Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

I was disappointed once I did some more reading and realized as a damn Yankee, I can’t do my bit to endanger the globe. I’m just getting set to re-stock my fridge tonight.
Kate, if you want to help save the environment by heading south of the 49th before pulling a cold one out of the fridge, you’re welcome here. You’re definitely one of the “good guys.”
Morgan, around here we keep beer in the fridge to keep it from freezing.
We need very little advice about how to deal with our suds from someone from a country that drinks it warm.
I wonder if a person could set up an environmental project by replacing “beer fridges” with new, more efficient models. Think of the carbon credits that could be sold by doing that.
Thats a joke right?…..right?…….guys?………..
They’ll have to pry my beer fridge out of my cold, dead hands.
My beer fridge keeps me drinking beer at home rather than taking my SUV around town and drinking at other places. Think of the savings there. And no drinking and driving too boot.
Besides no matter what beer you drink or where, it’s refrigerated. These Eco freaks just won’t give up. I think they could use a beer fridge themselves to chill out and relax.
The end of the world as we know it doesn’t need to be a futile stress filled event for god’s sake!
Decisions, decisions, decisions….
Beer? Or Bangladesh. Bangladesh? Or beer.
Having worked there for a short time, I came away with the impression that the only good thing about that country is that it floods twice a year, almost like flushing the loo…
I’ll go with the beer…
It’s never the flatulence that comes with fizzy MolBat products, is it?
And you thought the Glotards were not a serious threat? Lets agree to cut down the northern forests or maybe launch a million sulphur rockets into the upper atmosphere instead.
It’s not enough they make the beer a sin so they can tax it now the fridge is a sin too.
Huh… if I drink Bangladesh, I’ll likely get every gastro-intestinal disease known to humanity. If I drink beer, I’ll get that lovin’ feeling. My doctor would probably come down on the side of beer – so I guess the fridge stays. Sorry, Bangladesh.
The AGW Druids are wading into an alligator-infested swamp here…don’t FXXK with a Hoser’s beer fridge or the remote.
You can have my beer fridge when you pry it from my dead cold hand!
Think of all the energy saved by not creating a new beer fridge. My beer fridge is part of the recycling program.
File this one in the law of unintended consequences file . When AGW finally kicks in , and Canada’s median temperature finally keeps our beer cold , but unfrozen , then , and only then , can they have my beer fridge . Sorry in advance Bangladesh , we’ll send foreign aid .
Cheers ,
Canadian beer drinkers
Beer trumps moonbat….. every time.
“People need to understand the impact of their lifestyles,” British environmental consultant Joanna Yarrow tells New Scientist magazine. “Clearly the environmental implications of having a frivolous luxury like a beer fridge are not hitting home. This research helps inform people — let’s hope it has an effect.”
Another moonbat heard from. One moonbat’s frivolous luxury is a hard working Canadian’s well deserved weekend relaxation. Do you think that all the beer fridges in Canada contribute as much CO2 emissions as the many private jets going to Bali for their AGWMoonbatfest?
Surely the regular guy and gal will soon understand what this is about: It’s just another attempt by the former hippies and future bums to rail at those with More. More can be anything that you don’t have or is beneath you yet you can’t afford. In this case, More is a beer fridge.
More has also been bigger vehicles, bigger houses, air travel, recreational vehicles, and industry.
It’s so obvious. This isn’t about the environment any more than it is about beer fridges. It’s bohemian hippie socialists teaming up with big business wolves to levy sin taxes and make decrees about what everybody should have, do, and be.
The gig is almost up.
Off topic
I protest the word “CANADIAN” being attached to one of the worst beers spewed on this part of the planet.
I guess I can carry on with, beer induced, flatulance used for blue angles:-))))
it’s the fridge I need to kill!!!!
Hi Kate; good to see you keeping up with the important news. I really don’t know why the canadian news channels were afraid of Fox news. They are in the league of brightness with CBC and the rest of unlite light bulbs. They have all these study’s but not one makes a bit of difference. If these people would put thier studies in how to get more out of the existing effiecent energy sources, I would support it. But when you a sucking off the Globle Greenhouse Gas scare you can not expect any substance from these studies. What really dissapoints me is Edmonton was rated 21rst for Universities to attend.
“University of Alberta researcher Denise Young, who led the study, suggests that provincial authorities hold beer-fridge buy-backs or round-ups to eliminate the threat — methods that Americans use to get guns off the streets”. Then you see see this on your SDA site. I’m glad that we give our taxs for a portion of these studies. “Idiots” The people are right. Come and try to get the family beer fridge. I’ve still got my gun. Merle Underwood
“The gig is almost up.”
I think that’s a certainty Yukon
When they attack a harmelss hoser’s sudz they are really reaching here… and when they reach into a hoser’s beer fridge unainvited they will get the horn where they don’t want it.
First they came for 50% of our money
Then they came for our guns
Then they came for our big comfy cars
Now they are coming for our beer
It’s time to kill them!
Canadians Beware:
750,000,000 barrels of beer
consumed in the U.S.A during the past 2 months!
Drink up, boys!
They’re gaining on us.
@Yukon Gold and others:
After watching Inherit the Wind, I offer this hypothesis for pondering’s sake:
Some time ago, the Holy-Roller ‘Puritan’ types went secular-humanist because they were driven out from their previous haunts largely through laughter.
That’s why the libertarian will always be with you. 😉
I’m doing my part. I’m converting my beer fridge into a banana daiquiri fridge. Can you send me the pelts of all the polar bears I saved from drowning? … and a few bananas (and rum) … and some of those little umbrellas …
BTW: Need a little cash for a haircut also … I will issue carbon credits.
Empathy people!!! Do you think it’s easy moving uphill 5mm?
Hey, people, aren’t we missing the obvious here?
We need more nuclear power generation — now — before the beer gets warm.
I like the part about poutine and doughnuts too. LOL
I totally dissagree with the global warming thing and I will respect a persons point of view I dissagree with but, the poutine and doughnut remark lost all credibility and respect I may have had for the writer.
Snap poll I prefer Labbat Lite or ol standby, Green Pilsner. Go Riders!
And it’s even better from the fridge in the garage that’s set cold enough to freeze the milk and carrots too
It’s colder outside right now then any beer fridge,(well, here in Edmonchuck anyways),and they say my fridge is contributing to AGW???? Sorry guys, the beer is a nice cool 40F,and my steaks are in the window below freezing.Wheres my carbon credits?
Well, I did my part tonight. Put the beer OUTSIDE where it is -19C, and just before the dam stuff froze, I put it in the fridge.
So, I used natural energy to cool my beer. Not a polar bear died while the beer was cooling! I know, because the dam polar bears are outside right now waiting for me to go get the cold beer.
This global warming stuff ain’t so hard for us canajuns….
AL GORE IS IN THE ARCTIC CIRCLE AND HIS HOT AIR WILL MELT THE ICE CAPS I HOPE MY LITTLE LONG DISTANT BROTHERS THE ARCTIC TERNS THROW HIM OUT
I’m more worried about my bar fridge collapsing in on itself and creating a black hole from the weight of all the stickers on it than I am about it contributing to global warming.
I’ve installed a beer fridge in my SUV.
Lucky for Denise, Chateau D’Armpit ’07 doesn’t require refrigeration.
The problem is not my beer fridge…
The problem is that beer freezes solid like everything else(heavy crude oil) if left outside, due to the recently extreme cold climate in northern Alberta.
those dirty eastern ba$tards.

vote for Dion and you can make it.
When they attack a harmelss hoser’s sudz they are really reaching here
“Forgive them for they know not what they do”. This could be WAR! Or not, maybe…depending.
*Canuck gets another beer and ponders*
There is an old joke that says that the English drink warm beer because they have Luca refrigerators.
For those not old enough to appreciate it,early 60’s English cars (i.e.MG’s) has Lucas electrics and were notorious for electrical failures.
Horny Toad
New Scientist prides itself as being the “People’s Science” magazine.
If, in any way, they can politicise a story then they will, and always in a way that would make Stalin proud.
Somehow the person (Denise Young) that did the study is still called a researcher. Talk about a frivolous luxury…shouldn’t they be researching something else of importance other than what I put my beer in?
Besides, she’s a damn economist – I thought they were banned from any discussion of AGW!!
@Frenchie77:
Everyone is welcome, provided that they sing from the approved hymnal and vo-o-o-o-te the right way.
Boss Tweed would be awestruck.
Because this attack on my beer really bothers me, here is the enviro-gurus email:
joanna@beyondgreen.co.uk
and her bio from the consulting companys that actually gets paid for this stuff is found on their website.
http://www.beyondgreen.co.uk/
Unfortunately, she is not alone!
Looks to me that she could make a small personal sacrifice and NOT publish her next book then that would allow all us canadians to keep our beer fridges (she could consider it as her carbon offset for us dumb canadians).
In fact, if the entire firm would just shut down than that could also act as an offset for our ski-doos.
C’mon, please do it for the whales!!
You know, I do not have a fridge in the garage, and I have a nice garage. I’m getting tired of storing my beer in the damn basement cold storage summer and winter. Can someone recommend a good beer storage device?
In the summer, keeping a few bottles of suds in a pail of water with compressed air bubbling through will maintain just the right drinking temperature, the cost of running the compressor….
”University of Alberta researcher Denise Young, who led the study, suggests that provincial authorities hold beer-fridge buy-backs or round-ups to eliminate the threat — methods that Americans use to get guns off the streets”.
Her research must have included the NRA Staff papers (yes i be member reader). Real money to be made in Gun Buy back programs. How much does Denise hope to make per BTU.
The Kilowatt “BANK” must be full enough to pay for this bogus AC power saving research.
Have you ever wondered why it’s more efficient to power Las Vegas lights 24/7
