Someone asked for an open thread on the CFL now that the league is entering playoffs. Ask, and ye shall receive.
One rule – no malicious gossip about the Roughriders’ linebacker Trevis Smith – it’s not only unfair, I don’t need to be sued.

  3. It’s scary for a Lions fan heading into the Western Final, after they’ve lost six of their last seven games. I hope they stay with Dickenson.

  5. I am afraid that Edmonton will lose to Calgary. For some reason, Edmonton has gone into the tank. Anyway, it would be great if the Eastern Champs were the Sask. Roughriders.

  7. I will go back to my pre-season prediction:
    The Stamps wouldn’t become a team untill after Labor Day.
    This turned out to be spot on, but I can’t belive how well they did 7-1!
    My other prediction was that Edmonton and Calgary would fight it out for the cross over spot. OK a bit off but they sure ended the season with a bang.
    I also said that BC would be the top in the west.
    So, where did I go wrong?
    I picked the Jolly Green to be in second, and here maybe you folk in Sask can help me.
    What happened to Nelon Greene?? He should have been going great guns. After the loss to Calgary, he seemed to pack up his tent and went home.
    So what happened to him?
    Also WHAT DID YOU DO TO CRANDELL???
    He never showed those chops here in Calgary, he neveer showed them in Edmonton… What did you feed him?
    So now for the play offs. The western final will be played between Calgary and Edmonton with Calgary going into BC to mop up the Lions. (Can you say Bouno? Here in Calgary we can)
    Sask takes out Montreal and then looses to Toronto (gosh I sure hope my head is wrong and my heart is right)
    Setting up a Calgary Toronto rematch. (no Rocket this time).
    Calgary takes all the marbles and Tom Higgens is Coach of the Year.
    (My dream match up for the Grey Cup? Big Red beats Jolly Green by one point in the wildest Grey Cup ever!)
    All in all one of the best ever seasons for the western teams.
    Go Big Red!

  11. ‘Roughriders’- is that some kinda sports team? What does a ‘linebacker’ do, anyway? And Trevis Smith- is he some kind of star, or something? (My lawyer costs more money than your lawyer).

I remember an ad on SCTV from “The Ministry of Canadian Facts” It had stock footage from the leather-helmet era and a voice over saying “Many people think that there are three downs in Canadian football, but there are in fact there have always been four. That’s right, there are not three, but four downs in Canadian football. We punt on third down just to be safe.”

    Both Sask and the Stamps out.
    Oh well. The western semi final was a great game none the less.
    Now it is Go CFL!!
