Listening to Adler right now, there’s a story that new Alberta premier Ed Stelmach may have refused a photo-op with new Sustnabul Develpmunt leader Stephane Dion on his swing through Alberta. Stay tuned….
More – via reader “Sammy”, who points to this Edmonton Sun column by Neil Waugh;
“We need to be a bit like Norway,” Dion scolded. Then he tore a strip off young guys heading for the oilsands.
“All these workers living too fast for the easy money in the north,” the prime minister-wannabe blasted as Liberal-appointed senators Tommy Banks and Grant Mitchell looked on. “It’s not good for the economy.”
[…]
Then he outlined his plan to make oilsands developers toe the line, imposing what sounds like massive taxes by basing the fed’s capital cost allowance on how much process water they use and how much carbon dioxide goes up the stacks.
“You say to industry, and the oilsands industry especially, if you decrease the use of water you will have this capital cost allowance,” Dion warned. “If you don’t, you will not have it.” Same with greenhouse gas, he said.
Dion is also a big believer in the dubious carbon trading market – where companies buy and sell hot air to meet their government-imposed emissions targets. He predicted it will be “bigger than the wheat and coffee markets together.” He promised that Canadians will make “mega tonnes of money around the world”.
“It’s not at all a carbon tax,” Dion insisted, preferring to call his proposed revenue grab “environmental tax reform.” Dion rejected the next phase of Stephen Harper’s GST rollbacks. Instead, he prefers to bring in a wonkydoodle set of rebates based on the energy efficiency and greenhouse gas reduction of household appliances and automobiles.
As the battle against global warming was going on inside the cosy university meeting room the weather guy on the radio was reporting minus 23. Meanwhile, back in Quebec, Liberal Premier Jean Charest was announcing his sinister plan to commit environmental vandalism on a vast tract of northern wildland, reverse the flow of the Rupert River system and flood thousands of hectares of carbon absorbing forests at an alleged price tag of $5 billion.
All to produce 900 megawatts of power – which is about what a decent sized Alberta coal-fired plant kicks out. Strangely, the Liberal’s green PM-to-be didn’t say boo about that outrage.
I’ll bet that had them just eatin’ out of his hand.

Interesting. The link has been pulled from the Sun.
Hey Buffalo , was that a video ? I was there as well and have the “… I came in Alberta seven times and came in Edmonton five times ” classic sound bite on video ( digital camera ). If you have the ” Participaction ” moment on tape it is truly gold , and needs to be shared .
Maybe this is just what the Librano party really needs to seal the coffin up good and tight. Why haven’t we seen any polls lately on where the Liberals are? I suspect they are tanking with this incomprehensible moron at the helm. Where’s Cherniak? I want to hear what he thinks. LMAO
I’m worried about Dion’s scary transparent agenda.
Just imagine what those scumbag Libranos have in store for us that they’re not telling us about. I am damn sure they have a secret agenda.
Cherniak!! Hey Cherniak. Are you there? Why don’t you tell us about the secret agenda? Are you in on the secret agenda? or are you one of the paeons? I’m tired.
Citizen Dion’s Coffin*, Paul Coffin.
Buffalo Bean quotes Ad$cam Dion: “We need to recreate the Group Action…”

What the Hell did he Say?
I noticed Rutherford kept trying to get in a word but Dion Kept rambling about how a credit will clean the air.Uhhhhhh

I can’t help seeing Dion as a puppet being dangled at the end of strings held by Pierre Elliott Trudeau on Cloud Nine or maybe Cloud Cukoo Land, and closer to earth, passing through Jean da Crouton’s hands.
Two control freaks controlling another control freak.
Warning to all Canadians: Run as fast as you can in the opposite direction!!!!
The Calgary Herald’s Friday paper had a number of links on Dion’s various meetings, including one audio clip, on the same page as the blogging link.

In this audio, Dion directs them to what The Pembina Institute says needs to be done. When pressed on whether the technology is ready yet to deal make emission targets doable, Dion answered that wind power, carbon credit buying will be two things called for in the interim.
Dion wasn’t specific on where in that list of Pembina articles one should start.
Read Rick Bell in todays Calgary Sun. Seems every columnist and talking head is sending the message; Dions trip was not to win over Alberta, but an effort to tell Que and the 416 idiots that he will ruin Alberta, take all their money and give it to them. Wont work this time. Living the fast life on easy money-what a stupid statement. But better the fast life and easy money for albertans than for quebec and the 416 crowd.
Stop all transfer pymts NOW. Cheers for Stelmach, not having his photo taken with that idiot.
missing link be damned, here’s the first part of the editorial:

Grit and bear it
Liberal boss’s fiscal plan for Alberta won’t work
By NEIL WAUGH
Liberal Leader Stephane Dion was in town splitting hairs, attaching labels and trying to explain where he’s coming from. It didn’t work.
Especially when he blurted “I’m a Liberal, not a socialist.
“The government will not decide everything,” he insisted. That’s if central Canadians foolishly decide to vote the Liberals back into power.
A Stephane Dion coronation will not happen anytime soon in Alberta. No fear of that. Especially after some of the excellent ideas the Quebecer shared with the students at Faculte St. Jean yesterday.
I don’t know what your idea of “easy money” is. But it sure isn’t living in camp and freezing your butt at 40 below building oilsands plants. But Tommy and Grant sure know what a soft touch looks like.
Then Dion went on to explain his plan to link “the daily life of citizens and the big challenge of the planet.”
He talked about “new regulations for the industry” – which means Alberta hydrocarbon- based industrial heartland. “It will be fair, it will be demanding, but we will be responsible,” he insisted. “It will not be a way to pull the money out of Alberta.”
Then he outlined his plan to make oilsands developers toe the line, imposing what sounds like massive taxes by basing the fed’s capital cost allowance on how much process water they use and how much carbon dioxide goes up the stacks.
mass attack on Alberta
tax grab.
royalty change— this is provincial
lower CO2 but no nukes
your lifestyle stinks because you work for a living.
Dion did everthing but take a dump on Stelmachs desk.He was here on a vote grab for Quebec -outlining the new transfer payment scheme.
Following on STD – I’m not so sure he needs a middle name, simply a double barrelled name now that he is married to the Cretin. So how about StephJean Cretin-Dion?
Wonder if dions stupidity during his 2 days in Alberta will have an effect on Taft and his alberta liberals. The good thing about all this is that we are well prepared for his attack on Alberta to win in quebec. But, with the blogs, he wont get away with it without a fight. Divide and conquer will not work this time. I want quebec and Toronto to get out of Canada. If the Bloc win in Quebec, you will not see western support for them to stay in Canada like the last referendum. Boy, were we wrong. Many of us will go to quebec to help them pack.
Well it was about time we finally heard a Quebecer admit that Alberta is the “cash cow”. No he won’t kill it he will just milk it til it is dry. Stelmach just won my vote in the next Alberta election, if just to keep as many Alberta Lieberals out of power as possible. My husbands career has been the oil industry and I never noticed he was making any easy money. He has spent as much as 4 months away from his family at a time to make that “easy money”. I will be writing to Mr. Dion and also sending e-mails to Grant Mitchell and Tommy Banks. Please do the same.
The ‘easy money’ line should bring up the question: Would you rather have them stay in the east and get the ‘other easy money’…welfare/EI?
That statement of his was a condemnation of the work ethic…and he says he is not a socialist?
Conservative majority!…soon!
Maybe instead of Dionky looking at the oilsands in Alberta, he should start looking at DaFasco Steel and all the steel mills spewing their contaminents in Hamilton, Ontario area – they must be #1 polluter in Ontario
Next there will be a moratorium on cutting trees in BC.
“Da pipple of BeeCee ‘ave too manny treez and must kept dem fur sustanuble ZeOhtwo recollection from de grin’ouse renegades from Alburda” Steff Dion.”from now on the treez will be sold true da Canadien Whit bard”
Read Ayn Rand’s “Atlas Shrugged” when the government puts the boots to the world.
Has anyone seen any other MSM coverage of the “easy money” comment?
Hey Joanne,I was wondering same thing..wonder why Cherniak hasn’t had some “cover dion’s a**” excuse on his blog?Too busy slagging ex-Libs,now that they’ve seen the light.
“STD”‘s easy to fix:
Stephane The Dolt
Stephane The Dummy
Stephane The Dreadful
But as for the cure?
Well, that’s easy too: DON’T VOTE LIBERAL.
And the liberal voters at the convention, and the msm thought dions lack of english would not be a problem. From now on I will say I am tri-lingual. ASL, english and dionspeak.
Just to clarify..the mention in my previous comment about EI was not an attack on those who collect EI. We live in Northern Ontario and have watched Fed funding for municipal infrastructure dwindle. Spinoff: contruction workers on EI.(my husband included) Adding salt to the wounds…worn out roads wrecking out old jalopy and $$$ to Lib special interests. We were tempted to head west but for family reasons have survived here.
Good news: Federal $ for our municipalities announced this week…only took the CPC a few months!
The hard working Canadians east and west will remember Dion’s attack on the work ethic.
“We need to be a bit like Norway,” Dion scolded.
This French citizen twit knows nothing. Norway has invested in clean coal technology and retrofitted their plants rather than closing them.
And the twit wants wind power.
Germany invested billions in wind farms that don’t work. It’s a disaster. A windmill has to operate at 30% to become efficient. There’s are operating at 18% tops. Windmills obviously don’t work when there’s too little wind. They also don’t work when there’s too much wind. On top of that anybody living in the vicinity is forced to move because of a low vibrating hum.
Ca;2 said: “I view Canada as a temporary aberration in the march of history.”
Well PET beat ya to it Buddy:
“I think we have to realize that Canada is not immortal” (PET after the western round table talks on the constitution)
😉 VIVE L’ALBERTA LIBRE!!
Cal2. I’ve always said that Atlas Shrugged should be required reading before you are allowed to vote. Ok, I haven’t always said that. That along with Animal Farm are a couple of instructional books that aptly outline the direction the Liberals want to take Canada.
Anyone who works for an oil & gas company knows that what you earn, you broke your back earning it! oil companies do not give money away for nothing. If it isn’t working conditions, its the hours of work you put in to earn that BIG paycheck. easy money, I don’t think so. easy money = a politician’s paycheck and pension.
