Jason has been having a fit over this video, insinuating that the label was fake, had to be a top tory insider that took the picture and the whole thing is fake. Yet, there is Holland, in front of the boxes, with the label in plain sight. Computer programs can do great things re enhancing a picture and bringing out the smallest detail. Guess Jason is not a CSI fan.
Holland is more of a media whore than Garth. The man is the slimliest piece of work on the Hill.
Holland is a hoot. Steals boxes from the speaker of the house then parades his trophies in front of the national media and tries to blame the conservatives. Mark, you didn’t steal from the Conservatives you stole from Parliment.
Odd those boxes weren’t missed until the Liberals delivered them.
Make all the excuses you want to, Harper’s team bungled this. Face it, cons are incompetent.
Not necessarily so albatross
At least some of that material dates back to the days of Reform and Alliance.
When’s the last time you looked at your Highschool yearbooks or your graduation diploma?
Or how about that old picture of you catching your first fish?
I agree with the notions that (1) it is absurd for the Liberals to claim that the Conservatives were not obeying the privacy requirements in our statutes when it was the Liberals themselves who clearly read through private information they were not authorized to access, (2) there are serious issues regarding the Liberals handling of property under the parliamentary jurisdiction of the Speaker, (3) there are legitimate questions regarding the Liberals taking documents out of the parliamentary domain of the Wellington building, onto the streets of Ottawa, when the labeled address was on the third floor of the same building, and all such off-site moves are normally handled by parliament’s official moving department, (4) it is the height of moral turpitude for anyone suggest that because the boxes were lost by someone, it is ok for someone else to violate our privacy statutes and the notions of honour and common decency, et cetera.
Yet I don’t recall seeing any evidence that liberalvideo is other than a disconnected individual. Is there any evidence that liberalvideo is connected in any official way with any official organization? Orthogonally, whoever liberalvideo is, he/she/they must be pretty naive to believe that getting it banned at YouTube would quash it. How 2006.
Tonight on CPAC Marlene Jennings was talking about these boxes. I missed most of it but caught her saying that the Conservatives were “negligent” in leaving behind these “confidential” papers. blah blah.
Seems to me the less the Liberals say about this the better. She did not seem to think rifling through “confidential” papers that do not belong to you and are clearly marked to be someone else’s property is wrong.
They think this is “justified” just in case they find something that would be in the public interest.
I would love to see the Conservatives rifle through a few old Liberal files myself because there could be secrets there that would be in the public interest.
Chretien and Martin couldn’t have shredded everything could they?
Liberals shredding?
Just wait for the Harper majority, and it IS comming.
The investigation, and the corruption that will be revealed from MORE than the last 13 years, well stock up on beer and popcorn.
May you live in interesting times!
Dumb move on the Liberals part. By having the video pulled off the net the Liberals have created more interest in an already embarrassing news story.
All self induced I might add.
You cannot justify keeping these boxes for 14 months by ANY logic, and worse yet they know the exact contents of said boxes. Did Marlene or Marc happen to mention how much of said boxes contents were copied in some way?

liberalvideo is the user that posts the official Liberal Party videos on youtube. Go check out the user profile and see for yourself. Deleteing that video goes to the heart of the OLO, and that kind of censorship not only stinks, it’s downright frightening.
I guess Dion remembers Chretien’s strategy in dealing with the Adscam he more than definitely had a party in – deny, deny, cover up, and deny.
Thanks for that tip, Matt, yet I went and looked at the first half-dozen of liberalvideo‘s YouTube entries and none of them were, as you suggested, official Liberal Party videos. Even if some of the other’s are official, anyone can upload official party videos, as long as they have been broadcast. Broadcast capture is easy.
I just don’t see the value of claiming, without evidence, that liberalvideo is connected to any official organization, when the errors, fouls, and own-goals committed by the Liberals in the matter at hand are already so damning.
There’s no point in muddying the waters with trivial matters, especially when they are not even well supported by the evidence.

BillGatesLoveChild writes “Bob Cringely reports that an interview potentially embarrassing to Steve Jobs was taken off YouTube. The interview was from Cringely’s 1990s show Triumph of the Nerds. YouTube said it responded to a DMCA complaint made by NBD Television Ltd in London. Trouble is, NBD is not the copyright holder. They have nothing at all to do with the show and don’t even sell it. PBS, who made and holds the copyright said they knew nothing of the complaint. Cringely tried to contact NBD Television Ltd who wouldn’t respond. Neither would Youtube, who only speaks by form letter. ‘Why did NBD Television make the complaint? Why did YouTube blindly enforce it? Is Steve Jobs behind this, or is it just another media company misusing the DMCA, at that, not even with their own copyrighted material? Why should a London-based company be able to issue DMCA takedowns, yet not be liable when they abuse the law?'” http://yro.slashdot.org/yro/07/03/31/0623246.shtml
One can only hope this country wakes up to the petty squabbling the liberals and ndp represent, and give Harper a majority. Then we will see just how much and who has benifitted from 13 years of oughtright theft with all the liberals feel good programs that were designed to steal our money! albatros, yours to if your mommy gives you any. The theiving liberals introduced no programs that did not facilitate a way of stealing from it, did you not notice albatros, hrdc, gun control, day care, indian affairs, sponsorship, need I go on for you liberals for who history begins every morning.
In regard to the boxes, the F/U about moving them lies with Public Works, or the local physical resources team, not ANY member of staff. You don’t move stuff in the gubbermint, there are civil servants to do it. Holland is a thief…, not a whistle blower. If the Libs want to bitch about things left behind, they can start with a government full of lib hirelings – many, if not most civil servants currently working in gov had never known anything else but Liberal stewardship (or more accurately, lack of it), save the last year or so. A good many have absolutely no idea what to do now…
Skip, you are so right on. Harper has had to put up with lieberal mandarins and senior bureaucrats who are working against him in every way. Of course, these people want their liberal friends back in power. In the USA when a new administration takes power senior staffers leave with the old administration giving the new administration freedom to bring in people with a similar mindset to the administration. It’s about time the same policy was adopted in Canada.
I thought I read that there were 15 boxes but saw only a few. During the next election when the Liberals get some “leaked” document will the Conservatives get to say that it was not leaked it was part of the stolen boxes?
Mark Holland actually said that they were only returning a few of the boxes and were still going through the others to see if there was something of PUBLIC INTEREST in boxes of confidential PRIVATE materials not belonging to them and clearly marked.
The fact he said this tells me this little Nancy Drew-boy has absolutely NO sense of right and wrong.
And, I read that he has three children. What would he tell his children to do if they found something that did not belong to them?
That video is from last week…
