  2. -15 C with windchill this morning, and 6 cm of snow on the ground.
    Yup, Global Warming is a serious factor here in Calgary. People like to argue that the “weather” is different from the “climate”, but it is amazing the amount of contrary scientific evidence mounting against the established “fact”. With NASA robot bouys showing a cooling trend in the oceans (the models require a significant warming trend to be correct), the “hockey stick” disproven by the Medieval Warming Period (although I still see it published), NASA’s corrected climate data showing the 1930s to be the actual warmest decade on record (funny how that got swept under the carpet), and the investigation of the weather stations in the US for what I call “temperature neutrality” by Climate Audit dot org (they appear to be in recent temperature hotspots; I’d say that skews the data), it is astounding people can criticize Don for his opinion.
    And I am not even discussing the lack of water vapour modelling, guesses at cloud effects on the global climate, and most importantly, the blatant assumptions in the model on the effects of CO2 increase on temperature (the gradient for temperature increase in relation to CO2 concentration increase is apparently an untested assumption).
    Any literate or scientific mind that blindly believes AGW is insane. AGW may be a real fact, but there is severely insufficient evidence to justify a complete gutting and remodelling of our economy.
    And kudos to Don for speaking his mind. Funny how Freedom of Expression is allowed for certain segments of the population, and others are shouted down and ridiculed for having contrarian views.

  3. Hey everybody, don’t forget to watch CBC’s first real stab at the HRC/Free speech issue tonight on the Sunday Night version of the National — “CBC Sunday” or whatever it’s called. Ezra is interviewed in it, apparently.
    If everyone who’s been following the story watches it would be a win-win: if the report is reasonable, CBC will see that their ratings went up because they covered something of interest to the Trudeau’s un-Canadians, i.e. actual Canadians.
    If the report is another imbalanced, pro HRC/Lib-bureaucracy, 416 cover-up special that omits the salient points, it would get a tasmanian devil dustball of blogo-fury going.
    7 pm, I believe.

  4. The point to all the GW retards. It ain’t happening. The pressure’s going to mount as this lie becomes increasingly hard to deny. There is going to be a hugh grassroots backlash. DZ and AG and the IPCC will be changing gears as fast as Kate on her motorbike. I expect we will see a lot of back pedalling and new twists from the “save the environment” crowd.
    Here’s a point to ponder to anyone who has any sympathy for looking after the environment. You’ve done yourself and your cause a great disservice by buying into the GW lie. It is going to end up discrediting everything else you believe and stand for.

    It seems the show’s not balanced–who’d be surprised by that?–but he says, if one’s able to read between the lines, the HRCs don’t come across well.

  9. I was at the Calgary/Edmonton game last night. We were treated during the game to Don’s favorite left wing kook & a special selection of pre-teenie disciples giving the “please feel guilty for breathing” ad courtesy of ENMAX.
    In a rink where everything’s either artificial or terribly exaggerated, seeing Chairman Suzuki & kids smiling out the little red book message was almost enough to make me give back (albeit a little pre-digested) a $9.75 Saddledome double sawdust & charcoal special.
    Don’t we pay enough at these events to be crap free except for what we willingly pay for? There’s no escaping the doctor’s fruity fly-trap.

  10. We love Don Cherry. Coaches Corner is the best thing about HNIC; it certainly isn’t the Leafs. You can trust Don to tell the truth, even if it is politically incorrect. He always mentions the troops and pays his respects to the fallen soldiers which him a rarity among tv celebrities. Don Cherry speaks to (as Fenris would call them)Vimy Ridge Canadians.

  12. Has anyone else–well, who hasn’t?–seen Dr. Fruitfly’s ads, telling everyone to unplug, turn off, etc.? (‘Wish he would.) They’re HILARIOUS!
    In one, the Wizard of Flaws pokes his head through a hole in a living room wall and tells the surprised young people to check for energy-leaking cracks, etc. in their house.
    Hmmmm. ‘Doesn’t look like the ads were done by candlelight. I wonder what kind of energy kleig lights consume?
    And I wonder how much the Canadian taxpayer is paying Dr. Bigfoot to tell the rest of us to unplug, while he lights up our lives, first-class all the way?

Was Suzuki recorded at this palatial, 30 room multi-million dollar mansion in Point Grey, his palatial, 20 room, 10 hectare Quadra Island mansion, or one of his other carbon farting gigantic mansions? And did he arrive there on his new private jet, or one of the older ones in the fleet? Oh the stupidity and hypocrisy of the Liberal left is hard to fathom, isn’t it?

  17. Very nice to see the media allowing coverage that does not put Suzuki on a high horse. Quite shocked the state owned politically correct CBC didn’t bleep the comments.
    Suzuki and his ilk are moonbats…plain and simple. I did much prefer the term global warming however using climate change covers all the basis…hot…cold…cool..warm..rainy…snowy……

So sad to see that people are so void of brains as to believe this f…ing liar Suzuki and waste billions on a hoax, as young couples and families cannot afford a house. 400.000 for a first time house, 75,000 for two vehicles, 1400 per month for utilities, ah yes priceless you thought. No believing assholes like Suzuker and Gore is left me speechless, as Mar 30 here in southern Alberta the temperature is 10 degrees farenheit. Thank you Don Cherry, we could ony wish there more MEN like you and me.

    Not sure what the message was to accompany the photo, it wasn’t that memorable, the photo was the story.

  25. I guess those less-than-sharp razors like Suzuki have trouble comprehending that light bulbs, used indoors during the heating season, do not increase electrical consumption. They produce heat. The heat is absosrbed into the building and simply supports the cost of heating. Or to put it more simply kilowatt = heat. Its that simple. Are you heating with electricity? Try this: Turn on all you lights all night and measure your electrical comsumption for the week. Do your normal thing the following week. You will find the electical consumption will be the same. If you are heating with other means such as oil you still are supplementing the heating cost.

  26. These useless gesture moments remind me of the Seinfeld episode where Kramer refuses to wear a ribbon for some awareness walk, and is beaten up by an angry mob.
    I was in a ski shop in Rockies as this moment was supposed to be happening, and someone walked in to declare, “Why are your lights still on?” The employees, mostly from Down Under where I believe this non-event started, all looked at him blankly.
    He was a teacher. I assume then the Suzuki tentacles into society start in the classroom.

  29. Stupid Tory tricks. Paving a backroad to Leader Sask that should be put back to grid. I’ve driven out there acouple of times. Who the hell is that for? Not a lot of population out there. Farmers tell me it’s the oil trucks destroying the road. More polution. Let the oil companies pay for it. It sure as hell ain’t for the farmers.
