  1. If a person like Obama ran for the Republicans I would be just as unsettled. Anyone who believes they can change the world and bring the kingdom of heaven on earth is dangerous. Human beings are flawed creatures and should not aspire to godlike goals. It always ends badly.

  2. It seems to me that this is a video about nothing very much except the use of rhetoric. The comparisons of Obama to Malcolm X – as played by Denzil Washington – are offensive enough, I suppose. But the larger theme, it seems to me, is about politics as an appeal to the aggrieved – “Vote for me and things will get better for you.”
    Sure it’s emotional pandering, but show me a politician on any side of any divide who doesn’t do it. I think many Conservatives are just pissed off at how well Barack Obama does it. Is he any empty suit? Most likely. But that hardly makes him unique and certainly it does not make him “dangerous.”

  3. I personally had a lot of problems with Obama until the nature of hope and change was explained to me (on a previous thread here) by the Cardstonkid (I edited this very slightly):

    And so I might add that it doesn’t really matter if Obama uses other peoples terms and phrases because it is orthogonal to his central argument concerning the very philosophical nature of changing hope and it’s application to the American people.

  4. Volik, (and sockpuppet LoserforLife), is it not apparent to you that you are the only ones racializing differences in the candidates here? Ethnic and race-based political demography is a valid phenomenon, however you want to internalize it, but demeaning the players based on race is what you’re doing, not the rest of the participants.
    How is it you see sufficient racial difference enough to comment pejoratively, while the rest of us try to discuss only the significance of that demography to the process? I’ll give you time to look up some the bigger words.

  8. If Obama becomes president he will try to inflict government help upon ‘his people’. However since so much of the black community in America is dysfunctional (70% families have no father) and whose only role models are badly behaved sports figures, drug soaked rappers and BMW driving crack dealers, it’s not not going have much affect.
    When the American Negro who has been waiting for the Obama Messiah for so long realizes that all the various forms of success a human being can achieve comes from withing one’s self and not from more government programs … they will be livid.
    If Obama becomes president, there will be a downturn is the affairs of Negroes in America because most unrest comes when ‘change’ (or the illusion of it) is coming, but not fast enough.
    Negroes are far more racist that white people. They never stop talking or whining about it. How often have you heard “The black man in America has no chance” yet the average black man in America now enjoys a higher standard of living than an average white Canadian.
    With affirmative action, United Negro college fund, and all the other organizations set up to ‘help’ blacks in America, why are they still whining? Because, just like our Canadian natives, once you apply special treatment and start the ‘enabling’ process, it drains any moral strength those folks may have had and makes you (the state) responsible for their happiness and prosperity.
    It is the impossible dream. Dreams are fantasies, reality is the only way to true happiness and success. And you have to do it yourself.
    Nearly all the Negroes in America are going to vote for the Obama miracle where they will all be getting cheques in the mail and have all their problems solved for them. Wait until they realize that it’s all bullshit and Obama is a young inexperienced phenomenon who will fail in office once the back room boys let him read the binder and he then learns that there some rules that can’t be ignored and some bigger fish to fry than giving black people ‘get our of jail free’ cards.
    I have no beef with black people or white people for than matter, I just believe that what’s going on in America is so racially charged that only bad shit can come of it.

  13. Socrates would have some ‘Questions’ for Obama. Why is this roller of vowels never asked any questions by anyone? His supporters remind me of the swooners for Elvis during the 1950s. Elvis did not run for President, however….and he proudly served in the Military. Elvis had talent,
    innocent substance, and a kindness that reflected his strong belief in God. Elvis loved his country and the American people.
    It seems to me that Obama is the polar opposite of Elvis and it is producing the same bizarre behavior as real talent (for show biz) did fifty years ago.

  15. I dunno…a group might feel disadvantaged cuz they BELIEVE that they are perpetual victims, nothing is their own fault and the goverment has to come to their rescue.
    That kind of Goverment paternalism has really worked out well for Canada’s First Nations people’s…hasn’t it?
    It is always much easier to be helpless, than to quit complaining, pick yourself up off the ground, take responsibility for your actions and fix your own problems.
    Unfortunately, that kind of thinking isn’t considered “progressive”.
    If Obama can’t present a solid centrist program before November (rather than just push all the leftist ideas he has voted for up to now in Congress), it will be a McCain landslide this fall.
    And that result won’t be due to racism, it will just be people rejecting another “empty suit”.

    You aren’t paying attention … Black men enjoy a high standard of living because they don’t support their families, they abandon them and let white tax-payers foot the bill.
    With lower taxation and higher wages in the USA it’s easy to see why they have more disposable income. It goes with having disposable families. You troll idiot.
    I have read the studies and surveys, and all cynicism aside what I state is true, Blacks in America, on average, have more than average Canadians at least in monetary terms. I don’t have those studies available since I am not a librarian, but if you search, you can find them

  27. If Obama were completely white instead of half white and passing for black, he would never have gotten the time of day in a run for the presidency. He has not run a phone booth.
    American blacks are racist in that they are voting for him purely on the color of his skin. If not, their votes should be split with Hillary who is also promising the same Democrat handouts. American lib whites meanwhile are overjoyed at being able to prove they are not racists by voting for a (completely unqualified) black man (and calling anyone who criticizes him a racist). That trumps any desire to prove their feminist credentials in voting for a completely unqualified woman to get her sleazy husband back in the White House.
    As for what’s behind the demagoguery, it would be better if it were an empty suit. Instead, it’s a prime marxist, the most left-wing voter in the Senate, married to a racist black woman with a chip on her shoulder as big as her imaginary victimhood (her hidden thesis is a big whine about how she felt marginalized as a black woman while she was getting a Harvard law degree…we should all be victimized like that).
    The first thing this marxist has promised and will do is recreate Vietnam in Iraq, snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and get any progressive Iraqi slaughtered. He is a menace dressed up in an attractive package by a fawning media.

I was ahead of the curve on partisan politics for its own sake. This ‘group think’… phrases with emotive pull but no meaning is new but I think I could handle it. Just haven’t had a classical Orator to try it on. Personally, I sound kind of nasally and New York / Toronto whiny … need a Barack to ‘raise your hands in the air’ and do the ‘hockey wave’ to ;D I wonder if he speaks in tounges 😉

  32. The Negro’s want to have representation like anyone else would. Who can blame them? The US is becoming too dysfunctional anyway, so why care now. Used to be a great place to visit but who wants to take the risk, unless you plan a vacation in some fly over state. Old America was a great place and a friend to everyone, New America is fast becoming something to avoid. As often quoted it’s a macrocosm of the world, possibly in the future we can take a pick of any state to visit like it’s a small world Disneyland….
    Mexifornia, Little Liberia, Little Saudi, Little Pakistan………..Sounds like a wonderful dream of global unification of peace and brotherhood anyway, and we do like Disneyland so why fight it.
