  1. Kate, Thank you for the great writing on the roundtable. You voice has spoke out like the Conservatives campaign. Clean, Crisp and Clear.
    Good job!

  2. “as Belinda Stronach stood alongside staring stoicly into the oncoming headlights…”
What a Steyn-class column! What a writer you are!

  3. wonderful stuff Kate.
too bad its hidden behind the CBCPravda attempt to make it look like Harper and Duceppe are in kahouts.
CBC is taxpayer paid propaganda of the lowest and yet most expensive form.
billions and billions spent on their crap.

  4. just had another look through the CBCpravda site.
    ALL Quebec, all anti- Harper.
Not a mention of the Martin meltdown.
    They are more than disgusting.

  5. You have done a hell of a job Kate. A lot of great women come from Sask, wife has the rolling pin, gotta be carful. Whatever the outcome I just hope people keep in perspactive tomorrow the fact that these thieves have stolen everyones money and if they arn’t run out of town for that reason alone then next time your house is robbed give the thief a little more. This bunch has lived off Mulroneys policies the same as Clinton lived off Reagans and have taken all the credit and like the Clinton bunch they are focused on their crotches. As if Harper cares what Svend does or what some pregnant woman does, he is properly focused on economics and trade, things that make a difference monetarily in our lives. Know what they call Svend in a Jewelery store ( Qu–r and present danger) Thanks again Kate

  6. To think the CBC would publish this gives hope to
the many of us who have given up on them.
I can only pray that the elitist jerks in my Province of Ontario, who regularly get their direction from this government controlled media outlet, read it, and weep.
Great job, Kate. Hopefully by this time on Tuesday you will be blogging about something else more worthwhile. Like the swearing in of a new
    CPC majority government.
Prime Minister Harper- It has a nice ring to it.

  7. I actually called Michael Moore a “fat socialist weasel” on the CBC…
I still can’t believe I got away with that.

Yeah, I’m still all warm & fuzzy inside over that one!
    perfect!

  9. re: John, George, Ringo, and… Paul
    How does it feeeeeeeeellllllll
    To be on your own
    With no direction home
    Like a complete unknown
    Like a rolling stone?

  10. Kate, why does everything you talk about have to involve relations to the U.S.? A “Howard Dean scream” come-on – we are our own democracy. It’s pretty obvious you watch too much TV.

  11. Thank you, Kate. If Martins’ Liberals form the next government, even a minority, then we will look to bright young persons like you to articulate a Western Separatist agenda.
I hope it doesn’t happen, but am very nervous right now due to the inundation of all MSM with anti-Harper propaganda.
I keep thinking of Goebbels'” a lie repeated often enough becomes the truth.” Martin is certainly the master propagandist (liar).

  12. Why do you even go on the CBC? Aren’t they the enemy? Next you’ll be writing for Pravda. Traitor!

  13. AlbertaBob – if you were paying attention, the Liberals spent half their war chest campaigning against George Bush.
Therefore, comparisons to Democrat moonbats is entirely appropriate.

  14. One of the best pieces of journalism–and I do mean journalism–I’ve seen on the campaign. Up there with Coyne and leaving Wells eating dust.

  15. Thanks for the great post Kate…
I’m sure there is a “story”, in there somewhere, of your experiences with the Roundtable posts on CBC.ca
    we wait in anticipation…..

  16. OK Paul we got it, you are a fine upstanding Catholic who will enlist Henry Morgentaler to help your campaign; but Stephen Harper the guy who says “God Bless Canada” at the end of his speeches is the ANTI-CHRIST.
    Yep, no contradictions there.
OK let loose the lions of justice, mercy and honour at the ballot box.
    Voter LIONS on the prowl.

  17. The Power of the Kate strikes again!
Now the Liberal.ca site is all about their brilliant past and their outstanding policies.

  18. Bingo Kate!
HELP! I decided way back to neither watch nor listen to Canadian MSM throughout the entire election campaign. It seems to have worked along the lines of a stock going up if I don’t buy it and vice versa. SO: Do I watch Monday night or not?
Will a new meaning of Martinized enter the language?

  19. Great post Kate. No beer and pop corn for me tomorrow night. I’m splurging for the good stuff on a special occasion like this…RUM & COKE.

  20. Sure – The lieberals spent their money bashing Dubya. But, let’s be honest, the new Conservatives aren’t too much different than the democrats on a policy by policy basis. Aren’t we being a bit hypocritical?

  21. KATE: Wow! Impressive roundtable post. You have an amazing way with words and tell it exactly like it needs to be told. Good job!

  22. Am I the only one that feels bittersweet? Sure, the Conservatives will win – but they aren’t the same people we supported for all those years. Will things really be that different? We won – but only by changing our foundation and having the “other guys” break their leg.

  23. “In Anne McLellan’s Edmonton Centre riding we learned that social housing problems are so severe that there are hundreds of registered voters living in truck stops, mailbox stores and self-storage bays, as well as in non-existent buildings at non-existent addresses.”
ROTFLMAO Kate you have to send some of these to air farce.

  24. Good job Kate–am almost sorry the election is over–
BTW–isn’t Morgentaler a ‘private clinic’ abortionist? How can this be in Canada–the land of private healthcare?

  25. Re: CBC story on Haper and Quebec.
I’m not convinced that a story on Duceppe being critical of Harper is necessarily a bad thing for the Conservatives. The CBC hasn’t been entirely fair, but there’s been a lot of campaign coverage that I can’t really complain about.
Friday, driving home from work, I heard CBC radio introduce a section where students from York University evaluate the Liberal and Conservative education platforms. Fantastic. Students. From Toronto. Discussing education policy. On the CBC. I can only guess where this is going.
Then said student comes on the radio and articulately defends the vaule of market forces in setting the cost of education and the distorting effect of excessive subsidies. Or something like that.
They’re already preparing for new management.

  26. Grading the Contributors.
    Kate A++ Nails it down.
Liam B Has the facts, doesn’t always get them in context.
Marcie C Trys hard, but we’ve heard it all before in Saskatchewan.
    Alan D Short of content.
Glyn F In over his head.

  27. Ok, I’ll happily kiss ass, too.
I doubt if I could’ve written it better than Kate has.
Illuminating the contradictions of Liberals. It must be done, and do it Kate will, and so well.
“Fat socialist weasel”. Michael Moore. Yep.
“Fat socialist weasel”. Paul Martin. Yep also.
    In Canada.
    Ain’t made up, eh?
    Choose your Canada.

  28. Hi Kate!
What a fantastic post! Witty, articulate and informative! Although it’s getting repetitive, you’re a fantastic writer! (But you can never get enough compliments)
This time tomorrow I’ll be drinking an ice cold Keith’s and eating popcorn for the victory celebration!
    Cheers
    Sharon

  29. I’ll add my congratulations for a great article.
Shouldn’t Paul and Maude and Buzz be condemning “outside interference”??
Listened to some of Peter Warren’s show on Corus today. He had a quick straw poll at the end.

  30. Kate:
Once again, in very suscinct (hope I spelled that right) fashion you have laid out what the whole Liberal campaign was all about. What a bunch of sad-sack loosers on their way to the trash heap of Canadian electoral history. They are a tired lot that need to rest for a decade. Your blog is the best. Good work!
    Bob
p.s. Sure liked your comment on the looser Michael Moorer.

  31. Another excellent post Kate. Well written and damn funny.
Is it just me or does it feel like Christmas Eve? I sure hope I get what I want.

  32. To Peter Leftcoaster
Will the new meaning of Martinized be entered into the language?
No I like the old one “taken to the cleaner”

  33. Beautiful summary, Kate. Probably my favorite entry by far. I only have one question. How in the hell can you stomach the Roundtable company you keep?
With the exception of Liam, you are head and shoulders above them in intelligence, knowledge of the facts and wit.

  34. CBCpravda has pulled the blatantly Liberal headline that looked like Harper was offering Duceppe a cabinet post.
Can anyone track the writers on these stories. ==
he should be kicking horseturds down the road along with Peter Pansbridge ( head of fantasy journalism) and Kneel MacDonald (the liberal toady).

  35. That is a brilliant summary Kate. Your writing has been consistently at a level far above the other bloggers, although a few did make some good observations.
The next 24 hours will tell the tale, although I am truly apprehensive as to the thought process of the Ontario voter (including my mother). I hope I am wrong but my gut says the election will still be over before it gets to the Manitoba border.
Stephen Harper and the CPC certainly ran a good campaign which is more than I can say about anyone else.
    Per ardua ad astra, eh

  36. Best post of all Kate, my wife enjoyed it too.
It now appears that Canada has a chance to return eventually to the country that we all remember with fondness, pre-Trudeaupia.
Policy-wise, we have the Conservatives looking like the Liberals, Liberals acting like the NDP which, in turn, is getting ever closer to the Communists–an ideology the free world has fought against most of our lives. So what does this mean?
IMHO, I think that Layton has missed the boat entirely by not taking the socialist (labourite) “Tony Blair” route. He cannot get under his hat, the notion that companies, large and small, provide the employment for his “working-class man and woman”–a notion that Tony Blair understood perfectly. Politically, the Liberals would then have no ideological slot to move into. Somebody should buy Layton a hat.
I remember, years ago, deer hunting in Temagami, Ontario, with a friend and his brother-in-law. We had hunted close to the local dump, eventually coming out into the village of Temagami–to our surprise, I might say. We walked down the main thoroughfare, rifles in hand, walked into the local bar, checked our firearms with the bartender, and sat down for couple of beers. Reversing the order when we left. Law abiding citizens if ever I saw.
The memory of the above paragraph is not remembered for the audacity of the occasion but for the person who served us our drinks. The waiter was a descendent of Grey Owl (Archie Belaney), often described as Canada’s first conservationist–which may not be quite true, as it was his Mattawa native better half, Anahareo, who was instrumental in his right thinking. Obviously a Conservative.
So–we see that Grey Owl was a Conservative and that’s good enough for me.
    Stand Up For Canada.
    God Bless Canada, Colin Newland

  37. Bless you, Kate – you have raised the level of political discourse stratospheric. You are a true Canadian and an inspiration. Long may you live and work.
    Henry

  38. “Cry Havoc , and let slip the dogs of war”
into the home stretch now. by this time tomorrow PMPM will be a footnote to history. the period on the long sentence of Trudeaupia we have all suffered under.
