Not really knowing much about the film industry, it is quite interesting to see that kind of production. It looks quite impressive to me. Having been to Normandy to see the beaches, you realize that in order to make a film about D-Day you’d have to add quite a lot of background stuff to make it look realistic.
It is impressive….now imagine the CBC doing a Dieppe or Juno beach movie…..they would have hired THOUSANDS…..
This was a very cool demonstration of what can be done when you merge creativity and technology.
It is thought that one defensive nest overlooking Omaha beach accounted for a high percentge of the American casualties. One German soldier , with an MG-42 belt fed machingun and two mauser carbines, alone fired over 12,000 rounds of ammunition.

I just love technology when it puts power into the hands of the average person. What once took millions of dollars and equipment and logistical backing is done now in someone’s garage. Imagine the chill running down the backs of the actors unions when they see this!
I wonder what BIG HOLLYWOOD studios think about this? Does it threaten their very existence? These upstarts don’t even need the distribution networks like the big studios have anymore. Very exciting times these are.
I think the asteroid has finally hit earth that will wipe out the traditional media elite with its handlers and gatekeepers. RIAA anyone?
Very cool, Kathy. I’ll have to see It Happened Here, as well.
Kursk, I believe I saw a show about that on the US History Channel. They actually interviewed the guy. I forget the numbers he is thought to have killed, but it was astronomically high for one person.
As an aside, at about the 1:50 mark, aren’t they using M-1’s in the German bunker rather than German rifles?
Another “basement movie production”. “405 The Movie”
This has been out for a few years, but it’s still incredible (and hilarious!):

Also, the CBC version of Juno would have the Canadians lose, as a result of callous planning by some American who has a religious beef with the mis-understood Nazis.
“This video is no longer available.”

But it still plays in this Comments’ section version!

I see Richard Hammond (aka The Hamster) was credited. When I saw the heading “Re-creating the D-Day invasion with only 3 actors” I thought they were referring to this recent episode of Top Gear. This is part 3 of the three part program – the first two parts are also on YouTube.

Better than my videos.
cool,
The CBC Juno Beach production would of course have featured Jack Layton and Stephie Dion harping about how Canadian troops should have be pulled out long before the threat was eliminated.
While this was a great video nothing beats this recreation of the Battle of Pearl Harbour.

I have had on my list of things to do for quite a while now, being an extra in a movie.
I see I’d better get a move on while the industry still has a use for them.
BTW,have been enjoying the ‘Top Gear’ episodes fro the BBC on Utube for some time now.
Phenomenal. I’d be interested to see the final result. Wait ’til Palliwood gets their hands on this stuff. The MSM will be used like sock puppets.
