Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

on a similar note of inconvenient truths, will someone please tell the MSM that Clinton/Gore was the presidency when the US refused to sign Kyoto. Gore as VP was President of the Senate that vote 100% to not ratify Kyoto.
“I am going to speak an inconvenient truth,” Gore told an audience of several hundred, playing on the name of his Oscar-winning documentary.
And in low tones he added: “My own country the United States is principally responsible for obstructing progress in Bali,” spurring rapturous applause and cheers.
You know, I am sitting on a domain name that is just _begging_ to be put to work for this sort of stuff.

I’d blog there, but all I would end up doing is linking back to Kate’s Sound of Settled Science posts.
Love the quote at the end of the link:
Seems lately that the Gore gang can fool most of the people most of the time…
What happened to common sense? price of gas for example. GM has buses running in 56 cities that use half as much diesel. German TDI tech uses half the fuel. Gas shortage?
Toyota alone has sold more than one million Prius hybrids, not to mention other models like Corolla and other brand names as well.
14 photos and short captions of the newest green energy tech.
C/Net gives a quick and easy update to new energy in just 14 photos
[1] Nanao Solar Berlin, San Hose Ca. Thin film , *Low Cost solar sheets. Just added 100 Million$

These advances will do more to clean our air and slow any non-existent warming trend than all the hot air in Bali. = TG

This has been known for a while. However, now that’s it’s been put under the microscope, maybe we can at least push this “consensus” nonsense aside once and for all, and admit there are serious problems with the models which allegedly prove AGW.
Regards, BRK
“However, now that’s it’s been put under the microscope, maybe we can at least push this “consensus” nonsense aside once and for all, and admit there are serious problems with the models which allegedly prove AGW.”
ROTFLMAO…thanks for the chuckle Brian. This is a enviromental Kult. They don’t care about the truth.Faith is their beacon, and Gore/Fruitfly their Lords. As long as they keep stealing money only from leftards/socialists/eco-freaks,leg backcombing bikernstock femnazis, etc,I have no problem. But when they want me and my family back in the cave, then they are barking up the wrong tree.
Kyoto MMGHG AGW hysteria is thouroughly debunked….even the original model makers are back peddling…all this warming hysteria was premised on faulty data sets, inaccurate instrumentation, and modeling based on both…in short they made a mistake,…
… things are not as bad as we thought…actually this is just a natural warming cycle which can have good effects on productivity…..nothing to see here,…Moe, Al, Dave… move along to the next Hegelian reaction-solution to a contrived “global” problem…the GHG con is a dead game,… time for the hucksters to work on the next “global” con job to steal western wealth and productivity.
For some unknown reason this “cause” will not go away. Just about every thing I hear today of see has the green, carbon print, global warming, natural diaster mention. It is actually getting quite pathetic and it is at a point where not agreeing with the dogma is as bad as kicking your dog. The energy saving NFL game coverage that NBC tried was a good example. The fact that they used up oodles more energy flying their reporters and crew to the opposite ends of the earth for live coverage seemed to be lost on them, even if the talking heads had to sit in the dark.
What was that quote? Stuck on stupid. It certainly fits here.
There is a mathematical term for when models are consistently higher or lower than the real data for the subject they are expected to represent…
It’s called a BIAS.
This is not to be confused with where models are randomly higher and lower than the real data.
That is called random ERROR.
I expect politicians and snakeoil salesmen to ignore the facts and prey upon the general public to further their agendas. That is the nature of their business.
I do not expect scientists and engineers to ignore the facts and prey upon the general public. That should not be in their nature.
Some component of the present global warming may or may not be caused by man; the actual facts are yet to be determined.
At this point in time I would be willing to be right up front in saying the following. Any scientist or engineer who is ***well-read*** on ***both*** sides of the issue, yet who continues to claim that there is a ***CONSENSUS*** among their peers that the present global warming is caused by man is either completely biased and closed minded, or is a blatant liar. There are few other options to explain their use of the term consensus.
I have a computer model and when I conquered the world playing CIV “Civilization” well you are all behind on your back taxes.
PAY up while you can!
The consensus is you owe me,
Texas Canuck: “For some unknown reason this “cause” will not go away.”
Some reasons are
1.It’s an excuse for socialists to maintain their belief that Western civilization is evil.
2. It’s an opportunity for some to make fast bucks.
3. It’s a grandstand for egos.
4. It provides money in the form of research grants and bureaucratic vacations for government and academic employees – all those “deparetment of Environment” and UN hangers-on, doing nothing very importantly.
Yoop, there is a consensus amongst those who are profiting from it. Not surprising really. Also, any people keep their mouths shut to avoid losing their jobs and livelihood.
You see, we are living in a new period of Lysenkoism.
another goracle lie, Bobby never passed a puck in his life.

if your going to make light of Canaduh, at least get it right.
Can someone please the graph for me? I clicked through to the graphic and I’m even more confused.
TIA.
I’ll try to pelase the graph … nice graph, goody graphy. There there graph.
Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Did you mean explain?
The red lines are a series of predictions made by climate models of the temperature of hte atmosphere at different level, see along the top. The green/blue lines are measured temperature, by different means. Note the difference in the deghreescentigrade/d10 years change in the two sets of lines.
Measured: from less than zero to 0.1 C/decade; predicted by computer model 0.2-0.4 C/decade. Note even close.
Here is a graph that ALL the population can understand showing one obvious place to make a difference. =

How does one play nice at Bali and not shut down Alberta?
Extraction Wastes enough Clean natural gas to heat 3.7 Million homes Daily!
** Bearing in mind that simple truth, how much extractable oil is in the Alberta oil sands? That is one area where industry and environmentalists agree. It’s a lot — about 175 billion barrels. That is second only to the oil reserves of Saudi Arabia.
Beyond this massive storehouse of ancient carbon, the additional problem with the oil sands is that is takes a colossal amount of energy to extract and refine the extremely low-grade tar deposits that
cover more than 20 per cent of the Albert landmass.
The oil sands are mostly rock and sand — only 12 per cent is bitumen. This tar must then be upgraded at enormous energy cost to synthetic crude.
That process consumes about 700 million cubic feet of natural gas each day — enough to heat over 3.7 million Canadian homes. That massive waste of finite and comparatively clean natural gas is expected to triple in the next eight years.
Of course there is no point in creating synthetic crude oil unless you are eventually going to burn it — that is what the oil business is all about. These * downstream * emissions are four times as great as the carbon released during oil sands production.

Bali is such a difficult dance. = TG
Just listening to the news on CTV. Some Hag in Bali is calling Canada a minion of the Bush administration.
If that isn’t reason enough for Baird to have got on stage, pulled the 3×5 cards from his pocket, cleared his throat, and said Go f@@k yourselves ya self serving bunch of wankers, Then exited stage Right.
Natural gas is used in the tar sands process. Some of the NG is used for heating.
But a lot of the NG is simply mix-in making a less viscous oil. This portion of the NG contributes to the calorific value of tar sands oil — it is not wasted.
Bet ya never heard that on TV 🙂
Terrence Corcoran is one of a few Canadian Journalists who cuts through the spin . Was bang-on 10 years ago. Still is.
Big Beach Party; ‘Bali Dancers’ pumped up by the UN’s ‘Ban Ka-boom’ !!
one has to take thermodynamics to realise the low level heat waste is almost impossible to recover.
as all the psuedoscientists , genetics experts and politicians say – oh just inject the C02 underground. can one even imagine the kind of horsepower to take a mole of CO2 from ounces over atmospheric to the miscible pressure of 900 psi. well I can .
build your house over top of a tarsands plant if you think its so easy.
could have an whole bladerunner type atmosphere about it , including the poison gas flare.
izzy money , izzy solutions, fair share, beat your swords into plowshares, beat your head into brain shares.
I have seen dozens of graphs like that one, in atomic and molecular physics. It is the signature of a theory which is not very good, but not entirely wrong – perhaps useful as a guide to further work.
“…Why does the media keep referring to Gore as the former US president? Not the first time I’ve seen this done.
“In addition, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, a body that won the Nobel Peace Prize along with former U.S. president Al Gore, slammed Canada’s position…”

Who is messing with the sattlite data some dirty scum is fudging all this and faking the data to get what they and their dirty evil greens want IM GOING TO GET VIOLENT WITH THESE CHEATERS IM GOING TO START PICKING THEIR EYES OUT SQUAWK SQUAWK
But a lot of the NG is simply mix-in making a less viscous oil.
Actually, that’s what’s called ‘diluent’ or ‘dilbit’ in tech-speak. Think kerosene-like. It’s mixed into the pipeline to thin out the stock for pumping and then piped-back for re-use. I ought to know (or maybe the evil oil companies have been lying to me and they REALLY use it to light puppy faces on fire while they bet on which one will die first).
Calling Big Al, Big Al…
Little off on the model, wouldn’t ya say?
The scientists over at http://www.realclimate.org have dealt with this issue over and over again. For a specific critique see http://www.realclimate.org/index.php/archives/2007/12/tropical-troposphere-trends/
Christy was actually the scientist who identified the problems with the satellite data, why he’s now using the data himself
is a bit of a mystery. The basic problem with this paper is that old data was used (RAOBCORE v1.2 vs v1.4) and that the
error in the models and the data aren’t reported. If proper statistical methods were used, there would be no significant
difference between the models and the data.
Models aren’t perfect, but they are our best means to predict the consequences of increasing GHG in the atmosphere. Even if
the models do have problems, this doesn’t change the fact that ice core records link increasing GHG to global warming, and
that the increase in GHG in the atmosphere can be directly attributed to human activities. It’s time to wake and start doing
something about the problem instead of repeating the claims of scientists who represent a small minority.
MESSAGE TO AL GORE TO STOP GLOBAL WARMING SHUT YOUR FRIGGEN PIEHOLE YOU RICH WEALTHY DEMACRATIC SKUNK

“… ice core records link increasing GHG to global warming …” in a similar fashion to Nostradomus. And the scientific scrupulosity at RealClimate is exceeded only by that of the IPCC. Keep trying.
