Martin And Friends

Ezra Levant;

I just received a note that Paul Martin went “bonkers” at a speech in Brampton today: “hoarse, shouting, chanting Belinda Stronach’s name, shouting back and forth with some wacko supporter in the audience.”

(I can’t run video on this computer, but I believe Toronto CHUM station Pulse24 has some video – don’t know if it includes the best parts. )
Oh, and while you’re at the Shotgun, here’s a nice juicy one – they’ve gotten hold of Alphonso Gagliano’s criminal record check. A teaser;

Commissioner Norman Inkster suggests that Gagliano be fingerprinted to prove or disprove the worst of his findings.

  1. I saw what you are talking about tonight on CPAC. It was sad. The best part was the visible regret on Belinda’s face. I liked PMPM at onetime, but the real Paul Martin is not a nice fellow at all.

  2. Martin at Wikipedia: down he goes… glug, glug, glug… Martin, the ancient mariner who shot the albatross, aka Jean Chretien; Martin is going down with the albatross around his neck. >>
The Liberal Party of Canada (French: Parti libral du Canada) is Canada’s principal leftist political party. In the picture (right) we see Liberal candidates abandoning ship, after disgraced Captain Paul Martin ran it into an iceberg. >>>

  3. Yup…I saw old Paulie rant and rave on CPAC as well, with Bleinda standing at his side and a terrified look on her face.
When he brought up, that Harper was unfit to be Prime Minister cause he had never left the contenital North America, CTV pointed out tonight, that Martin has a short memory. Stephen was on no less then three over sea trips in the same plane as PMPM in the last six months.
Anybody that has that bad a memory shouldn’t be running to be PM.

  4. Note for Belinda:
Now is not to ponder “WHY”
Now is just to “Do” or “Die”…
BAIL, Belinda, and I do mean NOW!!!

  5. Don’t you just want Monday to come so we can get this over?! Was it a good move or not for Harper to shun the media? Jack! says, “Hey, look, I’m available for media interviews! Ask me, ask me.” Go home, Jack!

  6. I challenge anyone to find the word “Liberal” or a Liberal Party symbol on the homepage of Belinda’s website. You’ll see “cabinet minister”, but Liberal?
    Not likely.
    Dippers, here she comes!

  7. Talk about desperation
Martin got Harper’s never been out of the country thing from the gentleman who was shouting at him at the Brampton rally.
So our prime minister is now getting his campaign talking points from random strangers in a crowd shouting uninformed opinions about Harper. I missed the episode of the West Wing where they did that one.

  8. Plato: “Rosebud” ROFL at that one! Great shot.
As psycho as Dithers is acting now, and as enjoyable as it is to watch him self-detonate, here are some future clips that will be vastly more satisfying:
    1. His concession speech on Monday night
    2. Footage of Harper moving into 24 Sussex
    3. Paul Martin, as leader of the Opposition, directing his first question to “The Prime Minister of Canada”.
COUNTDOWN TO LIBERATION: 2 more days !!

  9. I sure hope Belinda S. goes down to defeat on Monday in a whitewash like the Leafs did tonight against the Senators.
Her website just underscores that she is all about herself and not her constituents or Party. Wonder how she enjoyed Hargrove’s comments and the cost they will have on the family auto parts business!

  10. “The Religious Right is the opiate of the masses.”
    — Paul Martin
“Large amounts of polyester in Mr. Harper’s shirts make him a fire hazard on Parliament Hill.”

    — Paul Martin.

  11. I know that this has been said before, but I would love to see what Belinda would do if she won (not that I want to see a Lib seat – just want to see her on the other side of the floor).
“Excuse me – I have to go to the ladies room – for about 4 years…”

  12. I was watching CTV Newsnet for their repeat of their newscast looking to see this clip of Martin having a breakdown. Instead the only clip of anyone doing any shouting was a Conservative organizer (I think) being chewed out by a woman yelling “Don’t you touch me” (not exactly sure what happened, they never explained that part)
If it had been Harper doing something like having a nervous breakdown, you bet it would be front page news. I hope conservatives get their majority flying in the face of the liberal biased media in this country.

  13. Wonder if anyone is watching the hill the last few days, imagine mobil shred has moved in the portables and running 24 hours. Dont think because of the polls this is over, these evil intolerant shills will stop at nothing. There will be attempts at ballot stuffing and God (oh thats scary to a Liberal) knows what else. Mo is sitting in a 5 star in china right now with a little harper doll and a big pin, if that dosn’t work by monday night the Paulie dolly comes out.

  14. Why won’t Paul Martin answer these questions?
At the beginning of this campaign Paul Martin was running on his record: promises made and promises kept. After a week or so Liberals stopped talking about Paul’s record because there were no accomplishments, promises made were shown not to have been kept, and the questions just kept coming and coming. But there were no answers.
Since you can’t have a campaign with no platform you re-invented the evil Mr Harper platform. You and Liberals have whined about Steven Harper, while still refusing to answer questions.
Mr Martin here are some questions. Liberals have refused to answer these. So we try again.
    a) Since we can set up systems to register voters and automobiles for much less than a billion dollars, where did all the gun registry money go? We’ve asked you and the Liberal Party to guarantee that this money did not end up in Liberal hands or in Liberal Party coffers, yet you refuse to provide this guarantee. Why? What are you hiding?
    b) Much was made about the Liberal party paying back $1.1 million of ill gotten gains that Judge Gomery identified. Since the Liberal party is broke where did you get the money? Why won’t you tell us?
    c) You’ve criticized Mr Harper for saying he’ll pull us out of Kyoto. Fair enough, but you refuse to tell us why CO2 emissions have risen every year since the Liberal government signed the treaty. Why have they?
    d) How are you going to reduce emissions to Kyoto target levels in two years?
    e) Why are you proposing to send massive amounts of taxpayer money to Putin’s Russia to buy CO2 credits? How will this reduce global CO2 emissions
    f) You said if the courts forced religions to perform gay marriages you’d use the not withstanding clause to stop them. Why have you abandoned your promise that religions would not have to perform gay marriages?
    g) You’ve always said there is no fiscal imbalance between the provinces and Ottawa. Yet you now say reducing the fiscal imbalance will cost many billions. Why do you say this? All the newspapers have pointed out this inconsistancy, yet you won’t answer it.
    h) You’ve said you will not introduce new taxes. Yet your web page says that new tax measures will be required to meet Kyoto commitments. Please explain how a tax measure is different from a tax.
    i) And where is the rest of the Adscam money?
Why won’t you come clean with Canadians Mr Martin?
Win or lose Mr Martin we will get the answers Mr Martin. The questions are not going to go away.

  15. Martin’s breakdown started in PEI on Friday morning when he in fact, fundamentally, accused Conservative ‘social conservatives’ of having an agenda to ban abortion. From this statement he went on to assert that he would protect Canada from these evil, extreme right wing Conservatives. He then finished his speech in the finest Deanian hyperbole saying Canadians would have NO CHOICE but to choose a LIBERAL government.
From that point on, the liberal media guttersnipes have been targeting EVERY social conservative in the Conservative Party. Hence, the targeting of social conservative candidates to the point of harrassment.
Conservative policy regarding abortion is transparent and clear. Millions upon millions of Canadians believe that abortion is murder, including many Conservatives. Also, millions upon millions of Canadians believe that abortion is perfectly fine, including many Conservatives. Therefore, in a democracy abortion is allowed.
So, legally abortion must be allowed. And also, moral objection must be allowed. These beliefs are equally protected by our Charter of Rights.
The same as with smoking, drinking alcohol, etc.
What befuddles me is, what the heck is Paul Martin babbling on about?

  16. 2 questions: 1) What is the big fascination the lefties have with abortion, er, I mean; “a woman’s right to choose”. Choose what? Why is that never said? I mean, if at some point in a woman’s life she feels she may need to have an abortion, fine. I don’t like it, if I was involved I would do my best to talk her out of an choosing abortion, but I just don’t understand why anyone would use whether or not someone is for or against abortion as the point to judge that person’s worth. And I just don’t understand why anyone would be proud of having an abortion. Any of you Dipper’s out there want to answer me I would appreciate it.
    2) Does anyone really believe that a Conservative minority would last more than six months? The left-wingers will bring done the Tories at the very first opportunity. I think they would do so at their perral.

  17. Query #1
When a person chooses abortion they choose to terminate a living HUMAN being. Therein lies the rub. They search it out and destroy it. The Judiciary has ruled that a womans physiological and emotional comfort holds sway over the life within. The Pandoras box has been loosed 30+ years now to the tune of millions upon millions upon millions of snuffed lives.
I think that it is wrong. Apparently, according to Paul Martin, I am an extreme right wing “baby killing mother” hater.
The problem with Martin’s thesis on abortion is that he infers that all Canadians must agree with abortion. This assertion contravenes the Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
    Query #2
Yes, if it doesn’t, given their campaign platform they would be re-elected with a majority.

  18. PMPMs concession speech on monday should look like
Commander Queeg on the Caine Mutiny.
    “wheres my strawberries??”
he lost it about 10 days ago when he looked and sounded like he had been drinking. now he is ranting as the bosses and the crew, including Maurice Strong mutiny openly.

  19. Come on guys, give Martin a break- he already sent his jacket back to Buzz (it was tainted with seperation),in the debates he said Tommy Douglas was his dad and he addressed a question for Harper to Layton, to-day said Harper had never been off the North American continent (but was with him on 3 recent overseas trips– the guys LOST IT give him a break. Being infatuated with looser Belinda dosn’t help his cause either.

  20. Excerpt:
    Dirty Money Really Smells
“It didn’t smell right,” a bank-clerk told prosecutor Gioacchino Natoli when he heard her in Montreal during a rogatory investigation, following the arrest of Caruana and Cuffaro. Natoli still recalls the event with surprise. (62) The dirty money the clan laundered through several Canadian banks really stank. “It smelled musty.” The cash was all in small bills of two, five or ten dollars, the typical denomination of drug transactions on the street.
The bulk of the evidence used by Falcone to indict the Cuntrera-Caruana clan in 1989 was gathered by one single policeman from Montreal. Sergeant Marc Bourque of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police was appointed to investigate the financial aspects after the seizure of 58 kilo of heroin in 1985.
One of the persons under arrest was Gerlando Caruana. When Bourque wanted to look into Caruana’s bank accounts, an employee said he would not find much there, but he should look at the accounts of Gerlando’s brother, Alfonso Caruana. (63) What Bourque found there would keep him busy for the next five years. He code-named his investigation Operation Pilgrim and a pilgrimage it proved to be. Bourque wandered through the international financial worl; he heard 300 witnesses in nine countries, his dossier amounted to 3,600 pages. Bourque laid bare the money laundering system of the clan in Montreal although whether he found all the money, nobody knows.
In one bank alone Bourque traced nearly 16 million US dollars laundered through accounts of Alfonso Caruana. Every week a couple of Sicilians entered the branch of the City & District Bank in the Montreal suburb Dollard-des-Ormeaux carrying hockey-bags filled with half a million in cash. The tellers spent a half day counting the small bills. The clan brought in its dirty dollars and walked out with clean bank drafts. Thirty-six million US dollars ended up in Swiss bank-accounts which were used to pay the Sicilian heroin suppliers. (64) The dollars the clan transported to Canada were enough to supply the Montreal money-exchange market with its weekly requisite of US cash. Bourque could trace some US$ 50 million laundered by the clan through 4 Canadian banks from 1978 until 1984.
When Bourque presented his case to the Justice Department he was told that it would be discarded: it was deemed too expensive and too intricate. His pioneering investigation never reached a Canadian court. The Department had neither the time nor the money to prosecute the case. The mere summoning of the witnesses alone would cost four or five million dollars.
“Money doesn’t just fall of the trees,” says Bourque. “There is no legitimate business in Montreal which generates half a million every week, except the drug business.” He is disgusted with the collaboration of Canadian banks. They earned some 4 to 5 percent on the transactions. The banks must have been aware of the shady backgrounds. After a while they all discreetly showed the Italians the door. But the clan always found a new financial institution to continue their affairs, carefully planning its steps. The bank branches it selected had Italian-born directors, no doubt more sensitive to the ways and means of the Mafia. Aldo Tucci, the director of the City & District branch, was completely integrated in the clan’s system. He set up front store companies and neglected his work for the bank. Eventually Tucci was fired.
The Italian judicature very much appreciated the results of Sergeant Bourque’s investigation, piecing it together with evidence they gathered during the Italian inquiry of the Pizza Connection. Bourque’s evidence was subsequently used in the trials against Cuntrera-Caruana family members.
    Bookkeeping is a Dangerous Business
The Italian community abroad is vulnerable to infiltration by its criminal countrymen. That doesn’t mean that every Sicilian is a mafioso. Far from it. The most arduous mafia-fighters, like Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino, are often Sicilian. Nevertheless, mafiosi use the Italian communities to hide in, especially when they are from the same village or region on Sicily.
On a visit to Siculiana the village on the south coast of Sicily where the Cuntreras and Caruanas were born an elderly villager who spent most of his working life in Germany told me the story of how he was approached by a Cuntrera to ‘lend’ him his son. The man who had known the family when they still lived in Siculiana, did not think it was a good idea. Why, he would not tell. Nevertheless, it was clear what we were talking about.
Siculiana once counted 12,000 inhabitants; now there are only 5,000 left. During the 1950s and 1960s the village emptied, the men moved to Belgium, Germany, England, Canada, Venezuela, Brazil. Most were merely trying to make a living; others went for more sinister reasons. Some, like Alfonso Gagliano, representative in the Canadian Federal Parliament for Montreal’s ‘Little Italy’ Saint Leonard, rose to prominent positions.
    Alfonso Gagliano
Siculiana-born Canadian politician Alfonso Gagliano finally became a minister, but did not manage to stay out of trouble
    Les affaires de Gagliano
The accountant Gagliano is a loyal supporter of Canada’s Prime-Minister Jean Chrtien. Gagliano organized the Liberal Party’s fund raising for the 1993 election-campaign. He was a candidate for a position in the new government of Mr Chrtien. The RCMP is asked to screen every probable future minister, and Mr Gagliano didn’t quite pass the test. (65) The Montreal daily La Presse revealed why: Gagliano’s accountancy firm kept the books of Agostino Cuntrera, a nephew of Pasquale Cuntrera and implicated in the murder of Paolo Violi, boss of the local Cotroni-family, in 1978. The murder was a sign that the Sicilian clan had taken over control in Montreal. Agostino Cuntrera was never convicted; he struck a deal with the Canadian Justice Department.
Asked about his relationship with Agostino Cuntrera, Gagliano said: “Mr Cuntrera is an acquaintance. We both come from Siculiana. I met him during a engagement in a church. He came to me in the 1970’s when he wanted me as his bookkeeper for his restaurant.” Gagliano et Cie kept Agostino Cuntrera as a client after his complicity in the Violi-murder was revealed. Agostino Cuntrera and Gagliano saw each other occasionally during marriages and activities of the Association de Siculiana, a cultural association founded by Mr Gagliano, who was its first president. Some years after Mr Gagliano’s chairmanship, Agostino Cuntrera became president of the association.
Nor was Agostino Cuntrera the only client of Gagliano. Another was Dima Messina, the financial aid of Montreal Mafia-boss Vito Rizzuto. An RCMP investigation showed that Messina laundered 22 million Canadian dollars for Rizzuto in 1986-88. Rizzuto’s Ferrari Testarossa (a 250,000 dollar Italian sports car) was registered under Messina’s name.
During the controlled delivery of 58 kilos of heroin to Montreal in 1985 the RCMP and British Customs were aware of the traffic and closely watched the transactions one of the traffickers, Filippo Vaccarello, and an unidentified person, were observed entering the office of Mr Gagliano before the heroin arrived. After leaving the office Vaccarello proceeded with a tour of notorious bars well-known as selling points for heroin.
Bookkeeping proves to be a sensitive business for a politician. When the matter was discussed in Parliament after La Presse disclosed the facts, Premier Chrtien declared: “This Parliament would be much better off if we had more Gagliano’s.” >> more

Anyone else found the “L” word on her site?

She may be a loose woman but maybe you meant to say loser.
    Nevermind, just a pet peeve.

  23. REGARDING THE HONOURABLE BELINDA STRONACH, MINISTER OF HUMAN RESOURCES AND SKILLS DEVELOPMENT AND MINISTER RESPONSIBLE FOR DEMOCRATIC RENEWAL, I must stand corrected and admit that I was in error regarding her lack of pride in Paul Martin and the Liberal Party shown on her website.
The reason http://www.belinda.ca does not reference her (current!) political affiliation, Liberal, is because this is her constituency website where she is desiring to appear non-partisan so as to provide a comfortable home to assist all her constituents regardless of their politics.
On Belinda Stronach’s website http://www.votebelinda.ca“>http://www.votebelinda.ca”>http://www.votebelinda.ca you’ll observe that she proudly trumpets her Liberal Party affiliation and her admiration for Paul Martin’s great vision.
