  8. the alexa traffic site allows for some interesting comparisons. Type in SDA vs Globe and Mail and it shows SDA with more reach, and about as much as the National Post (although there appears to be a spike after their redesign.
    Is there a dynamic at work that a non tech geek like me is missing, or does SDA rank up there with two well financed corporate blogs?

  10. Reading the top 10 jerks list at Kinsellas site that Kate linked to (but was denied the coveted #1 position) it would appear that Warren dislikes certain people because he is so morally superior to them. So lets trot out a little chestnut from Warrens site from June 21 2006:
    · Conservatives’ ideology is their ideology: tax cuts, law and order, and so on. That kind of stuff. The Liberal ideology is, to be blunt, winning. Grits like to win, and they’ve had a lot of practice at winning. They’re good at it. Right now, they’re miserable, sure, because they LOST. But there’s no better motivator for a Liberal than a loss. It gets them to where they most like to be: with their foot on a Conservative or New Democrat windpipe, watching them gasp for air until Election Day. That’s when Liberals are happiest. It makes them smile.
    So Warrens ideolgy is just to win – whatever it takes. Where is the moral superiority in that?

  11. If he’s so good at the ‘win’, why does his band suck so much? They might win “the crappiest ripp off music award”, but that’s about it. I do feel kinda’ sorry for him though. He’s almost 50 years old and the best he can manage on an electric bass guitar is thumping single notes. As Nelson would say, “Ha Ha!”

  14. If you look at traffic stats for both SDA and Warren’s site over 1 and/or 3 years, it would appear that both places are on downward trends. Perhaps political blogs peak around election seasons?

  15. Actually my last assertion is wrong, at least with regards to provincial elections having an impact. The figures show that SDA is down 15% in terms of reach and slipped over 21,000 spots in traffic rank. That’s over the last three months for which there was an election going in Saskatchewan.

    As for Warren Kinsella, if he had a sense of humour he might be great. Wish I had known his father.

  19. Yeah, kicking ass while compiling lists of people he doesn’t like. I did that once, but i was in grade three at the time. He would likely find it enormously satisfying to render crude drawings of these people, complete with stink lines.
    Making that list is a sign of honour.
    And, as vonrock points out, that punk bass playing – a place to start, but pathetic at fifty.

  24. What is great about this is that this ludicrous punk-rock dabbling, dead political horse, Wornout Kinsella is bothered enough by those he hates to put up that post. That means his stomach is burning. That means he feels like a loser. But then he should have figured that out a long time ago.
    Good work Kate. It is interesting that this very day Dennis Miller stated that GW Bush laughs off the obvious contempt Al Gore and others have shown him over the years of his presidency. It doesn’t bother him a bit. He just laughs at them and in about 14 months he’ll ride off into the sunset knowing that he’s won pretty much all the important battles he was presented with. Not the least of which is Iraq as it’s going now.
    If this latest Israel/Palamino thing works out the Dems will have to wear diapers because they won’t have a political pot to pee in left to fight the election with.
    Harper is not bothered by his detractors either. That is the sign of a winner. A confident person who knows he is armed with what is right and true. In the end it is always the results that matter and pragmatism is the best route to that.
    We have had ‘process’ as the reason to be for far too long and now the results are starting to come in under the stewardship of the likes of Harper, Bush, McMillan.

    That is equal to closing your eyes and putting your hands over your ears and shouting lalalala I can’t hear you lalalalal I can’t hear you.
    He appropriately also supports that other child (It was me, it was me) Dion. I can see them together in the sand box with their dinky toy collection drawing a map of Saskatchewan in the sand and blowing it up with little firecrackers.

    Canada desperately needs more of these media gas bags deflated ….Kinsella was an apt target…a totally empty suit who bacme legendary only in his own mind and the small cadre of GTA media elites.

The bottom line is that desite attempting to belittle everyone else, Kinsella knows he can never rise above the moral equivalence of a Mob lawyer, simply because that’s the role he played in Chretien’s government. When you work for thieves, and you know they’re thieves, just because you’re not a thief yourself is of little value. You’re just as low as them.

    Let’s not forget that in that election he tried to manipulate the Jewish community and others by slandering the Reform candidate as having white supremacist ties. Now, Reform MP Ted White was a bit of an odd duck, and I always thought that he resembled a wood elf from D&D, but he was a truly nice guy. He would always show up at community events – I was with the local Army Reserve unit at the time and he showed up at almost every event he was invited to, and when he couldn’t he would send personal regrets.
    He even voted with the Liberals on firearms legislation because it was the wish of his urban constituency (not that I agreed with the vote, but I do like the idea of an MP trying to represent the wishes of the voters). Since the measure was ordanined to pass, it didn’t really matter, but I respect his choice to vote the voters’ beliefs rather than his own.
    Unfortunately, that riding (my home town) is now in Liberal hands due to Ted’s no longer running and the Con’s decision to run a totally unsuitable candidate against a popular former Lib mayor. Demographic changes due to massive immigration into the riding during the late 1990s probably also played a role, but this is still a riding that can be reclaimed for the Torys, and they should put some effort into finding a good candidate.

    It’s sure a bitch being a Liberal with a real nincompoop in charge of the leaky ship these days.
    It has to be bad when so many have bailed out, including some experienced back-room people.
    What we’ve been witnessing in the HOC from the Liberals is not a pretty sight. Nothing there of substance so they’re down to the game of playing Gotcha politics.
    The Schreiber/Mulroney affair is their latest attempt at aimless mudslinging, even at the Conservatives of Stephen Harper who had nothing to do with it whatever.
