like Canada, France, Russia, Germany all to agree to the lie and have their own spies confirm the lie when they didn’t even share Bush’s objectives?
If Bush can do that, he could have planted the evidence of the damn things, no? EVERYONE’s intel was the same. There is a difference between making an honest mistake and a deliberate lie. Learn them.
Second, if the US wanted oil, they could have bought it on the open market for a fraction of the cost in money – never mind lives. Only an economically illiterate fool who has no comprehension of markets would accuse a nation of spending a fricken TRILLION dollars and counting for the “stolen” right to buy Iraqi oil AT MARKET RATES. Seriously. How stupid is that concept?
If the US was so Machiavellian that they’d kill all kinds of people to “steal” oil, Hugo Chavez would be an easier target and they’re a lot closer.
That you don’t see these glaringly obvious things make you unworthy of debate. I wouldn’t chat multi-variable calculus with a 3 year old. There’s no point talking world events with you.

  28. well thanks for enlightining me warwick . yet still Canada, France, Russia, Germany were smart enough to not go into Iraq.
Can you tell me what objectives that have been accomplished in Iraq
other than enrichin big oil and the Military industrial complex

  29. 20,000,000 or so people get to vote freely and they have done so with great gusto. How dat for a start?

  30. thats if they can get to the polls without being killed,
    nice try, next
    the silence is defening

  31. So, freedom isn’t worth fighting for if it might be risky? Better they’d lived on under one of modern time’s most brutal dictators?

  32. “thats if they can get to the polls without being killed,
    nice try, next
    the silence is defening”
Okay, Glenn, let’s try for a semblance of literacy.
“That’s if they can get to the polls without being killed. Nice try. Next? The silence is deafening.”
Don’t try to thank me, just FOAD.
Remember, a man is never so tall as when he stoops to help an idiot liberal.

  33. Glenn,
“yet still Canada, France, Russia, Germany were smart enough to not go into Iraq.”
Russia, Germany, France were all doing business with Saddam. That’s called corruption. In Canada, our prime minister had family ties and ownership of some of the French companies which were doing business with Saddam. That’s called corruption.
As for the war’s effectiveness, I’m glad people like you were ignored in 1940, or 41, or 42 or any time all the way up until after it was clear that D-day was effective. Previous to that, we were getting our asses kicked all over and the situation looked grim and to some – like your type – like it was lost. There were calls to negotiate peace with Hitler.
At any rate, you don’t get a mulligan in life. You start with now and work forward. There are no do-overs. Now, the US is in Iraq. Now, the US has to deal with that. It’s in NOBODY’s interest for the US to lose. Not even your friends at whatever conspiracy theory club you belong to.
And, Big oil has bugger-all to do with it. Give up that asinine, anti-intellectual, tin-hat stupidity. You only make yourself look like a fool. If you’re an oil exec, where would you rather be operating: Iraq or Alberta? The US companies have lots of investments in Alberta. It’s a much better, safer, cheaper investment than trying to operate in a war zone. Businesses generally don’t like instability and uncertainty. But being an economic and logically challenged illiterate, that wouldn’t have occurred to you.

  34. Warwick that is your opinion duly noted.
I have my opinion as well I dont have to use insults/namecalling to express mine
Just so you know I agree with the descion to go into Afganastan. I have relatives who fought in WW1 and 2 that I am very proud of them. They ensured mmy right to free speech, and differing opinion.
Each circumstance should be judged accordingly. all wars are not created equal. War is not pretty and often nessasary,
things are not just black or white there can be shades of grey . some of us see in color.

  35. “the silence is defening”
You think this is quite, wait till CNN pans Jimma’s face in Obama’s campaign HQ on election night.

  36. Glenn,
“thats if they can get to the polls without being killed,”
Yup, a few more deaths and they’ll match an average election in India – that other notorious failed state.

  37. Glenn,
There are many solid, legitimate reasons for someone to have been against the war in Iraq.
Sadly, you illustrate none of them.
I was against the war in Iraq because they spelled Iran wrong and targeted the wrong place. They could also have deposed the house of Saud in Saudi Arabia. Between Iraq and Saudi, you have 90% of the terrorism problem.
Alternately, you could have been against the Iraqi war because the US shouldn’t be in the business of fighting for other people’s freedom. That’s the isolationist line. A line very popular between 1939 and 1942 as well as now. It’s an attitude I disagree with but it’s at least honest.
Delusions about conspiracy theories, lies about how bush lied, and some illogical assertion about how oil companies would love to go work in war zones are not intelligent arguments and leaves out the most important consideration: the US is already there. Your starting point is now. Whether you were for or against the war to begin with is uselessly irrelevant. The war IS. The US has two choices: win or surrender. There isn’t a third option to pretend it didn’t happen.

  38. “I have relatives who fought in WW1 and 2 that I am very proud of them”
    Which side?
    “I dont have to use insults/namecalling ”
“the magic conservative era where most of who post on here antiquated opinions are stuck.”
    “chimp”
“A typical tactic of the right.”
    “weak”
