It was Coderre’s misfortune to find few Canadians to talk to when he walked through a recreational area for troops on Monday. He joined two Canadian soldiers for a coffee, but they refused to have their photograph taken with him.
A corporal who was ordering a pizza shook Coderre’s hand. Moments later he told a journalist he knew that Coderre wanted to end the combat mission, which is strongly supported by the troops.

‘Peace village.By now most of us know what the Islamic definition of ‘peace’ is. Same sort of thing as their definition of ‘martyr.’
Good thing it isn’t an exclusive village for Baptists, or something. The outrage that would’ve provoked. The outright bigotry and divisiveness. The assault against Canadian values, like multiculturalism.
MM, when I read your story about the “Ahmadiyya sect”, I was curious. I’d never heard of this Islamic sect before. Why did they flee Pakistan?
It’s an interesting story (I know, wikipedia, sources are cited though): http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ahmadi
One of their core beliefs:
“Claim that as per prophecy, the messiah rendered the concept of violent Jihad unnecessary in modern times. They believe that the answer of hate should be given by love. As their khalifas said that ‘if anyone attacks us we must not attack him and should love him’ this is called “Jihaad-e-Akbar” (The Greater Jihad).”
Vitruvius: THANKS. Those ME guy ones are really good too. Pro-State cancer!

Belisarius The Optimist said of the Muslimc sect behind Peace Village, Muslim only subdivision that they:
Claim that as per prophecy, the messiah rendered the concept of violent Jihad unnecessary in modern times.
Yeah … but that’s not necessarily comforting. In fact, had the left not drained this word of all terror, I’d be tempted to say this is scary. We’re submitting without a fight.
I read the story. The cat said that they do not restrict purchases to Muslims. However, as we both know that is an empty statement.
As wise observers have noted from the get-go: multiculturalism was a one-way sucker street.
You also know, I’m sure, that spokespersons decry the killing of “innocent civilians”. Look up Anjem Choudry for a full understanding of “innocent”, as in, you ain’t Belisarius.
B: you suffer from what what professor Richard Landes at Boston University (Augean Stables/seconddraft.org)calls cognitive egocentrism.
Language my good man, and its multifarious uses thereof.
Yes, and you can well imagine the hue and cry if this had been a Catholic or Baptist subdivision, eh, and the malicious guffaws should the claim be made that purchases weren’t restricted.
you can well imagine the hue and cry if this had been a Catholic or Baptist subdivision
I’m surprised at you, MND. These guys are religious refugees. They’re not even considered true Muslims by Sunnis and Shiites! OBL would probably behead them on sight…
There is ample precedent in Canada for religious refugees living apart in their own communities. A good example are the Hutterite colonies here in Alberta.
Belisarius: I view it as a valid point your comparison to the Hutterites, but…does the Q’uran have a similar instruction as the Bible wherein it states “Come apart and be ye separate” (or something like that)?
The Hutterites can point to Scripture for justification of what they do…can this Muslim sect do the same? Or are they just xenophobic or avoiding “contamination” with the heathen?
Eeyore – Or are they just xenophobic or avoiding “contamination” with the heathen
I don’t know enough about them to be able to answer that question. Wikipedia articles always have to be taken with a grain of salt. My suspicion is that they lived like this in Pakistan for mutual protection and have continued the practice here, but I don’t know that for a fact.
There may be some examples of religious refugees living apart in their own communities, however this group plunked itself down smack in the middle of Toronto’s biggest Italian community.
How did a persecuted minority – from Pakistan no less – finance this arrangement? The Italians largely came here with nothing and built themselves up through a generation or two of brutal manual labour.
I’ve lived/worked in Toronto my whole life, and never saw a hijab prior to 9-11/never encountered anyone who identified themself as Muslim. What gives?

NO MATTER WHAT HE LEARNS on his “fact-finding mission” to Afghanistan, Liberal defense critic Denis Coderre said Monday that he and his party remained convinced that Canada must end its combat mission here when the current mandate expires. (emphasis mine) http://www.canada.com/topics/news/story.html?id=202b1503-d672-4090-9220-952b41a8f260&k=33356
That’s right Coderre, never let the facts get in the way of your opinion.
Question: Deni Coderre says he went to Afghanistan “on his own”.
It was unauthorized by the military and the government. I suppose he CHOSE NOT TO GO IN JULY with the all party Defence Committee including Liberal Carolyn Bennet.
He can go to another authorized trip being planned for next month in November which is to accomodate Dion.
So, it’s not like he did not and does not have ample authorized opportunity. Gosh – if he really cared he was part of the government who sent our troops in 2001. he could have gone in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005; last year on several all party junketin 2006, in January 2007 and July 2007.
My question: WHO is paying for Codere’s PERSONAL trip? Since it is 100% politicing it had better not be the taxpayer. The LIBERAL PARTY MUST pick up the tab on this one or Denis himself.
If NOT I as a taxpayer will raise a huge stink. Anybody else agree?
Belisarius: Well, I will have to defer to your judgment on the Peace Village at least for the moment. I really don’t know enough about this sect of “religious refugees” to have expressed that opinion. Mea culpa. I shall very much look forward to their loud and unequivocal denouncements of Islamic violece againt “innocent” civilians whilst clearly explaining that innocent doesn’t mean Muslim.
But of course, Shiites want us dead, and Sunnis want Shiites dead, and us dead …. damn I’ve got a fierce headache.
Missauga Matt: makes a good point about the appearance of Hijabs, sorta like the opening scenes of a Hitchcock movie (The Birds?). I’m guessing that 99.9% of Muslim women are forced to adopt this separatist attire in that miserable patriarchal prison they live in.
Migawd, did I really use the word “patriarchal”. 🙂
MM: What’s that about? Creeping Sharia. Sharia for Dummies.
But of course, Shiites want us dead, and Sunnis want Shiites dead, and us dead …. damn I’ve got a fierce headache.
Damnit, this is getting tiresome. Maybe radical Jihadis want you dead, but I doubt the million+ Muslims living peacefully in Canada today do.
Agreed Lorraine. The self important little weasel is on an attention seeking trip for himself so he must be paying for it himself, if not, we’d better find out where the funds came from. It’s of no importance to anyone else, least of all the members of the Forces who pretty much ignored him, he’s basically persona non grata. Dion is another twit they may not be too interested in seeing either.
Iraq insurgency: People rise against al-Qa’eda
By Damien McElroy in Husaybah
[…]
A transformation has swept western Iraq that allows Marines to walk through areas that a year ago were judged lost to radical Islam control and hear nothing more aggressive than a late-night game of pool.
Behind the shutters the Sunni Muslim residents of the province are enjoying the dividends of driving out al-Qa’eda fighters who had imposed an oppressive Taliban-style regime.
The popular uprising against al-Qa’eda by residents of Anbar Province turned former enemies into American allies earlier this year. The result was a dramatic restoration of stability across Iraq’s Sunni heartland. Husaybah bears the scars of the “terrorist” years – 2004 and 2005 – when al-Qa’eda and its local allies controlled the town. …- http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/main.jhtml?xml=/news/2007/10/08/wanbar308.xml
I have a thoeory about WHY Denis Coderre did not wait to go on the official Afghan junket with Dion next month. No theories on WHY he did not even BOTHER to go on the one in July or January this year except for it is only important to him when it scores him political points.
Dion is shuffling his shadow cabinet this week. As we all know Dion has been MUZZLED and the Chretien/PowerCorporation/Desmairais power brokers have once again hijacked the Liberals and now call the shots.
Dion, now rendered as a puppet, has NO SAY anymore about his cabinet, the office managers – NOTHING. He may as well be a lampost and someone else controls his off and on switch.
My hunch is that Coderre KNOWS that he is going to be shuffled OUT of his position as Defence Critic. He likes that job too much – gives him media face time and we all know that he IS a known terrorist group sympathizer and his power for them would be his ability to get the inside track (yes, I am suggesting treasonous reasons but this is Coderre of AdScam and Gagliano mafia linked fame).
My theory is that Coderre staged this stunt to try to reinforce his position as Liberal defence critic.
He is talking to any media outlet who will give him face time about “the Liberal position”. He will NOT be let go in a shadow cabinet shuffle quietly.
Who else would agree that Denis Coderre does not do ANYTHING that is for the good of Canada – only for the good of Denis Coderre.
He may also know where AdScam skeltons are buried as in Gomery it was revealed he personally received at least $10,000 from GroupAction. (YOUR money). That might also give him some blackmail leverage amongst Cretien’s old cronies who have now engulfed Dion.
So…do you think this theory has merit?
Thought I would write the next Federal Liberal campaign “au gratis” for them since Dion & Company are a little broke (except for all those under the table don’t have to pay back “loans” from PowerCorp and Bob Rae’s brother John):
Here’s the NEW/OLD/SAME OLD LIBERAL CAMPAIGN SPEECH:

French jets based in Kandahar close to action
KANDAHAR AIRFIELD, Afghanistan – As recently as four days ago, French fighter jets scrambled in response to a call for close air support from troops from the Quebec-based Royal 22nd Regiment fighting insurgents.
While details of that mission remain secret, it was not the first time France has come to the aid of Canadian ground troops fighting in Kandahar.
“I’ve helped the Canadians many times,” said Lt.- Col. Fabien Mandon, commander of the Kandahar Air Expeditionary Group as he stood in front of one of the first three French Mirage 2000 jets to be based here. “But the nationality is not important. We will do this for everybody here.” …-

One of the best things about being in Kandahar was being able to speak with soldiers of the Royal 22nd Regiment, even if the accents of the Quebec-based troops were sometimes difficult to understand, Mandon said.
“We met a Canadian here last week who spoke French who had been on the ground during one of our combat missions,” he said. “Such meetings are a real advantage of being here because we can improve our tactics. We can understand why they must do things we don’t like and they can understand why we do things they don’t like.
“We learned what the Canadians face on the ground. It is not just about us. They use artillery, too. It helps us better understand the fight.” …- http://www.canada.com/topics/news/story.html?id=55e7d464-173a-427c-a0bb-8b81cce99c19&k=70357

Psychiatric Association Releases Final Report on “Lee Bollinger’s Disease”
By William S. Smith : 03 Oct 2007
(SATIRENEWSSERVICE) The World Psychiatric Association (WPA) today issued its long-awaited, massive study on Intelligentsia Derangement Disorder (IDD). Known popularly as Lee Bollinger’s Disease, IDD is characterized by profound disruption in cognition involving the most fundamental human attributes: language, thought, perception and desire for self preservation.
The disease has been found in epidemic proportions on university campuses. The WPA study, which included extensive case histories of every single academic in the United States and Western Europe, reports that 99.99999% of all, non-economist social science professors are affected as are almost all tenured members of the “Arts” faculties of universities throughout the developed world.
According to the Report’s main author, Dr. Edith Erwachsenenwelt, M.D., Ph.D., the cognitive development of most sufferers of IDD ends in early adolescence whereas non-sufferers experience continued development of their cognitive capacities throughout adulthood. “The cessation of the process of adult cognitive development,” said Dr. Erwachsenenwelt, “produces the following symptoms, all of which are exhibited by each and every IDD sufferer”: …- http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1908768/posts

What gives?

No wonder the federal Liberal Party is coming apart at the seams… there
seems to be some contagious psychosis ripping through their ranks.

NO MATTER WHAT HE LEARNS on his “fact-finding mission” to Afghanistan, Liberal defense critic Denis Coderre said Monday that he and his party remained convinced that Canada must end its combat mission here when the current mandate expires. (emphasis mine)
http://www.canada.com/topics/news/story.html?id=202b1503-d672-4090-9220-952b41a8f260&k=33356

The worst 101 modern media frauds:

We will do this for everybody here.” …-
[…]
One of the best things about being in Kandahar was being able to speak with soldiers of the Royal 22nd Regiment, even if the accents of the Quebec-based troops were sometimes difficult to understand, Mandon said.
“We met a Canadian here last week who spoke French who had been on the ground during one of our combat missions,” he said. “Such meetings are a real advantage of being here because we can improve our tactics. We can understand why they must do things we don’t like and they can understand why we do things they don’t like.
“We learned what the Canadians face on the ground. It is not just about us. They use artillery, too. It helps us better understand the fight.” …-

Erwachsenenwelt, “produces the following symptoms, all of which are exhibited by each and every IDD sufferer”: …-

Geez Lorraine you have asked more pertinent questions about Denis Coderre and raised more points than all the MSM journalists and pundits in all Canada in ten years.
Who are you Lorraine?
Kate McMillan in disguise?
Just wondering.
Stay with us!!
Need more proof that the PowerCorp/Desmairais/Maurice Strong/Chretien/Gagliano types backroom unelected power brokers have regained their “rightful” control of the Federal Liberals:
John Rae, from Powercorp – Maurice Strong’s nephew and Bob Rae’s brother has taken over as chief executive of the Liberals and GOSH – his dear unelected brother Bob Rae has just been named the Liberal Foreign Affairs shadow minister.
Just to keep his little hands in those oh so yummy big money business dealings they have with China AND the monk killing Burmese governments until they can buy the country back and get their hands back on the taxpayer’s money.
BUT, when you are richest person in Canada as Desmarais is ($4 billion and counting) and you are accustomed to OWNING every Prime mInister since Trudeau (including Mulroney who now works for him, Paul Martin was mentored by him and Maurice Strong “gifted” little Paulie a shipping company) well, buying the people around Dion will be a cinch.
Just watched a bit of “politics” on cbc.Everyone thinks the appointment of Rae is a good if not great thing. No one mentioned that he does not have a seat in Parliament, but of course that is only bad when the conservatives do it.
Lorraine … I may be developing a crush on you!
