Evidence presented at the Al Dura trial in France indicates that Western journalists are passing along footage produced in the Mideast conflict they are well aware is staged;
So when asked why he had inserted unconnected footage of an Israeli soldier firing a rifle into the Al Dura sequence in order to make it look like the Israelis had killed the boy in cold blood, an official of PA TV responded:
“These are forms of artistic expression, but all of this serves to convey the truth… We never forget our higher journalistic principles to which we are committed of relating the truth and nothing but the truth.”
(That was weird. The name “Christina Lawand” just popped into my head….)
We may have stumbled here onto the very nature of public secrets and the value of a good reputation: everyone can cheat so long as no one is caught. It’s okay for the insiders to know, but the effectiveness of the (mis)information depends on the public not knowing. As Daniel Leconte reproached Eppelbaum: “the media may know [about this staging], but the public doesn’t.” Indeed, the public must not know. CNN advertises itself as “The Most Trusted Name in News,” not because it struggles against the influences, like access journalism, that destroy trustworthiness, but because it knows how important trust is to their audience public consumers of news. Thus, even if Western journalists use staged footage regularly, they cannot admit it. And, if denial doesn’t work, then, apparently, the next move is to say, “it’s nothing; everyone does it.”
SDA regulars won’t find anything new in this, but it’s still worth reading the whole thing.

Remember the Lawand incident very well. The fact she’s working anywhere in our media is a disgrace.
It’s become about par for the course with the media, but when it’s so blatantly obvious as it was with Lawand, there should be no way she should have a job in journalism. If you can’t believe anything she reports she’s redundant.

Heck, if Michael Moore can use deception and outright lies and get an Oscar and Big Al Bore use extreme exageration, falsehoods – call it what you want and win an Oscar – then why shouldn’t everybody do it?
I suppose ny now we can see the common thread between advicacy/partisan journaism and politics ot at least manipulative politicians/politics.
Both become so adept at presenting misinformation to capitalize on it that lying (Let’s call misinforming what it is) becomes first nature…it becomes an autonomic function…when “misinforming” gets that chronic the disinformation practitioner often forgets what is real and what is lies himself and he will trip up when put under close scrutiny and accounting…like in a court room.
Misinformation only works on the lowest common denominator thus the misinfo propagandist and politician often under estimate the gullibility or cognition of their intended targets.

Not suggesting she would have gotten deep-sixed from CBC over the Harper piece. Maybe instead she was promoted, CBC being what it is.

Pay close attention folks, to how MSM rides this Karlheinz Schreiber/ Mulroney pony for the next few months.
Larry Zolf made the point many months ago, that media can break Harper and now is a good chance for some payback from some of those large egos in the journo ranks.
With Taliban Jack and Stephane in high dudgeon over new allegations by Schreiber this certainly gives MSM fodder and Harper is now in their (MSM’s) crosshairs as much as Mulroney, if not more.
The independent examiner to give advice on a course of action is a good start.
Perhaps Harper has his moves planned far enough ahead to draw in the ‘money stuffed brown envelopes’ of the former administration as well as Karlheinz’s afidavit.

This suggests that if/when the CBC is forced to issue it’s regrets on-air, they’re going to make sure someone regrets it even more than they do. That someone appears to be the CIHI.
From experience, I would like to note this.
My son went to U of C, subjects roughly rounded to be political science. Thank goodness he did not go socialist, though liberals are on the very edge of that.
As it is, father being wiser argued well known fact that liberals are so corrupt it looks like normal to them, sort of like that book ‘Been down so long, looks like up to me’.
Son being student argued that there is nothing particularly wrong with it because everybody does it. He learned that at school, not from his father.
Now you know, where today’s ‘journalists’ get the idea that to lie, reconstruct answers to suit and such. Truth is relative to them so there is nothing that terrible about it. As somebody mentioned earlier, it is more of metajournalism than actual reporting.
Our MSM people know very well they are lying and see no problem because they have an agenda to implement. The bulk of them are no different than the communist propagandists or the Nazi propagandists.
As far as I am concerned they long ago lost all credibility and I refuse to listen to them, watch them or read them. Orwell’s predictions are no longer predictions.
