If it moos, tax it.
If this doesn’t result in a ruling against the CBC by their Ombudsman, then his position is the sham it appears to be.
It’s amazing how often the punditry still mentions American journalism’s crazy old aunt in the attic approvingly. (Of course, they still publish Gwynn Dyer and Robert Fisk, too!)
Who killed Fidel?
From July 8;

  1. ‘If it moos–‘ more proof that the socialists just don’t get it. I take it this means that the government will now go into the slaughterhouse business? What don’t they understand about free enterprise and having the economic climate to suport it? Just what the farmers need–another tax to bring them to their knees. Will the government then go into cattle raising because there are not enough farmers? Alice in Wonderland revisited?

  2. Tax Cow: Once Mcguinty gets ahold of that wing ding idea of Doers he will most likely take it a step further..
    Tax every chicken, goose, sheep, horse, cat, dog, kittens, chicks, calfs, folds, pups & even the fish in the pond out back!!!!
    Do you think that they have finaly run out of lame tax ways to screw the farmer.

  3. What was written in that thread stands as one example of the change in the Iraqi way of thinking since the day we got rid of the dictator and shows that logic and facts are gaining more ground at the expense of emotions and conspiracy theories.

  5. Manitoba Cattle Enhancement Council, is that for bulls that have a lack of self-confidence and self-esteem issues? This tax is coming to you from the same people who think that taxing business on the number of employees (payroll tax) will encourage business investment in the province. Way to go Gary.

    Fontaine made the $2-billion lump-sum settlement a centrepiece of his campaign. He rode that triumph to a decisive victory Wednesday, winning another three-year term. But Fontaine was mum when repeatedly asked through his staff to talk about Kathleen Mahoney, a University of Calgary human rights lawyer, AFN negotiator and adviser.
    Fontaine and Mahoney have been a couple, sharing homes and vacations, for much of the last decade. Their personal connection isn’t much of a secret in native and legal circles, but is less widely known outside them

  12. The posts on Iraq The Model which are supportive of Israel are unbelievable- so much so I can only hope they are truly real and not fabricated.
    These posts -from people obviously influenced by the horror of terror regardless of the alleged validity of its practitioners- stand as a testament to the folly of killing innocent people to support a cause- in this case an evil one.
    These posters are reacting exactly as one would expect intelligent people to react to the campaign of al Qaeda to defeat the democratic ideal in Iraq by killing thousands of innocents. These posters are indeed infinitely bright than your average NYT writer or reader (or liberal of any nationality).

  13. Couple’s wedding clashes with Muslim fun day
    Via Neale News and The Telegraph.
    A couple’s plans for a £5,000 wedding at Alton Towers were thrown into confusion yesterday after it emerged that the theme park had double booked them with a fun day for 20,000 Muslims.
    Amanda Morris, 30, and her fiance, Scott Lee, 31, have been told that if they go ahead with the ceremony they will not be allowed to go on celebratory rides together.
    Furthermore, Miss Morris and her female guests will have to cover up to be in line with guests of Islamic Leisure wearing hijabs.

    Believing that they and their own guests had the complex almost to themselves, Islamic Leisure drew up a list of requirements.
    These included the provision of prayer areas and bans on music, alcohol and gambling. In the Muslim tradition, women would also need to cover their bodies, as well as going on rides separately to their menfolk.
    Sure sounds like a Fun Day to me. How come I never get invited to these things?

    As do millions of Syrians and Iranians. And you know what? Millions of Arabs all over the Middle East do too. Give them a chance to fight for their freedom, as we did with the Georgians. The longer we dither, the more likely it becomes that we will sadly and unnecessarily find ourselves in a military confrontation of some sort, with all the terrible consequences that entails.
    Faster, please. Your options are narrowing. You cannot escape the mullahs. You must either defeat them or submit to their terrible vision. There is no other way.

    Who Killed the Electric Car ?– Film Director
    No gas, no oil, no tune-ups, no problems. It’s the story of the EV-1, General Motor’s ill-fated electric car.The EV-1 cruised the California roads in 1990, when 800 of the cars were leased to customers eager to drive a zero-emission automobile.
    But despite rave reviews from the few who drove it, GM shut down the production line in 2003 and recalled every single one of them. Most of the fleet was shredded, crushing consumers’ hopes that the electric car was here to stay.
    ========= TG
    You could only lease the car, never buy it.. Every last car was re-claimed by GM.. Drivers loved it, yet GM claimed only 800 were in use and demand was too low to warrant production. I think they saw it would eclipse all other auto products and snuffed it out before it could be discovered by the public
    ========= TG.
    One of its fans was filmmaker Chris Paine, who was once a proud driver of an EV-1. And now, the story of why General Motors decided to short-circuit the production of the electric car is what powers his documentary, appropriately titled, Who Killed the Electric Car? We reached Chris Paine by telephone in Los Angeles, California.
    GM Response
    While there may be plenty of blame to go around in Chris Paine’s documentary, in the end, it was General Motors’s decision to discontinue production of the EV-1 electric car.
    To find out why, we contacted Dave Barthmuss. He’s the manager for public policy, environment and energy for General Motors North America, and he was also in California.

    Another Marriage Victory: Appeals Court Upholds Nebraska Marriage Amendment
    Liberty Counsel e-mail update | 7/14/06
    Lincoln, NE – A federal appeals court has reversed a ruling that stuck down Nebraska’s same-sex marriage ban. U.S. District Judge Joseph Bataillon ruled last year that the measure was too broad and deprived homosexuals of participation in the political process. The Eighth Circuit Court of Appeals today reversed that ruling. Nebraska voters approved the amendment by 70% in 2000. The Court said the amendment “and other laws limiting the state-recognized institution of marriage to heterosexual couples are rationally related to legitimate state interests and therefore do not violate the Constitution of the United States.” Liberty Counsel filed a brief in the case, arguing in favor of the amendment.
    At the time of its passage, the Nebraska marriage amendment was the broadest in the country. The amendment not only states that marriage is the union of one man and one woman, but it also prohibits same-sex marriage arrangements under another name. It thus prohibits same-sex civil unions and domestic partnerships. Same-sex marriage advocates targeted Nebraska in hopes of striking down the state marriage amendment under the U.S. Constitution.
    Today’s defeat is a major blow to the same-sex marriage movement because if the broadest kind of amendment is upheld, as it was today, then the more narrow amendments can also be upheld.
    In yet another victory for marriage, yesterday a judge in Connecticut denied the request of eight same-sex couples to marry. That state already allows civil unions for same-sex couples. The couples plan to appeal, saying they are not satisfied with civil unions.
    Also today, rejecting a challenge by the ACLU, the Tennessee Supreme Court ruled that voters in November will be allowed to consider a constitutional amendment to ban same-sex marriage.
