Hey Liberals are you starting to get the drift..?
I watched part of the CTV coverage of the election call this morning and I wonder if they will continute to use Brian Tobin as an “analyst,” during the election. Judging by his anti-conservative comments this morning, he is a perfect fit for the type of coverage we will get from CTV. You know, neutral, objective, unbiased. Ha, ha.
All:
At first blush I was tempted to use some of my valuable time to post comments to that CTV site.
On second thought, is it worth it? Will there be an audience with open minds? Will any comment I post be taken out of context or otherwise mangled for the purpose of serving the Lieberal cause?
Has observing years of Ottawa/Toronto journalistic moonbatism destroyed my objectivity? Or just made me paranoid?
What do you think, Kate?
CTV has responded on their blog to your comments on anonymity.
I don’t think I’ll bother. I’m going to watch closely what Mr. Harper says during the runup. I already know what Martin will say. The CPC has to spell it out and not be wishy-washy. They need to make people understand that they have a choice. Vote one way and save Canada. Vote the other and goodbye Canada.
I will be glued to the TV on election night. For the sake of a united Canada I hope that the CPC win a majority. This is the last to save Canada for me.
I am a Canadian. If I have to reduce Canada to the size of one province to save it I will help to do that. Ottawa is not Canada. Ontario is not Canada. Canada is what our forfathers went to two world wars to fight for. The Liberals and their supporters could not be more of an enemy for me if they wore Nazi uniforms and spoke German.
It is absolutely disgraceful that the CTV mandarins allow their staff to blog on their site without ID. I think it is entirely fair that someone should complain to the CRTC regarding this issue. In effect, we have a regulated broadcaster funding political opinion without identification which is essentially political propaganda when it is done in such a manner. Technically this is a violation of the elections canada regulations.
Look for the CTV television crews to start quoting anonomous info that they get from their blog real soon. Thus, Mike Duffy could quote from the CTV Blog what somebody on the CTV news editor posted and it could in fact actually have been Duffy who wrote the comment!!
John, Libs and the left are really ashamed of our history. As the vets die off, watch as our history becomes a nation of eternal peacekeepers. They are only going through the motions of honouring vets. As far as I’m concerned, those four challenger jets could/should have been used to fly some of these guys to memorial services around the world because it is likely their last chance. Carolyn Parrish, a teacher, noted not that long ago in a speech that Canadians have a history as peacekeepers.
I’m no Jack Layton fan, but did you read the way they slagged him? Would they slag a Liberal that way?
That’s from the CTV *NEWS* division. Is Scott Woodchuck thumblogging there too?
They’re now anti-Layton because he sided with the other two parties. It’s going to be open season on Layton because Trudeau’s love-child’s mother is running against Jack for the Liberals in that riding, and anything that carries a Trudeau gene is worthy of adoration, adulation and absolute devotion. Jack can expect a lot of grief from the media, while Debra Coyne can do nothing wrong. Might work for the Tories who could shoot up the middle if it comes to a pissing match.
I’m also a little disgusted that one contributor’s ‘solution’ to the CPC problem boils down to ‘shut up the SoCons’. As far as I’m concerned, the many issues SoCons address have typically been poorly discussed publicly – you can’t even mention that there should be some restrictions on abortion (like, say, the other 98% of countries that allow abortion), without every freaking liberal in the country say, “We’d rather elect the Liberals back in than have a grown-up, democratic debate on an important issue”.
It’s a shame the most of the media in this country don’t know or don’t care what the role of a news service is in a democracy.
Most of them seem to believe it’s a position to be used to further their own fortunes by sucking up to the governing party or as a platform to push their own political agenda.
We have blogs and op/ed pieces for that.
So here’s my message to the media:
KNOW YOUR ROLE OR SHUT YOUR HOLE!
That means you too, Duffy.
When Canada falls apart in a few years, I wonder how many of them will be smart enough to realise that they had a hand in it?
Or honest enough to admit it?
The CTV Election blog is no longer a blog in the pure sense, as they are now reviewing all comments before they are posted. This is just typical of the level of cowardice displayed by the Lie-beral’s and their MSM supporters. They deserve a strong kick in the balls on election day.
That was fast, eh?
Fast, but not suprising. Kate , did you check out the report about Dingwall being a no show in front of the Finance Commitee looking at his illegal lobbying?
Ah, Canadians are now understanding the concept of “temnyky” that Ukrainians were so used to up until about a year ago.
Maybe Conservatives should consider approaching the closed-caption signers at the networks to get their message out. Maybe send them orange ribbons to wear on their wrists.
How much do you wanna bet they start editing comments in addition to just reviewing them?
I submitted a comment about 1/2 hour ago but it has been “approved” yet.
Anne, only the seriously disturbed visit the CBC site. It is NOT good for your wellbeing. Lies, lies and more lies at the Mother Corpse, courtesy of the necrophiliacs who work there. Much better to stay with us, read the Sun chain or other right-leaning blogs. Can’t decide whether CTV or CBC is worse, but both are out to mislead and misinform.

Actually I think CTV is worse. Many viewers probably think that because it is a private network it will not suck up to the government like the CBC. But CTV is licensed by the CRTC and thus ulimately the government. As is Bell Globemedia, which owns both CTV and the Globe and Mail.

There’s a whole pile of media people I’d love to see eat crow/jump out of windows after the pending Conservative victoy. Beginning with the press:
1. Craig Oliver
2. Mike Duffy
3. Peter Mansbridge
4. Sandie Rinaldo
5. Lisa La Flamme
6. That blonde bimbo who sits oppostite Dan Matheson on CTV Newsnet.
I lived in Toronto when CTV was owned by John Bassett, a conservative so blue I don’t even know whether he knew any Liberals. But after he died, I guess they family must have unloaded it because over the years, it’s become so Liberal it’s hard to watch. If Mike Duffy became any more obsequious, he’d look like Scott ‘Ferret’ Brison. Still, maybe he’s angling for a senate seat, too. Can’t think of any other reason he’d throw an entire career as a journalist out the window (that’s back in the days when there were a few around with integrity).
CTV is not that bad. Mike Duffy actually slags liberals. My bet is he votes conservative.
CBC is the real problem.
Seeing Peter Mansbridge crying on electin night will sooth my soul and I really believe this is going to happen.
I don’t normally troll over to the CBC website but some whiney liberal posted the link and somehow believes this makes it reality. I decided to see for myself and nearly split a gut laughing – a liberal majority predicted?? What planet is this guy inhabiting since he is way out there! I guess they figure if they say it enough times that they can believe their own lies, right?

Iron Lady, with regards to CBC and CTV it has nothing to do with left or right – unfortunately. It’s the political machine from Trudeau right through Mulroney to Chretian and Martin – Conservative or Liberal. Perhaps even earlier than that, but I’m too young to know (we don’t have proper Canadian history in high school anymore).
In the last 50 years and perhaps through the entire Canadian history; anytime an outsider made it to the PMO, they didn’t last (think Dief, Clark, Turner, Campbell).
Harper IS the scariest man in Canada to a lot of people – because if he becomes prime minster he WILL end this crap and people will end up in jail. As Paul Martin said…”condemn to history…blah blah blah.”
My biggest concern now is Peter MacKay’s new squeeze.
I’m worried about that, too, Happy. Looks like he’s being seconded to the Quebec ‘family’ in case Harper trips up and MacKay is ordained. Then, the ‘family’ will already have him where they want him and even if there is a switch to Tories in the future post-Harper, who’ll notice because the ‘family’ will still be running things. Business as usual from the enclave in Quebec.
“Temnyky”…
That’s a word we should use whenever the MSM demonstrates its anti-Conservative and pro-Liberal bias.
Of course there’s temnyky in the Canadian MSM. The Liberal state has stealthily assumed virtual control of messaging via the MSM. It’s subtle, but one can see it if watching for patterns in reporting. It’s in the patterns that we can see the bias of the MSM.
Oh, and as for the CTV getting into blogging, that’s just totally assinine. The reason there are blogs like this one and my own is because the CTV and its MSM buddies won’t do their real job which is to tell the truth as much as possible to the people. Period.
Was watching CTV Newsnet this afternoon and right after they cut away from a Stephen Harper press conference, Kate Wheeler mentioned that he had brought up the “phoney” same-sex marriage issue. Nope! No bias there.
I’m never sure whether Kate Wheeler is just a mannequin whose mouth moves, or hates her job. She’s probably the worst. Belongs at the Mother Corpse with the other necros.
Pat O’Brien was on CPAC last week and said he’s working with quite a few others behind the scenes on the SSM issue, making sure it doesn’t disappear during the election. A lot of these folks are/were liberals. He said he had so much support for his stand against it last spring that he felt he would leave politics to do this because it’s still very important to a lot of people.
I think Kate Wheeler is hot.

Happy. Man, are you right on. Can’t believe that you’ve covered just about all my concerns in one tiny comment.
You’re right, it does not matter, Conservative or Liberal. It’s the power cartel behind them. For a current example look no further than the invasion of Iraq and the war on terrorism. Blair is liberal and Bush conservative. But it doesn’t seem to matter to them does it? So it wasn’t a political decision to join up and fight the good fight. It was because they both had eyes wide open. They both saw the threat. Still do.
As for Peter MacKay’s latest squeeze, “they” planted one mole in the Conservative Party already didn’t they? And she crossed the floor at the right time. Some people just don’t understand. This is a fight to the death and you “don’t sleep with the enemy.” I have a big concern about this guy.

From CTV’s “Election Weblog”:
Maybe they meant “Lou”
So, a hateful person might think the 59,195 people booed Prime Minister Paul Martin when he went out to toss the coin at the 93rd playing of the CFL’s Grey Cup game between the Edmonton Eskimos and Montreal Alouettes.
Remember: The game was played in B.C. Lui Passaglia, the retired but no less legendary B.C. Lions placekicker, was no doubt in attendance at the big game.
Isn’t it possible people saw Passaglia at the same time they saw Martin and called out with their traditional “Lou-u-u-u-u-u?” It often got confused with “boo.”
Passaglia must have been bent over tying his shoelace or something when Gov. Gen. Michaelle Jean stepped out. She got applauded.”

B Wylie “9. How many more immigrants are needed to give the liberals, majority government for life..?”
I fail to understand how that’s a valid question? Doesn’t that imply that you think immigration is a bad thing for Canada? After all, it’s not the Liberals’ fault that the next most major party has a policy that’s hostile to immigration. It’s a situation rectified by having the CPC develop policies that new Canadians don’t feel threatened by. They’ve managed to tap into the widespread belief in many immigrant communities that homosexual marriage should be banned, but beyond that what are they doing for immigrants?
