How capitalists are saving the planet

John Robson does a fine job reminding us that real environmental progress comes from capitalists:

It’s opera. My wife is listening to opera while jogging. The heroine will, one assumes, come to a tragic end. But the batteries won’t, because she’s using a digital player. On which, I trust, I can record the sound of environmentalists applauding the technological advances capitalism brings.

We’ll wait for the applause, but somehow I’m just not hearing it.

No Phillip, DEMOCRACY is the enabler of environmentalism. Capitalism is not the same as democracy. Until the mid 60’s there was virtually no difference between East and West when it came to lack of environmental concern. It was the environmental movement in the West which forced governments to act and pass legislation FORCING manufacturers to meet environmental standards.
How typically hypocritical of the right wing to complain about the environmental movement then try to take credit for their accomplishments.

I have a life, unlike some of you losers sitting in your parent’s basement all day and reading every last word on SDA. So go laugh it up.

I’m surprised that you would be so supportive of corporations who have prevented the marketing of the electric car.

  4. Touche. It is Corporate nature to go after excessive advantage and excessive profit.
