Income Trust: RCMP Investigation Launched

CTV;

he RCMP will conduct a criminal investigation into an alleged leak of changes to income trust rules, the NDP are saying.
Back on Nov. 30, Judy Wasylycia-Leis, the NDP’s finance critic, requested the RCMP review the Nov. 23 announcement and see if anyone in the federal finance ministry tipped off any Bay Street insiders.
“The NDP is demanding that Finance Minister Ralph Goodale step aside while this investigation is going on,” CTV’s Roger Smith told Newsnet.

That’s all they have for now, but expect an update at the link later.

  1. My predictions:
    1) Goodale will throw Martin under the bus before himself (as he should)
    2) RCMP WILL investigate (they happened to ‘catch’ Harper saying he would de-politicize the RCMP so want him to have at least a chance… all the RCs I’ve talked to HATE the political shit)
    3) Martin’s goin’ doooowwwwwnnnnnn
    4) re: “harper and friends/supporters will soon be screaming corruption…” oops, it was Judy W of the ndp that called the press conference…
    5) YES, the dippers & cons can work together

  2. Those officials that participated or helped cover up, if it is found that something untoward occured, should be held liable personally. A class action lawsuit that strips them of their personal self-worth would be justifiable after their breach of the public trust. Nothing else seems to get their attention. That would be justice.

It was a well known fact that the upper management at the CBC Regina are mega-NDP supporters. Right now Calvert is on this “The Liberals have done nothing wrong” kick so something occuring like you say wouldn’t surprise me, however I doubt this is nothing more then the news director being unable to decide whom they should go with. In any case I’m glad I don’t have to do any more dealings with the Sask CBC.

  4. Just caught the ‘Mother’ network West Coast 10:00pm news. Looks like Ralphie just shot his eye out.

  5. The RCMP are poodles of the Liberal Party – an obvious fact since millions of taxpayer’s dollars are still ‘missing'(stolen) and they haven’t the slightest interest in this fact, it’s like they haven’t even heard about it.
There are other police forces in Canada, real police forces, that deal with major crime – why are they not stepping up to investigate? A crime is a crime, Liberal-comitted crime or not.
The CBC recieves all sorts of money from this government, and hopefully wouldn’t under an honest government – so their biases are also blatantly obvious. They want to cash in too, like CTV types, get a good paying gig as a Party hack or work for a ‘Communications Firm’ that’s fully funded by the Liberal Party from taxpayer’s dollars. None of these people at CTV or CBC are real journalists and they know it – it makes them all the more rabid in their attacks against anybody who might upset their apple cart.

  6. Just look at how they did nothing about Shawinigate in the face of overwhelming evidence that there was every reason to pursue an investigation. Peter MacKay stymied Nails-on-the-board Annie when he pointed this out to her on Duffy a few weeks ago. She just gulped and shut up when he used this as an example of interference by the government in the RCMP.

  7. It seems as though no government official is willing to take responsibility for the actual and alleged misdeeds of those under their direct superivision. If criminal activity is in fact uncovered in this new investigation, and if Goodale was not directly involved, he is still responsible given that he heads the department. Goodale has no honour.

  8. Peter Mansbridge repeatedly asked Goodale last night about ministerial responsibility, Goodale was evasive, even saying he investigated his own actions and was satisfied that he’s done nothing wrong. What a joke! No Liberal accepts ministerial responsibility for anything, but we have a Prime Minister who saw nothing wrong with his CSL receiving a total benefit of over $162 million at taxpayers expense. I guess he had to pay the loan somehow, typical Liberal exploitation of Canadians.
Mansbridge and the rest of the MSM were basically forced to look at the IT Scandal, but they still have not or will not look at short sales in the period preceding Goodale announcing that he was going to be looking at Income Trusts.

  9. We all agree the corrupt RCMP will not find anything as long as the Liberals are in power and as for the OSC, unlike the US where people actually go to jail our provincial security establishments dont even investigate. One fall out they may see is a loss of money. I for one will no longer invest in anything traded on the TSE. Its strictly stocks traded in the US. I wonder how many others are thinking this way ?

  10. “Da poof is the poof, and when you have good poof, it is poofen.” Works every time…..
“Yes, it happened in my department and under my watch, but I know nothing about it.”
    Bwhahahahahahahahaha!

  11. The only difference between the upper elements of the RCMP and the current government is the placement of the yellow stripe.
