Apropos of the post immediately preceding this one, might I inquire as to the following: Must we resign ourselves to the inevitability of terrorism without end, due to the apparently inexhaustible supply of abysmally stupid young men – young men who would rather scatter their entrails, along with a dollop of schrapnel, over a room full of people, ostensibly their peers, than do a bit of drinking or screwing, as any normal young man would be more than happy to indulge in?
As a followup question – is there any hope that stem cell research will lead to a cure for islamist brain rot?

You tell me.
It just makes sense to them to give their lives and others for what they believe or have been told will be paradise and earthly martyrdom.
If we are resigned, it is that, with what we’ve got to work with, we can’t compete.
Plato…they are simply copying the wisdom of Sun-Tze, in which he states the obvious….(original text followed by Eng)
故曰:知彼知己,百戰不殆;不知彼而知己,一勝一負;不知彼,不知己,每戰必敗
So it is said that if you know your enemies and know yourself, you will not be imperiled in a hundred battles; if you do not know your enemies but do know yourself, you will win one and lose one; if you do not know your enemies nor yourself, you will be imperiled in every single battle.
Until we in the West copy this style, or commit absolute genocide, they will be around for a long time.
The Muslims vx the Sodomites
End of story!
Oops that’s vs the Sodomites
or —>>> { the sodomites
Honestly, I think that we would have a better chance at countering terrorism if we first started to consider the world (and our place within it) from the perspective of a potential terrorist. Now, we live in a society that has abandoned all of the moral teachings of our ancestors; we live in excess, break the Ten Commandments and seven deadly sins regularly. At the same time we have hypocritical and schizophrenic foreign and trade policies that are unpredictable and talk about eliminating world poverty while at the same time preventing any real economic growth in developing nations.
What I guess I am trying to say is that we dont need to resign ourselves to the inevitability of terrorism without end if we dont want to. What we need to do is abandon quick fixes (like invasion of countries) and feel good statements (foreign aid and Soft Power) and really focus on cleaning our house and improving the living conditions of everyone in the world. Ultimately I dont think that this would be all that hard, all we need to do as democratic nations is abandon electing politicians and actually start electing leaders.
” than do a bit of ……. screwing, as any normal young man would be more than happy to indulge in?”
That’s a big part of the problem. The dames in the Gulf countries especially Saudi Arabia are kept so sequestered from young men that guys expend their youthful exuberance studying the Koran. After years they come to the conclusion that they will never be able to afford a dowry. So referring back to the clause: “Get laid as often as you want, martyr yourself killing infidels.”
Bada bing, bada Boom!!
Alton you just don’t get their message.
Islamists want to kill all the infidels and re-establish the Caliphate.
They aren’t interested in negotiating and they don’t give a hoot about how tidy our house is or how well we are keeping to the Ten Commandments.
And here I thought everything would be OK if we just allowed SSM.
Hmmmm.
Oh well, maybe if we legalize polygamy those Islamist will leave us alone.
occam…my understanding is that stem cells only work if you have a living host…so no to the follow up Q.Their brains are to dead for anything to work.
Alton,
This is the wishful thinking at best, completely out of touch with all reality kind of thinking that keeps us in these situations.
The islamist terrorists do not give a crap for your feel good, make the world a better place fantasies. They want everybody to live their way and no arguments.
You can be as oblivious to actual life as you want to. Like the idiots who went to iraq to be human shields. Like the idiots who saw the good in the soviet union. Like…. well, all the other social engineers.
Be an ostrich and keep your head in the sand. Let the leaders take us into iraq, call the soviet union an “evil empire”, do everything that your type protests so much against.
And then, pretend it never happened and they were lucky. That sometimes wars are neccesary and we have to fight to protect ourselves from those who wish to kill us.
Imagine how nice it would be if we all hugged our problems away.
enough
Exactly.
What the altons can’t grasp is that the only way to stop Islam is to do the opposite of what they suggest: be as ruthless and merciless as possible. So alton is right in one way, we MUST cleanup our own house, but that means, to shut all the altons down for a while, grow as resoltute in promoting OUR way of life as they are theirs. This means to back our resolve with nothing but raw, merciless power and rid the world of them.
You can’t cure cancer by lulling it to be content to inhabit the body. It must be annihilated.
The real question is how long do you suppose this can go on until western leaders (this inlcudes Israel) are faced with the dilemma of either nuking Mecca and Medina or their own certain demise?
ALTON: Your arguments are merely designed to avoid facing the truth about terrorism. You take the left’s comfort in self-blame.
1) The actual terrorists are not impoverished.
2) If our moral turpitude is to blame, Europe should be way ahead of the U.S. as a target; so should Canada. For that matter, your argument gives the West the right to blast merry hell out of Muslim countries that have mysoginistic and racist ways.
3) When you speak of “invading countries” do you mean Iraq and Afghanistan? 911 happened before those and caused them. So did a string of bombings in the previous 20 years.
4) Before you respond with “supporting despots,” the coalition took out Saddam, one of those despots and is attempting to get the country back on its feet with free elections. It’s obvious “they” don’t want that either. Translates to: “we want to be the despots.”
In any event, what kind of outfit is it that does the things these people do. No warnings, no discussions or negotiations, just destruction, even targeting kids, cutting off heads! Even if they had valid points it would be WRONG to appease them in any way.
5) Why Bali?
5) Why Bali?
The last time it was for revenge on the island’s mainly Hindu population for the Muslims massacred in India.
6) Ever notice that the 101st Fighting Keyboardists are always ready to talk tough and use the nukes. So ready here to be intolerant of someone else’s take on the situation and shut them down. Please join the marines. Yellow elephants.
You all missed my points, or are too set in you ways to understand what I am getting at.
Terrorist organizations are not national organizations; they’re translational organizations (much like large corporations). If you wanted to destroy McDonalds (for example) you can not simply invade Edmonton, blow up all the McDonalds and claim that you’ve done anything long term against McDonalds; to destroy a translational organization you have to destroy the support for the institution in every country.
Now people wonder why it is so important to clean our own houses. Think of it this way, Canada has recently legalized same sex marriage; we have essentially said that (in the eyes of various powerful religious leaders around the world) Canada embraces immoral relationships between people who should be stoned. Imagine for a moment if a country embraced kidnapping and raping women as a legal marriage format (this is similar to the moral outrage that many clerics feel towards countries like Canada now)
The hypocritical foreign trade policies I am talking about are never brought up. Why is it that our country (like most western countries) talks about ending world poverty and sends aid to developing nations (which then gets used to buy castles for dictators), but they are unwilling to eliminate duties, tariffs and subsidies that are some of the main reasons that they’re poor in the first place. The reason is that powerful lobby groups, like the Canadian Auto Workers, are afraid of the economic downfall for themselves; they cant grasp Economic Principal #1 from Economics 101, Free trade benefits EVERYONE.
I understand that terrorist leaders are not poor people (theyre among the richest people in their region) but the actual terrorists who blow themselves up are usually among the poorest of the poor; they are usually bribed with a small sum of money and the promise of eternal salvations (because theyre killing such evil people). If we stopped looking like we were so evil, and if the poorest of the poor saw some opportunity for long term financial improvement for themselves and their families, terrorist action would be reduced.
The fact of the matter is that my words are wasted because we will never have an actual leader elected in Canada (or any western nation for that matter); the only thing we have is politicians and socialists, and most of the politicians will become socialists after one term in office (see. King Ralf). No one is willing to stand up to the Manufacturing Unions and the Farmers and tell them that were eliminating Tariffs, Duties and Subsidies, that they will all probably loose their job, but that we will probably have new jobs opening up in the Engineering, Management and Entertainment fields if theyre willing to go back to school. No one is going to tell people to stop spending more money than the make on flashy shows of excess, to become more respectful of the ways of our ancestors, and to stop broadcasting pornography.
BREAKING NEWS—————
OKLAHOMA TERRORIST BOMBING LAST NIGHT OUTSIDE FOOTBALL GAME W/ OVER 80,000 IN ATTENDANCE.
NO MSM REPORTS YET.
GO TO:
http://thecanadiansentinel.blogspot.com
Free trade–foreign trade–all warm and fuzzy words–but just like the softwood lumber and beef–there is no such thing–it is invasion of a country when ‘free trade’ is touted–we know the bigger country wins and citizens lose.
The same is happening to other countries–‘free’ trade is used for slave labour and raping of resources. Does no one read what is happening around the world when ‘trade’, free or not, becomes involved. The world has been turned into a corporatocracy and some people are fighting against that.
I do not agree with terrorism, but you fight with the tools you have. This has gone on for centuries, even before the Crusades. Terrorism rears its head when the hornets nest is kicked. The American war in Iraq has created more terrorist than the world ever dreamed existed. ‘Terrorism’ is practiced by both sides–but Islam has fought back–they have not been the instigators. Strange that the US etc. are claimed as liberators, but to the countries invaded or the countries where the CIA has caused uprisings they are considered terrorists. Guess terrorism is in the eye of the beholder.
Alton;
While I agree that we may not look rosey to those in terrorland, I disagree that anything we could do in the area of social or moral improvement will help the situation. At least not in the immediate future.
Why? Because all that the low-level suicide bombers hear are propaganda and lies. They’re told that we beat our elderly, eat our babies, posion villages, etc.
“Knowledge is power” applies here. The bombers don’t have any knowledge beyond what is fed to them by the clerics. And the clerics hate us not because of our foriegn or domestic policies, but because we’re not muslim nations.
That being said, there is support infrastructure that could probably be broken down with increased aid and education in certain areas. It’s been 4 years since 9/11, why havn’t we caught Bin Laden yet? Because people in the afgan mountains are helping him. Start aiding and educating those people, and sooner or later, some will start to question the whole extreme-islam thing.
(Mind you, I have another theory about why Bin Laden is still out there — that the US just doesn’t want to catch him since it would make him a marytr.)
One thing is for certain however; There is no easy or quick fix to this problem.

GEORGE: Well you make a convincing argument. I just have a couple of questions.
when ‘free trade’ is touted–we know the bigger country wins and citizens lose
It seems that Canada has done very well out of NAFTA while the U.S. has a huge trade deficit. Is this just an anomaly?
Islam has fought back–they have not been the instigators
I see what you mean, except for incidents in Lebanon, India, Egypt, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Turkey, Philippines, Pakistan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Sudan. There are others but thats a long enough list for now. In each case, Islamic terror has been visited on fellow Muslims and/or people that cannot be said to have harmed Muslims in any of the ways you mention; or in any other meaningful way, come to think of it.
Please help me to understand.
canadain sentinel, I’m not sure about that bombing. There is nothing about it at LGF. I wouldn’t get too excited about it yet. I could be wrong.
Constant vigilence is the price of freedom…what? you were expecting peace love and understnding from sociopaths???….war/crime/violence is ongoing it will live with us as long as there is mankind….I think this is what you should have engraved in your conciousness as soon as the embryonic fluids have dried off your back…..the utopian concept of a perfect crime/war/despot free world is nothing that has ever existed on this plane of reality.
You prepare to battle those who would attack you as soon as you can stand alone….this duty never ends.
Self defense is a natural duty of humanity and requisite of individual freedom…do not let your government take on this responsibility for you…it is doing just this that has created civil abominations like the patriot and anti-terrorist acts…we loose our freedoms because those we relegate our self protection to are incapable of the job….so now we have an endless supply of sociaopaths to deal with as well as our loss of liberty taken by our own governors.
Once the jihadis are subdued someone else will take their place….there is always someone who thinks they can get what they want by attacking you…always.
What’s worse ?
The muslim mullah fucktards that would enslave all muslims with the most vile ugly hatred, suffering and death since the nazis
Or
Well spoken western people among us blindly locked into their fuzzy pink world of self hatred (because that’s the only hatred allowed by PC thinkers) that they argue against ACTION against the muslim aggressor and legitimize the mullah asswipes by telling us to NOT trust the mullahs to their word ,but instead listen to them interpret the hatred for us .

“Once the jihadis are subdued someone else will take their place….there is always someone who thinks they can get what they want by attacking you…always.”
That’s the most depressing thing I’ve heard all week. 🙁
Stop and think. Why would we be surprised? We are told that the Muslim extremists and their leaders are stuck in the 11th and 12 Century and seriously in need of a Reformation. In that time frame we Christians were busy invading the Middle East and the party line in Christian countries was “If you die freeing the Holy Lands, you are a martyr and you’ll go straight to heaven” (although I seriously doubt there as any talk of 72 virgins). Does that sound familiar? In any case, I detest the bastards and want to see them all properly educated … or dead.
“Dead” we know will work
Greenmamba–
Free trade–there is no such thing as ‘free’–someone always pays the price–in Canada it is farmers and loggers. Same in the rest of the world–people gassed in their homes because standards for operating are not as stringent for companies in foreign lands. Dictators get the benefits of ‘free’ trade while the people are enslaved.
Islam has fought back—read your current events–you know that Iran will be next and it has nothing to do with ‘freedom and democracy’ it has to do with oil. All the bombings have been done in retaliation to US intervention and CIA and Israeli instigated disruption in those countries. People are so blind they will not see. Do you think it is any different for SA and Chavez? To every action there is a reaction and we are seeing it daily.
I do not want my sons used as cannon fodder to promote globalization and big bucks for Halliburton, Bush and Cheney. Almost 2000 young people killed in Iraq and what have they got to show for it except more and more deaths. The US has created more ‘terrorists’ than ever existed before. I guess you would just roll over an let someone march into your country to ‘save’ you?
George,
You couldnt be more wrong with you assessment of free trade. The fact is that the jobs you loose under free trade are usually in industries you dont want and the jobs are soon replaced with far better ones. How many people are complaining about the loss of the textile industry to developing nations? Are there people who are actually looking to make minimum wage while doing a mindless and repetitive job? Should we have increased taxes on our high tech companies (ensuring less employment in these fields) in order to subsidize these low paying jobs?
Even if you keep overly protectionist policies in place (and somehow maintain your standard of living) you have bought yourself what 20 (maybe 30) years before robotics eliminate the majority of these jobs anyways. If we embrace globalization and switch our economy to be more Intellectual Property based and far less Resource/Manufacturing based we will be ensuring the prosperity of our children while giving developing nations the opportunity to help themselves.
I dont know why everyone hates corporations making money so much; much like everyone I know, I work for a corporation, I have my retirement savings invested in corporations and thus when a corporation profits I profit because my job becomes more stable and my retirement savings grow.
Retirement savings–I guess you don’t work for Stelco?
How arrogant of you to state we should keep the high end jobs–Canadians are not cookie cutter people–we have Canadians with different types of skills–some find lucrative work in ‘low-paying jobs’. As for the textile industry–hundreds of people lost the only job they have ever had so that business can better their bottom line with slave labour overseas. One question–who is going to buy the finished product if no one here has a job? Who is going to keep the Dingwalls and the Volpe’s in the manner to which they have become accustomned if the ‘lower end’ people are out of work?
As for ‘protectionist policies’–we have none to protect the economy of Canada and the people of Canada. We are a source of natural resources that we make little out of because we do not produce anything with them–we ship raw materials out and buy the finished product back. This cannot go on forever. Are you assuming that all of our children willl be the very brightest and best? Is that why the liberals keep importing ‘high end’ immigrants? Grab a brain–Canada is being drained of resources and minds–there are no jobs here–I have two kids with University degrees working in the fast food industry. I have a sister with a Masters degree in Chemistry that has never had a job in her field. And yet we export our jobs and bring in foreigners to fill Canadian jobs.
I don’t hate corporations making money–but I hate Canadians being used and abused and treated as expendable. The taxpayers of Ontario have to ante up the pension money for Stelco–yet not one question about where that money went in the first place. Canada is a corporateocracy–get used to it–we will be paying forever for business to screw us. Look at our own PM–where do his taxes go–not to Canada.
George: well you just ignored my questions and then went off into lalaland.
I have another question for you – this was posed by my daughter to me after she learned at school that it was all about oil.
“Isn’t it the president’s job to ensure a stable supply of oil for the U.S. and the world?”
Will your thought be the same when the President invades Canada to ‘ensure a stable supply of oill for the US’? What about a stable supply of water?
That 2000 American soldiers(also someone’s child, father, mother, husband or wife) die to ‘ensure a stable supply of oil’, or how many hundreds of thousands of Iraqis die so the US can ‘have a stable supply of oil’–I feel sorry for your daughter–the end does not justify the means–we have learned nothing over our time on earth. If her thinking is representative of the young people of today, we have lost the battle to be truly human. Even animals do not behave in this way.
And I answered every question you posed.
George: the kid just got in with a moose she shot for dinner. Got to cook. We’ll talk later.
The taxpayers of Ontario cough up the money because you and responsible Ontarians elect these people. You want government to take care of you, you want government to do this for you and that for you and you want, want, want.
This is where the free market takes care of things. Irresponsible companies go bankrupt. Companies who can’t keep up with the times go bankrupt. Thieving companies get sued and go bankrupt.
Those 2000 soldiers died because they chose to enlist. Cindy Sheehans son re-enlisted (this means voluntarily) so they made a choice.
I guess we should have stayed out of world war 2 also. This is what governments are supposed to do. Protect the interests of their country. Oil is an interest. Democracy in the middle east is also in their interest. Drop the propaganda and check out the real story. Hundreds of thousands of iraqis killed by the americans. Crap! Thousands of his own people killed by Saddam. That is a real number.
Sorry to hear you have children with no drive. Same with the sister. Come to BC or Alberta. Lots of jobs, lower taxes and less government. Then again, we don’t need any more welfare bums. Maybe they should stay in Ontario.
enough
My daughter is from Alberta–educated in Alberta–my daughter’s boss at the fast food outlet is a chemical engineer. They are searching for other jobs but so far nothing.
No–there is no way the children of a country should be used to further the wants of Halliburton and Cheney and Bush. If you used your head you would know this. Saddam was a buddy of the US–did you see the picture of Saddam and Rumsfeld as best buddies? This is the norm for the US–and don’t forget the gas used by Hussein was supplied by the US–the US was in Iraq when the Kurds were gassed and did nothing but fly over the area. No, this is just one big chess game and we and our children are the pawns.
Countries protect the interests of their countries–by murdering other people in other countries and stealing their resources?–just wait until they invade Alberta, to protect the interests of the US mind you–so I imagine you will welcome them with open arms? After all, the interests of the US are above those of Alberta and Canada, according to your thinking?
Irresponsible companies do not go bankrupt if they are friends of the Liberals–they get propped up and the pensions get paid off by taxpayers. Witness the latest–Stelco, in Hamilton. or if the Liberals want to buy votes–as in the auto industry. You are living in a dream world if you believe otherwise.
George,
There is absolutely no reason for underemployment in Alberta. None, not at all. High paying jobs are going wanting. Your daughter and her boss have some issues that you are unaware of or blind to. Unemployment in Alberta is at levels that only the chronically unemployed such as addicts and deadbeats cannot or will not find work. Too, many people work at honest jobs such as Walmart, Mcdonalds and other service industry jobs. Honest work.
You show a lack of understanding of some of the realities of world politics. You say the US created Saddam. They take care of what they caused and they are wrong. If they left it alone would they then be wrong too? Do we engage our enemies or do we withdraw? Do we fight evil or do ignore it? Which way would you like it?
The interests of each country is paramount to all else. Canada is responsible for protecting Canadian interests. Where those interests may coincide with other countries, that may result in an alliance or aid. Canada must be responsible for Canadian citizens first and foremost. I would expect the US to take care of themselves first. Can the US buy oil, lumber and goods instead of taking them by force? Yes, and it is cheaper. Again, market forces come into play.
Your problem is with the socialist policies of the Liberals. The same politicians who buy off companies for support. Buy off voters for support. Whatever it takes to get elected. And you want to create more socialist policies? it will lead to more corruption, not less.
George, keep saying those magic words. Haliburton, Bush, Cheney. I have some more for you; “Workers of the world, unite!” See, I can do it to.
enough
Issues –the issue is that there are no jobs that are available for them–I am not saying that that is the countries fault–at the place where my daughter works there are many more than her underemployed. She is not complaining about her job–but I am stating that the jobs are not there or they do not fit the gender or racial profile that is demanded for certain jobs. Interesting that you mention WalMart–my daughter’s roomate works at Walmart with a degree in psychology–and many of her co-workers are also degree holders.
There is no point in arguing about the US/Iraq involvement–there is no justification for invading a sovereign nation to satisfy your own needs. The spin re WMD etc has been debunked–the reality is that the US was greedy and their children are paying for it.
I have never in my life been called a socialist–a realist, a Libertarian, yes–but never a socialist. This is a first. I believe in right and wrong and all I have ever expected from a government is to treat me and mine fairly–not rob us blind and leave us with nothing.
I have never belonged to a union and believe the Unions are just another level of theft from the working persons pocket–a tax by another name is what union dues are.
We are not communicating very well if that is what you got from my message.
I’m getting a Marxist, antiglobalization, belaclava wearing, burning Bush effigy on a stick, warrior, vibe George.
Help us understand.
I’m impressed with your article. I’m looking forward to your next blog.
What if it’s all pretty much about the enslavement of women? Nothing really to do with economics but maintaining the status quo against a western society that’s already affected societies in the far east like China. Think about it…how many women are out there blowing themselves up compared to the number men? Why are muslim men so angry at the West? Why did the dutch documentary maker Van Gogh get hacked up by a muslim fanatic in a prosperous European country? What was the most reprehensible thing about Taliban controlled Afganistan if not the way they treated women?
Empower everyone including women in muslim dominated countries and change for the better will happen. As in empowerment similar to what’s been done in Afganistan and Iraq with strong but measured force.
Being all nice and apologetic with already rich terrorist supporting despots by setting up lucrative trade deals in their countries while blindly hoping with an attitude more at home at a “My Little Pony” convention that some money will make it through to the “poorest of the poor” to change their minds on sharing their guts with another twenty people within close proximity WON’T GET IT DONE.
It’s been done before…LOOK UNDER “IRAQ OIL FOR FOOD”. It’s not a battle for money but for dominance of ideas which includes the dominance of women.
