Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

Why don’t they just nuke us? Damned if we do, damned if we don’t – the UN never likes what we do. All the CO2 that us unwashed masses are pumping into the atmosphere thru our actions or inaction is our fault in the end. I am going to go and commit suicide as I can’t stand the guilt I feel for allowing bacteria in soil to fart that dangerous CO2!
mcguinty proposing new NEP , transfer money from Alberta to Ontario thru carbon credits.

Danny “whine for wine” Williams can see that any oil producer that flares ie NFLD will be in the transfer out mode.
all and all its just another brick in the wall.

boot Alberta and its grin ‘ouse gizzes now!
Yeah, it really does seem like Ontario wants to treat Alberta like an ATM in the oil boom times, and the red-headed step child otherwise.
Kate, this is so astounding, you’ve got to read it.
It’s on the front page of ace.mu.nu – there IS a cautionary note, but you should read all the sourced references and watch for new ones to come out.

1998 – hottest year in the last century?
Nope. NASA discovered a Y2K bug that caused the data to be misinterpreted. It was in fact 1934. 1998 was second hottest and 1921 was third. In fact, 5 of the 10 warmest years on record now all occur before World War II.
In other words, half the hottest days including the hottest took place in the first 40% of the century.
As I say at Ace’s:
And as Ace puts even better:
Also, here are the quietly (very quietly!) revised figures from NASA:

I remember reading in the Western Producer an article on the Green Party.
They wanted farmers to go organic, but they wanted them to remain Zero Till.
Some people shouldn’t be allowed within 100 feet of making public policy.
Also, here’s the old NASA data for comparison:

You know, biologists, medical doctors, geneticists, politicians, and a whole ream of social scientists wouldn’t dream of commenting on high energy particle physics as they don’t understand the science of the field and are inept in offering thier opinions.
But you know all of the above consider themselves as experts when it comes to the science of Climatology. Last time I checked there were only 80 bona fide Climatologists in North America. Makes you wonder where the IPCC gets their 2,500 experts from.
they have 2500 NAMES. They have about 700 “experts”
Just a little more IPCC fraud to confuse the public & the MSM.
here is my new theory on CBCpravda. they make things like the Arar story their top priorty because they have access to the stuff that we dont. as for the rest of the (Carleton school of leftist journalists) stories, every time they make a comment on a technical issue there are a few hundred “better experts” that jump all over them.
Oh, doh, did I miss Kate’s entire post below this one?
Sorry, guys.
Great work, Kate — as usual.
Yeah – it’s only been up about 16 hours….
You folks just don’t understand anything. It used to be about global warming but Suzuki changed it to “Climate Change” a couple of years ago when there had been no warming for about 5 years. You can’t be tripped up on climate change. No hard numbers to get mixed up.

Penn and Teller did a show that touched on this a while back. It makes perfect sense, ofcourse, to anyone who stops to think for a minute. Te whole point of modern industrialized farming is to increase efficiency. Increased efficiency means less energy and land used to harvest a greater amount of food. Less land and energy used equals less pollution. Therefore modern agriculture is much more environmentally friendly than “organic” agriculture. I’ve been pointing this out to people for years, and they always slip into the “well, it’s better for ME” excuse. At which point I don’t know whether to call them idiots of hypocrites.
I used to be a global warming denier, but since I found out that global warming causes global cooling, I have been converted to the side of being an un-denier-denier that denies its is warm when it is cool and denies cold when it is warm and vice versa, I think that is my position now, I think, maybe.
I’m not exactly enamoured with TCS, finding it way to techno-upbeat (says the techie) and mindlessly libertarian (says the crypto-lib), but they do stumble across a cogent argument from time to time. This is part of one.
As for organic, I grew my “crops” organically, all 6000 sq.ft. of them…for the first 2 years. Then I discovered the virtues of Roundup for site prep.
My father-in-law began zero-tilling in the late ’70’s. Works for the kitchen gardens too.
My father-in-law just won first prize for his organic wheat at the local ag fair. It beat out the sad looking Roundup Ready stuff.
Roundup. Cheez Whiz.

ABOUT THAT RECORD HOT SUMMER OF 1934:
Some 1934 tangential historical trivia, from what I’ve read and what I learned from my late Dad:
Up until 1934, it was the custom all over N America, enforced by laws and strong custom in most locales, that men wore bathing suits with tops, generally the sleeveless T type. (I have copies of a couple of photos of my Dad as a very young man wearing one of those type suits.)
The summer of 1934 was SO hot, especially all up and down the N. American eastern seaboard, that daring men started taking off their bathing suit tops at beaches, lakesides, etc.
At first on most urban beaches, the police tried to stop that trend by actually arresting those men for indecent exposure. Finally at the height of the extreme heat in that summer, the trend became far too widespread, with far too many men taking off their tops, for the police to be able to stop the trend any more.
So the record hot summer of 1934 gets the credit for men being able to ditch those ridiculous tank top suits. (That bit of history also gives a somewhat different perspective on ladies choosing to go topless at beaches, lakeside, etc. To each his OR her own, eh?!)
Canuck… snicker!
Me, too. Er, you ARE saying AGW is a load of crap?
I go through at least 1 Roundup concentrate container around the yard each year. Beats pulling weeds.
Kate; Weed-and-feed & mayonnaise?
“A dead heat for Man’s Most Perfect Creations”
Again, sausages get no respect. Long live the wurst!!
BTW: I’m not dissing Roundup, DDT, Cheez Whiz, Mayo, and the different mustards … except for the “lights”.
I have nothing against organic farming at all, except the medias attempt to portray it as so friendly to the enviorment. An old neighbor went organic and he bought an implement that looked much like a scuffler except it was hooked up to propane and had guards for the plants as the nozzles between scorched the weeds with flame.
how hot does it have to get before the women ditch their tops. nudge nudge wink wink know whaddimean?
the green revolution in the mid sixties stopped global starvation, it was with fertilizer and pesticides not with a few organic farmers with squirrel living in their beards stomping night soil into the oxen plowed furrows. the organic folk would pass a death sentence on the poor of the world, but would be happy they died on a high fibre diet of grass and grubs.
The favorite diet of eco-weenies NUTS AND BERRIES as well as TWIGS AND LEAVES and health crack-pots like JERIMY RIFKIN he should eat grass
When I go to the super market I always ask for the in-organic carrots and lettuce. The clerks are dumbfounded when I ask this as they didn’t know the difference between organic and in organic.
For the record all produce is organic.
