  1. You’re preaching to the choir, Kate. The people that need to read the message are too aloof to lower themselves and listen to the common folk like you and me!

  2. You’ll probably get audited, Kate. Excellent, as usual. Probably too much commonsense for the CBC types to absorb; but I understand what you’re saying. But then, I’m not much into hug therapy anyway. The timing of this is interesting, since apparently the courts are now committed to keeping youth out of jail at all costs. And of courfse, a lot of these crimes are being committed by youth.

  3. During the debate last night, Paul Martin said that one gun collector in Toronto had a break in and 30 of his guns were stolen. 12 crimes were committed using his guns. I think that this claim should be verified just to make sure that it is true. It probably is true, but given the record of the person that said it, it may not be and it would be very bad for him if it was not true.

  4. Lady,
Being new to your site….I don’t know where you came from, but please find a way to make your talents for telling it like it is into a million dollars. You somehow have an inate ability to take the jumbled thoughts in my head and turn them into valid and lethal prose. What a great post. Don’t stop now.

  6. Good post Kate..to anybody out there! is it just me or was the debates last night seem (looking for a word here )a waste of time…What we need from Harper is nothing short of raw politics..take the gloves off,you are losing my interest…take it to them..you want to run this country then show it.

  7. Its a BFO.
    Brilliant Flash of the Obvious.
Should send the lefty pantywaists into a knicker twisting frenzy.
If only we had one more basketabll court in Jane/Finch or in Surrey . . all those young guys would be in the NBA instead a killing people all over the palce.
    just one more court, pity.

Given the LIE-BERAL record, I CERTAINLY would like to see that statement verified by a non partisan..authority. Martin nad Lieberals in general are very adept at let’s just call it “inventing facts ” whenever required.
Remember Brison and HIS accusations, shortly followed by a non appology??
Truthe be known, more dead lieberals would not annoy me in the least. You could say I’ve had my fill….

  9. I agree that the ban should not be part of the liberal package, or any package for that matter. The key is to control the borders better, enforce and punish like you mean it. Originally I thought the ban would be good, but after much discussion, I changed my opinion on the matter.
Good post actually, I love the sarcasm 😀

  10. Someone help me out with this. PMPM wants to ban all handguns but needs the provinces to actually enforce it (several already making it clear they will not) and the same is true for his grandios “childcare institution” plans. Without the provinces on board neither plan will go anywhere. So what is this ‘tard (PMPM) on about then? Is he either facing a mental collapse, hopelessy out of touch from the real world, or does he think we are really that stupid? I just can’t figure out the game he’s at here.

  11. OMG! I love your writing. I love your site. I have come to depend on your site as an antidote to Charles Adler. The MSM is being shown how its done. Keep it up girl. and thanks. I’d vote for ya!

  12. Bravo, Kate; when I emailed every LIEberal riding association in Ontario about how unhappy I was with Martin’s nonsense, the reply I got from Mr. Elie Betito (the campaign director for Bonnie Brown in Oakville) was simply “take your NRA, gun-loving ass back to the US where you belong”. I was born a Canadian, I’m a member of the RCMP, and I am so fed up with being treated like a criminal in this country that I AM going to take my ass and all that’s connected to it to the US.

  13. THe 12 crimes committed were probably done by one guy, so you won’t get that part of the story. But really, one break-in is supposed to justify throwing more money at the problem? Besides, there’s already a ban in place. More Librano nonsense.

  14. SDC – do you have a copy of that email? Would you consider sending it to me privately, complete with headers? There’s an email link at the sidebar on the left.

  15. SDC Hold it not so fast. Try to get a transfer to Alberta. Should the libs win the election, a strong case for separation is at hand. We will need your services as part of our new police force.

  17. Very fine article. History shows an opposite result of the desired one when tighter Gun Laws are enacted. If one home in ten has a firearm available, all are protected. The bad guy does not know who is unarmed. They don’t fear the police or the courts. They most certainly fear a homeowner prepared to protect his or her family. It’s politically incorrect to say this in social utopia Canada, but it’s true. SDC : You are always welcome in Alberta as MikeP says. The Royal Northwest Mounted Police belong to us. Once we sever the bonds of their Liberal loving leaders they can regain their reputation as the finest Police Force in the world.

  18. Very well said Kate. You are a very good writer. For what it’s worth, Steve Madely (The morning show host of CFRA, Ottawa) had a Canada customs guy on a couple of weeks ago and he stated that they have about 150 drive throughs a month across Canada. A drive through is someone not wanting to stop and report at Customs. You have to wonder why they are not stopping and what are they carrying. Of course, there is usually only one inspector on at night in the small border towns and he is unarmed so even if he suspects something, he has to decide if it is worth his life to search the car. The gun ban will do nothing in stopping the criminals bringing in the guns.

  19. SDC don’t you dare let them chase you out of the country. That clown is a employee of Canadian citizens. They may be paid directly or indiretly nevertheless thats taxpayer money that kluk gets and that kind of disrespect directed to a voter deserves nothing less than total banishment from any government income peiod.
Any employee of mine starts talking to what is the equivilant of a customer or the folks paying the bills desrerves nothing less than being removed from the payroll and to be banned from ever recieving any kind of income from the taxpayer ever again.

  20. Regards the missing guns from the collector in Toronto, there was a similiar case in Victoria a few years back. Seems the Victoria City Police misplaced about twenty service revolvers, they didn’t miss them until one turned up in a crime in Vancouver. So you have tom ask yourself, do you feel protected, when the police force in a provincial capital can’t keep track of their sidearms?

  21. Not to detract from Kate (who is doing great, I might add), but Andrew Coyne has returned to the blogosphere (well, for 2 posts, anyways). It appears he hasn’t forgiven his commenters for going overboard last time he allowed comments, as they are still disallowed. Still, nice to have another daily blog to read.

  22. Couple of years ago, here in Toronto, the police LOST two cases of Glock pistols that had been sent via Purolator from Montreal! Question:
Why do the police in Ontario have to purchase their sidearms from Quebec?

  23. lost or stolen, its still the criminals USING them that are the problem. Kate’s point is firm.
If the criminals don’t do a B&E ta a collectors house, they’ll get the gun they want from the black market – maybe a few of those 1500 border crashes every year are gun runners.

  24. I never sent anyone fan mail before but I love your thinking and writing.
    “This is just the voice
    of an ordinary Canadian
yelling back at the radio –
    “You don’t speak for me.”
They don’t speak for me either
    Thanks Kate,
    Keep up the good work

  25. As a gun owner and avid hunter, Thanks Kate.
To often our rights are trampled as we are constantly misrepresented by the lying liberals/MSM and the totally disconnected Toronto retardegentsia that so far hasn’t found a liberal lie they can’t happily swallow.
Glad to see you’re not dumbing it down,
even Glyn is “getting it”. 🙂
Kidding Glyn, you’re on the right path.
Fifty pound dead carp of reality to the face, is too subtle for Joe Toronto.

  26. Let us not hear that the registration system will cost $100 per firearm. Let us not hear that it is a prelude to confiscation by the government of hunting rifles and shotguns. Let us not contend that it will cost $1.5 billion to put in place. That is the way to distort the discussion. That is the way to frighten people. Liberal Justice Minister Alan Rock, Hansard, February 16, 1995.
The Firearms Act is about licensing and registration, not confiscation. Justice Minister Anne McLellan, July 31, 1998.
This is not about confiscating guns. I resent the implication and the mythology that is portrayed by using that statement, because it is incorrect. Lynn Myers, MP. Parliamentary Secretary to the Solicitor General of Canada, November 8, 2001.
