30 Replies to “Reporting 2006”

  1. I was shocked I tell yeah. When I didnt see one CBC commentator.
If we do win this war . I know I will be putting a lot of my money into rope stocks. So many traitors, so little oversite.

  2. MEDIA AUDIT WEBSITES, a huge Growth-Industry. The amount of material out there is phenominal.
WARNING: When the MSM’s “reporting” scam eventually and inevitably collapses, you will be out of work…. But you will have lotsa time to count your $Billions. Like the two You-Tubers !!

  3. Speaking of reporting –
Whatever happened to Christina Lawand … ? She just disappeared from the airwaves. Fired? Anyone know for sure …?
    Curious George
    Toronto

  4. The reason there is no CBC commentator nominated is because they would have to nominate all of them for everything said during 2007. Who would win the Most Biased nomination.

  5. Perhaps Lorrie Goldstein will be the journalist to blow the whistle on the Media.
Adscan whistle-blowing pales in comparison to the Canadian Pravda-like scam.
Speaking of whistles, Ottawa MP Pierre Poilievre calls Dion’s leadership “loans” of $430,000 interesting. Will he pay them back ? Can he ?? If not is there a loan-forgiver in Canada ? In France ? At the UN ?

  6. Bleh. These reporting websites are a dime a dozen. For every website such as this critiquing left leaning media, I can find an equal amount finding errors in right leaning rags such as the National Post. I dont see the point of these awards. They re so tainted by political biases that they fail to see the garbage in the media they themselves trust.

  7. “For every website such as this critiquing left leaning media, I can find an equal amount finding errors in right leaning rags such as the National Post.”
Really? I’d like to see that. Show me these sites that find “errors”, actual errors and not what the site perceives as errors.
The National Post is a right wing rag? You’ll have to let Copps know.

  8. I was thinking more along the lines of mediamatters.org, though the jab at the NP was referring to that newspapers recent story about jews in Iran. Something about yellow patches.
Anywho, I dont see why people keep complaining about left wing biases when the largest news chain in this country is CanWest. The chairman of CanWest was Harper’s chief of transition, so no points for figuring out where it lies on the political spectrum.
The only reason G&M dominates is because, regardless of its political biases, it is an excellent read, if nothing else. The qualtitative difference between G&M and the rest is pretty damn significant. National Post commentators are pretty good at whining, but in terms of readibility – ie quality of writing, they re really not on par with G&M. And then theres those other wonderful papers- the Suns – Toronto, Calgary, you name it. Even if you ignore political biases, those are of remarkably poor quality with regard to, well, being readable.

  9. “The only reason G&M dominates is because, regardless of its political biases, it is an excellent read, if nothing else.”
We’ll have to agree to disagree on that. I’m not looking for an “excellent read”, facts are what I care about.

  10. ” G&M dominates is because, regardless of its political biases, it is an excellent read” Now that speaks volumes. somehow I think the chair of CanWest is more interested in the NP making money than putting a political spin on anything.
We are still waiting for those websites that are finding errors in rightwing media, BTW.

  11. Goldstein has been calling the media for awhile. He even has Greg Weston pegged. (another story)
I wonder what kind of reception Goldstein would get if he walked in on a PPG lunch. He’s definitely not ‘one of them’ i’ve asked before: Where is the “media accountability board’?
If you see a nures behave unprofessionally you reort to the “College of Nurses” and they will investigate. Many professionals have such a system. Journalist/reporters …???
Maybe Christina Lawand could fill us in…

  12. national free daycare is godam communistic plain and simple.
its the indoctrination pathology begun at the earliest age.
when our daughter was born, I gave up my full time job to work part time since my wife had just graduated and had greater income potential.
then we moved away when I got a fantastic job offer based on my work ethic, and then my wife stayed home until about a year before the little one entered the public school system. I was working shifts and was able to stay home most of the day about half the time.
when our daughter got to university she had earned a scholarship so it all paid for itself.
universal day care ISNT the only measure but its one of the costliest and not just in terms of dollars. I will NOT have a complete stranger raising my kid.

  13. We can criticize the pens’ all we want but ultimately it is the media owners that hire them. The media owners that award scholarships to the communist institutes that train them and the media owners that dictate editorial policy.
    Blame them.

  14. Want to compare a couple of articles?
Time Magazine: PMSH as man of the year.
Toronto Star ed: Harper Fails to Impress

  15. To all those easterners who think Alberta is full of rednecks, don’t believe in kyoto etc, please note that is was a builder in Lethbridge, AB, who won the green award (don’t recall the name)for the most environmentally friendly home in Canada. Like I always tell you, Albertans act, liberals talk.

  16. “We are still waiting for those websites that are finding errors in rightwing media, BTW.”
    mediamatters.org

  17. mediamatters.org: “Diane Sawyer and Robin Roberts hosted conservative talk-show host Glenn Beck for the second time in a month to discuss issues related to religion, despite his numerous controversial remarks about Islam.”
Controversial remarks: “they are trying to kill us”.
What’s mediamatters trying to say; this should not be talked about?
We are at war but we shouldn’t say so?
Who is being caught in terrorist plots; Harry Potter?

  18. some tasty pap from CBCpravda- you would have to get Sacha Trudeau to write about Castro to get more sappy than this.
Douglas, a trailblazing socialist committed to social reform, drew the interest of RCMP security officers through his longstanding links with left-wing causes, the burgeoning peace movement and assorted Communist party members.

one last sentence was left out – that eventually the health care system bankrupted the Canadian economy and the communists overthrew democracy by rotting the system from inside.

  19. cal2: Speaking of public health, seen any Do-Do birds lately?
Public Health Care System is slowly becoming a sham. Doctors are now joining forces and charging fees for services like telephone advice and prescription renewals, filling out forms for patients etc.
IT’S THE DREADED TWO TIER HEALTH CARE! It’s here!
Any fool can see it isn’t working to the advantage of optimum health care for Canadians.

  20. According to g&m, Trudeau is not popular in Que and should run in Toronto. Sorry, but that name on any ballot in Canada will turn Western Cdns off more than anything. The thought of another Trudeau in the HofC would bring up all the dads past mistakes. And, remember dithers is an example of sons following fathers.

  21. Public Health Care System is slowly becoming a sham.

Meanwhile, back at Watmart, you can get medical tests such as a throat swab for US $40, and generic drugs for $4 for a months supply. With a positive result of the swab, they will check your medical records to ensure the subscription their medical professional gives you is not on your allergy list.
And no 84 year old senior is turned away.
    Never in Canader; you say?

  22. As usual the off topic trolls won’t contain their observations to the subject at hand……….
    Goldstein’s piece is really good!
As an observer throughout this past year ( and well before ) I’ve witnessed the degeneration of substance and credibility across the entire spectrum of news media. From the gatherers and disseminators such as AP, CP and Reuters to the end link marketers of dead trees and bird cage lining to the video and voice noise generators….there have been far too many instances of self serving, arrogant, incompetent and outright dishonest activity to mention in a mere essay or blog posting.
Credit is due to many independent researchers and blog writers who have exposed so much of the corrupt media.
Perhaps one day the dinosaurs of information business will grow up enough to understand that they can be replaced.

  23. “Old Hack” attacks the right wing bias of some publications, apparently because he hopes it will distract attention away from the dozens of (legitimate) accusations of left wing bias in the news.
Considering that the term “hack” is a self deprecating nickname given to journalists by JOURNALISTS THEMSELVES, this leads me to believe old hack is an old journalist.
I’ve always said the only people who defend the news media are Liberals and media types themselves. Once again I have recieved confirmation that my assumptions are correct.
