(Update: I wish I’d thought of some of those one-liners posted in the comments, when I titled this last night. “Shut up and sing” is a trifle meanspirited, considering that, unlike many of her equally challenged peers in show business, she at least has the good sense not to talk politics.)

You know I have two masters degrees and an undergrad in technical subjects, and a lot of reading in history “and stuff”, and I’m sitting here holding my head thinking:
“WHERE did I first take that first wrong turn towards logic, scholarship and erudition? That “bimbo” probably earns an order of magnitude more than my lifetime earnings…in one TV episode.”
I really must speak with my parents.
Kelli may not be the sharpest tool in the shed but she seems like a good kid.
Now, Joy Behard from the View is dumber than a bag of hammers, rails forever on politics, AGW etc and is meaner than a junk yard dog.
If anyone deserves our scorn its Behard not this kid.
I guess Kellie does have redeeming qualities. According to Wikipedia:
“Pickler was in a relationship with Nashville Predators player Jordin Tootoo”
She has good choice in sports at least.
Canadian Infidel: According to her bio, her father is alive (but not well):
“Pickler’s father, whom she describes as an alcoholic and drug addict, recently served a three-year, nine-month prison sentence at Florida State Prison for aggravated assault and battery stemming from a 2003 stabbing incident.[19] He was released on May 6, 2006, a week after her elimination from Idol.”
On the bright side, Nathan is probably even more of a hero to his little friends. On the down side, that hug probably kickstarted him into puberty and he’ll be too big and bearded for the show before long. Maybe he can claim workers’ comp for the career-limiting injury.
Well, since I are one of the people being represented by this li’l ol’ gal, and since I are one of SDA’s token Southerners, I guess I should say somethin’.
As others have posted, this gal might not be the sharpest pencil in the drawer, but she is definitely putting on an act.
We do have our mentally challenged groups down here, but if she had simply not known Budapest was in Hungary, I could have bought the bit. I had to think about it myself for a second. Budapest… Budapest… oh yeah, Hungary. (Zsa Zsa Gabor is from Hungary and is dumber than this actress.)
If asked to name some European countries and she could only come up with France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Switzerland… if she thought Britain was a part of Europe … then I could buy the bit.
But you’re really not going to find many people down here as illiterate as she’s pretending to be. You noticed she bounced off one of his remarks by mentioning Turkey when previously she said she wasn’t sure France was a country.
Another interesting thing is that our elite academicians get very frustrated with people such as this woman because in the US it is still possible for someone to become well-to-do by opening a number of gasoline stations. Knowledge to run the business is all that is required, and as a consequence people who spend decades acquiring specialized knowledge get frustrated when comparative illiterate have more money and social prominence than they do.
It’s one of the reasons that they sulk, and vent their spleen, and assume various dramatic postures against America and the West. They feel that someone who can conjugate verbs in Esperanto should certainly make a million a year and consult with the President.
Another interesting thing is that the specifically Southern kind of ambience that this woman displays is frequently characterized by the MSM in sort of the same way Canadian elites characterize the people of Alberta as a bunch of rednecks. It doesn’t work as well in the US, of course, partly because the electoral college and our senators keep us from having pure representation by population. As a consequence, we just laugh at them and go on about our business.
Lastly, I will say that in the South and the Southwest we often intentionally satirize this view that the Northeast has of us by laying all the Southern mannerisms and accents on really thick.
I do it myself, particularly when I’m talking with one of the elites. “Well shucks, ya know that ol’ boy Immanuel Kant talkin’ ’bout that ol’ categorical imperative really kinda makes ya think about that ol’ boy Bishop Berkeley and all that eye-dealism, doncha think…?” Then we go on back behind the Shell station, have a chew, pass around a jug, and laugh at the Yankees…
Pretty, talented, rich and adored by millions………. what does she need to worry about or care what others think? I doubt she’ll ever be lonely or sad, so I suppose any criticisms are moot! Ignorance is bliss……………
WL Mack.. It’s simple math that all horny teenage boys understand – you hone in towards where you think your best chances of playing hide the weenie are. Later on, *hopefully this changes somewhat.
Greg – fwiw, I love southern gal’s, and should I find myself single again one day I’m going to make a concerted effort to find myself one.
Re KP – of course a lot of this is an act, that’s partly what got her so far on AI, but she does have a good set of pipes and a very appealing stage presence.

Stuck on stupid
Watching this little girl just confirms what I’ve always suspected: most Americans don’t have a friggin’ clue what’s going on a block over.
