  1. Awesome find. It blows my mind that someone could be sitting on this for so long, and not really know how important it could be.

  2. To think that Annie Sullivan was with Helen Keller for another 48 years after this picture was taken is a lovely thought. Their inspring story is a testament to the power of love and devotion. Thanks, Kate.

  3. Will the civilisation that supplants ours be capable of such things? I think not.

  4. Beautiful! Makes one stop and thank God for being able to see the sunset..hear a new grandbaby cry,and say out loud,’I love you’Thanks Kate, for a ‘stop and smell the roses’ moment

  5. Keller’s story is inspiring.
In this day and age, the first words she would have been taught would be: “Death to America!”

  6. Does it strike anyone else that it seems like Anne Sullivan’s head is too big for the body?

  7. If you look at the composition, the head of the grown up does not seem to match the body and it looks somewhat offside.
Or it maybe just the wine.

  8. It might be “la tête carrée” (square head) of the Irish.
I know a family of Irish descent, all of whom have huge heads, and from certain angles they look like those bobble-headed, dashboard figures.

  9. Thanks Kate – just catching up on your page so I didn’t comment sooner – I’m sending this off to my daughter who is employed by a school board near Toronto to teach deaf and/or blind children – Braille, signing in small or large squares, back of hand etc – We are extremely proud of her career path – she is on youtube with her class singing/signing the national anthem for a local Junior A hockey game last month
