  1. the trick with vehicles on the ice:
    KEEP MOVING.
if you park it, the weight WILL eventually cause that area to sag (unless its froze right to the bottom) aaaaaaaand….. crack._________crack._____________________crack.___splash !!!
take a real dumbass to put that much weight on frozen water but they keep doing it. part of the masculinahmaaaaanhood thing.

  3. Be very, very afraid of purchasing a used black F-150 any time soon.
Built Ford Tough? More like Built Ford Toast!

  4. Thats gotta hurt. The boys could have used a couple of telephone poles in the rescue operation. It looks like that truck isn’t just wet….I think they bent the frame a bunch also.
    Ouch!
    Syncro

  5. Is Kate even aware that the comments on this thread are being systamaticly removed when mention of the gay agenda in connection with FORD is shown?

  6. I agree with Randall. I too saw three of the comments that have been removed, per the SDA comment policy clearly stated in every SDA comments page below the words “Post a comment”: ensure your comment is on topic and profanity is discouraged.
The concept of freedom of speech means that the state is not allowed to prevent speech as a matter of statute. The concept does not apply to private property, such as SDA, which operates per the rules of the proprietor.
Anyone who is unhappy with this reality is, I’m sure, welcome to go and get their own blog. Otherwise, if they keep mocking the house rules, then they should not be surprised to get a visit from the bouncers.

  7. That’s unfortunate.
Probably a spring in that area, or he tried to get out a little too early, the ice looks only 8 inches thick.
Spent all weekend on Lk. Simcoe in Ontario we have over 24 inches of clear strong ice but too much snow on top for pickups.
Caught two nice lakers on sunday and a nice feed of perch on saturday.
Great year so far on the ice!
    Tightlines!

  8. richfisher: In Saskatchewan a lot of our lakes have springs that can wear away ice that is normally 3 feet thick by now. Anyone venturing onto lakes for the first time should stick to established trails until they find out from the locals where the dangerous spots are. Fresh snow cover can hide ice that is only millimeters thick, but trails always freeze down the thickest because the snow is packed and doesn’t insolate the ice beneath.
    Lakers! how big?

  9. The lakers were caught in 78 ft of water.
The first was 10 lbs and the second was 4 lbs.
Caught on 4lb P-Line Fluorocarbon, live bait rigged emarld shiners with one bearpaw dropper hook, and one hook just off bottem.
The rod is rigged on a (teeter totter) balance, with a soft strike indicator like tip.
Have not seen anyone go through the ice yet here this year, but I’ve heard a couple of stories around ice up.
My friends and I are constantly upgrading our gear and assist in any way we can when someone is in distress.
Most of our southern Ontario stories of serious ice problems consist of locals getting drunk and driving off the ice and into open water at night.
    PS.
A cell phone probably saved my friends brothers life two weeks ago in a snowmobile accident.
    Good Luck Paul !

  10. Ford tough?
Hell, Ford tough is my dog.
Ran over by a F150 when he was about 5 yrs old. Slit from belly to brisket.
Ran back up the driveway as if nothing happened.
Then laid in the same spot for about 5 or 10 days, licking his wounds.
Later he had the crap beaten out of him by somebody or something. Possible broken hip.
Here he is now. At age 18 or 19. Still ticking.
Slowed somewhat nowadays, but has never slept inside, even in minus 40 weather.
He couldn’t lick his lips now, but still protects the property.
    What a tough dog.
Anybody mentions Ford tough and I have to tell my F150 tough dog story.
