  1. I’d say that he’s a Liberal (cf Mark Holland) who claims that if you understood his words in a certain manner (eg, soldiers’ lives WASTED), then the problem is yours – because he didn’t mean ‘wasted’ even though he used the word; he meant….a whole long sentence of other things..even though he didn’t say them.
Mark Holland didn’t mean to ‘limit the oil sands expansion’ even though he said exactly that – limiting the oil sands expansion.
Mark Holland didn’t mean to ‘cap growth in the oil sands’ even though he said ‘we need to have caps’.
Heck – it’s your fault if you mistake what someone says for what they mean.

  2. Just wait until the MSM breaks the news that Mr. Iraq Osama….uh…I mean Barrack Obama… announces Oprah Whinfrey as his Vice Presidential running mate.
That was borderline racism, Kathy. I’ll check the Rolodex and see if there’s an advocacy group I can put you in touch with for some sensitivity traing! Perhaps for starters you’ll be encouraged to celebrate Kwanza when it rolls arounda again.

  3. Obama has fingerprints of the Clinton Machine all over him.
He is the force to galvinize the nutroots and moonbats on the frings left but inevitably will go down in flames.
Meanwhile, Hitlery stays in the center and after Osama, er, Obama goes down, the loons and moonbats cast their vote for what’s left—Shrillery.
BTW, where is Howard “the Loon” Dean these days anyway?
    Precisely.

  4. Let me start by saying that I disagree with Obama, however if he truely believes what he says about Iraq then he’s right to call the loss of life a waste. Regardless of what side your on, to pull out now before the jobs complete would be a criminal waste.

  5. One of the “Scariest” propositions I can imagine is the election of Hillary Rodham-Clinton as president of the United States.
I’ve never seen a more self serving opportunist ever.
This woman represents everything that is foul in political life and I don’t believe for a minute that the US or the world deserves that creature as a leader!
One can only hope that the Republicans will manage to find their nuts and their brains soon enough to counter the threat that this political carrion eater represents.
    Be afraid!

  6. Obama is trying to be the second Black President after Bubba, but he lacks the political instincts of Bubba who had the street sense of a Chrétien.
Obama has eloquence without any substance. Substance is NOT required for Democrats or Liberal utopians because they don’t deal with reality anyway. All they need is their kool-aid. The kool-aid like the Stepford Wives drank to keep their hubbies happy. Just go through the motions, no reality is necessary .. fake it .
I’ve met dozens of people like Obama and Clinton in the business world. They can ramble on in a silky smooth fashion and have people nodding their heads in fully agreement. I’ll find myself wondering … where’s the beef? What’s the point?
I saw Paul Martin do that once at a little pep talk he gave at the University Club about 5 years ago. Everybody was ooohing and aw’ing. I was wondering… Do Liberals have their own secret code and it’s going over my head?
Obama is probably a decent guy. The most damning thing I can say about him is that he is a lot like Bubba and Martin.
Chrétien had street sense. Bubba’s gift of the gab plus powerful political instincts made up for a lack of policy. Those could survive with no substance, no poltical philosophy.
Obama and Martin have no policy but they have a gift of the gab .. That isn’t quite enough anymore to fake it , they’re missing street sense.
Dion has no gift of the gab and no political instincts. He’s a disaster.

  7. nomdenet, I think Mr.Dion is “perfect” for the Liberals. haha.
as for Mr. Obama, his lack of experience shouldn’t be such a problem, I have more of a problem with his regular democrat type values though.

  8. He’ll get away with it. He’s a Democrat. He’s black. If he were a lesbian, he’d be hitting for the cycle, with both the female and homosexual criteria going for him. Then he’d be absolutely beyond criticism for anything that he said.

  9. Think about this: newcomer candidates are quite often positioning themselves for Vice-President.
Now would this not be a scary duo.

  10. I have never like this guy. He has always struck me as a slick weasel. Here’s a punk that only won a Senate seat by a fluke, serves two paltry years in the Senate and only because of the superficial whoring of the MSM like Anna Nicole Whatever races across our tv screens.
Typical Dem’s candidate, all form, no substance.
Scary isn’t it, we are the front line – money and military – in what is going to be the English speaking world’s toughest test slogging through the WOT, which will probably consume this century, and this is what the Dems and MSM serve up.

  11. “Typical Dem’s candidate, all form, no substance.”
Because Mitt Romney is deep as a lake.
The fact Obama is lacking experience may not be the worst thing. W and Bubba had lots of experience and look how that turned out.
Obama is positioning for 2012 or the VP slot. Do not underestimate him, he gives a great speech, even if not saying a whole lot, and his Q factor will be massive in a few weeks.

  12. Doug
Howard “the Loon” Dean is giving speeches to Liberal conventions up in Canada – Liberals in Canada must be enthralled with his kind of politics or with his looniness.

  13. Monty “Think about this: newcomer candidates are quite often positioning themselves for Vice-President.
Now would this not be a scary duo.”
Nope! Not against Rudy Giuliani and his mate Mitt Romney. The more I think about those 2 fantastic Republicans, the more I think they’ll win by acclimation. Everyone else will just give up and quit.

  14. W and Bubba had lots of experience and look how that turned out.
I’m looking, kevink. Bubba was a pathetic Dem waffler with the morals of a tom cat and got himself impeached, a historic rarity, lying in a legal deposition. W has been consistently on task in the WOT, has no personal scandals involving misplaced cigars and interns, no one has nailed him as a liar that hasn’t(including the WMD crap) had to retract it.
And, kevink, any moron, actually the best sociopaths give great speeches. “Even if not saying a whole lot” is a pathetic qualifier. You’ve underscored my point about form over substance.

  15. Actually Penny the point is that in all politics, form over substance is the norm.Bubba was impeached for lying about a blowjob; Nixon for lying about a break – in, W has an approval rating that is among the lowest ever and Cheney may lead to impeachment yet.Republicans will always mention the cigar when talking about Clinton and Dems will alway mention that Bush 43 is stupid. Both presidencies deserve better. The fact that some of the pundits think the fact that Obama’s middle name is Hussien or that he supposedly ( but did not) attend a Madrassa school is more important than what he is actually saying is dangerous. Ignore him if you want but the public that vote is enthralled and they count more than you and I trading barbs on a website.
The problem in the States and in Canada is that the the there is only black and white / left and right. The truth is always in the middle not on the severe edges.

  16. kevink – Clinton was impeached and lost his law license in Arkansas for lying in a deposition, period. His sex life was irrelevant. It wasn’t the issue of his impeachment. Nixon was never impeached. Form over substance isn’t the norm “in all politics” or we wouldn’t be the world’s oldest democracy and a cheap shot at the good citizens that have for generations studied the issues and voted.
The ultimate form over substance lemmings are the people that take polls seriously, not understanding their superficial nature – who’s poll?, how is it designed? Who cares.
….the public that vote is enthralled….
Says who? You? The MSM? That’s not a known fact until the voters take it to the voting booth.
You’ve again make my case about form over substance, but, your not getting that you are the perfect example.

  17. “Form over substance is the norm”
.. and your proof is that Clinton and Nixon lied? Truman, JFK, Reagan, Thatcher… all had lots of form over substance. In fact, Nixon may go down in history very favorably (versus his unfortunate incident with some plumbers) by having recognized China, anyway China wasn’t form; it was very very significant substance.
Harper has more substance in his little figure than we’ve seen in the last 13 years.
Pundits aren’t listening to “what Obama is actually saying”. I am and I haven’t a clue .. well … he talks about “hope”
What does “hope” from a Presidential candidate mean to 300 million people in the richest, most complex society in the world? What “hope” can Obama possibly deliver into America, the greatest experiment the world has ever seen? Hope comes from within, unless you’re in North Korea. .someone tell Obama to preach to the Norks about hope.
Anyway we’re not going to get “form over substance” by saying that’s all there is, we have to demand it.

  18. the world is just too too dangerous to be doing it based on ‘charisma’ any more.
the message hasnt gotten out to the namby pamby set.

  19. knock knock!!
    uh, nomd:
Truman had vastly more substance than form.
a man of his word, which stalin soon learned and therefore shyed away from increasing the number of hot spots in the world once korea got going and was handed over to the chinese communists.
reagan had both in spades, and killed communism because of it, along with Ms Thatcher and her substance.
jfk 1.0 was ALL form over substance and almost got the globe wiped out because of it.
as far as the impeachment is concerned, why the fuk did the line of questioning ever happen?? wtf difference does it make which bouncy young female intern winds up with a stogie in her pussy in the oval office??
the republicans wanted payback and got it on a TRIVIAL issue which bubba panicked and lied about.

  20. It has been reported that Obama doesn’t have a chance at winning the nomination. Forget about form, substance, charisma etc. This guy has one fatal flaw that cannot be forgiven by the Dems. Quite simply, he is a smoker! No, not cigars but cigarettes!
In his home. In America. And no, I’m not making this up.

  21. Penny,
Please do not assume anything about me. I despise the fact that both sides of the spectrum seem to revel in the mudslinging in this 24 hour news cycle. I wish everyone voted based on substance over style but that seems to be nothing more than a pipedream on my part. You are correct, I mis spoke about Nixon- he was forced to resign before being impeached. Also I believe you may find some alternate thoughts to the oldest democracy argument here :http://www.guardian.co.uk/notesandqueries/query/0,,-80426,00.html It seem Iceland and The Isle of Man may have the US beat by a few years – 800 or so.

  22. Here’s a bold prediction. Hillary Clinton will win the dem nomination, choose Obama as VP. She will win the presidency, bucking the trend of US Senators not taking the White House.
Then, surpirse, Moore, Gore et al will discover something. Hillary is a hawk, she will preside from common sense (at least compared to Gore), with some substance, and Bubba will be a valued advisor. She saw her husband’s mistakes, notwithstanding his humiliating infidelities, especially when dealing with terrorism; she will do better. She will likely get troops out of Iraq, though not immediately. Hopefully, a good portion of those troops will go to Afghanistan and deal with Pakistan too.

  23. Free, I don’t take meds; I just made a fun prediction. Don’t take me too seriously, lest you need meds. Let’s see if I’m right.
