  1. On a related topic:
    The money quote:
“A former Air Force logistics officer had some words of advice for us in the Fourth Estate on his blog, Moltenthought:
“We do not yet have teleporter or replicator technology like you saw on ‘Star Trek’ in college between hookah hits and waiting to pick up your worthless communications degree while the grown-ups actually engaged in the recovery effort were studying engineering.”

  2. An optimist sees the glass half full. A pessimist sees the glass half empty. An engineer sees that the vessel is inappropriately sized for the fluid level.

  3. And some people don’t understand why we say we don’t pay attention to polls. The media uses one poll to fit its agenda while ignoring another that militates against it.
It doesn’t do any good for polling proponents to say we don’t understand the arcane techniques of polling. If the media still reports with the polls they want and not with those they don’t, then one cannot trust media-promulgated polls.
    Here we go…

  4. Won’t take much longer now and the truth will spill out. Last night on George Noory’s late night radio program “Coast to Coast AM” a first hour guest Angel Rivero, a New Orleans tour guide, railed with anger towards the actions of Mayor Nagin and Governess Blanco. She felt that relief supplies from FEMA and the Red Cross were purposefully blocked from entering the city by police in order to forcibly evacuate by HUNGER and THIRST the remaining survivors. A trucker bound for New Orleans with FEMA relief supplies called in to confirm her position. He was stopped along with all the other trucks in his convoy (he said something like 50 trucks!) from entering New Orleans the first Tuesday after the hurricane by a roadblock on the I 10 set up state police! MY GOD.
On another excellent radio program, Gerry Doherty, reported last week that the head of Red Cross aid for New Orleans was also stopped from rendering aid to its survivors by state authorities on the first Monday!
Now it becomes clear why Blanco did not declare a state of emergency in New Orleans until Friday, 4 days after the levies broke! And Bush is supposed to be at fault? The American people are catching on fast. Bless them for not eating this crap they have been served up with. Within 2 weeks George Bush may actually be recognized for his heroic efforts to convince Blanco to help FEMA save people. It remains to be seen, but of note on Rush Limbaugh’s show yesterday, the liberal left position has already shifted their arguments from Bush’s handling of the situation in NO to something more like, “he seemed disingenuous on his visits to the city.” God help us all. Looney tunes.

  5. Things must be working out OK for the forces of reason because the Maloderous Michigan Manatee of Mendacity ( Moore) feels he must make another of his full length feature conspiracy cartoons to convince us that reality is best when covered with a fresh steaming blanket of Moonbat Guano.

  6. WL…it’s not as though he doesn’t have plenty of fodder at his disposal, is it? Bush handled this entire incident abysmally from the outset.
We can still criticize incompetency and brazen narcissism in this country, right?
    P.S. And no I’m not a looney left automaton….

  7. Well, it looks like the left will have a great deal of difficulty reconciling that a Democrat governor and mayor could be so cruely inhumane in its handling of flood victims in NO, La.
“We can still criticize incompetency and brazen narcissism in this country, right?”
Don’t worry Jeff, the world is waking up to it.

  8. Good find Steve! Quite unusual isn’t it. Good ol’ Reuters letting everyone know that the President needs to go potty too. Classy.

  9. Holy Jumpin Goering…it appears from the comments here that people are finally starting to figure out that the word “pollster” is just the PC version of propagandist!!

  10. “P.S. And no I’m not a looney left automaton….”
Then what’s your point Jeff? Are you saying we can no longer mock/criticise the deep reeking mat of Guano spread by partisan media zealotry?
Frankly, I think you and the MSM wouldn’t be satified with Bush’s response if the man had been drown plugging the hole in the NOLA levee with his body…it would still have been “abysmal incompetency and brazen narcissism by a moron president”…I mean,…is this not what has been written and repeated endlessly for you to chant on cue by lety MSM confessors?…is this not what endless reruns of Manatee Moore’s “truths” demand of the automatron hordes who eat the magic guano? Is this not what you just reflexively regurgitated?
…on the other hand I see you’re very comfortable with the obvious virtual abandonment of responsiblity and leadership by a dithering basket case of a democrat governor and a witless race baiting democrat mayor….no abysmal moron job there eh Jeff? I mean this is what you imply by not stating the fact of the matter that there ARE 3 levels of government abd the one closet to the people is responsible for basic civi evacuation by default that truth says there is enough blame to go around….unfortunately moonbat dogma tells one that blame is all unidirectional and to be focused on political enemies regardless of fact or reason because that is what a conditioned automatron engaged in a “political cause” is expected to do.
As a matter of fact, I’d bet there would be no Katrina blame fixing at all if the results were identical but the bot in the whitehouse was a Dem…then there would be an uniform Dem chan of command at all 3 levels of this thing and that dictates there is NO blame game at all right Jeff?
But it’s Bush ( a republican/conservative/WASP/Christiabm) at the helm so the Moonbat guano must blanket all realities until this changes. I think the blame Bush reactionaries have a wee bit of an identity issue if they think their attitude is not part of the “automatron” Moonbat zealotry.
Jeff obvious;y missed or ignored the point of my post. I was ,ocking the partisan zealotry in North America that can make a political or race issue out of a antural disaster and read sinister conspiracies into the matter…thank you for helping me prove my point Jeff.
BTW: Jeff do you think the money the Feds are dumping into NOLA will be used to renew the city? Do you think they were better off with the ghettos before the storm removed them? Is there ANY positive out come that will result from a Bush admin direction on post disaster policy? Or is it all a racist plot?

  11. WL: Jeff’s right. You’re wrong. It was passive genocide. Bush should be held responsible as he himself has said and arrested along with the nursing home operators. Check the White House statement 2 days before the hurricane.
    For Immediate Release
    Office of the Press Secretary
    August 27, 2005
Statement on Federal Emergency Assistance for Louisiana
The President today declared an emergency exists in the State of Louisiana and ordered Federal aid to supplement state and local response efforts in the parishes located in the path of Hurricane Katrina beginning on August 26, 2005, and continuing.
The President’s action authorizes the Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), to coordinate all disaster relief efforts which have the purpose of alleviating the hardship and suffering caused by the emergency on the local population, and to provide appropriate assistance for required emergency measures, authorized under Title V of the Stafford Act, to save lives, protect property and public health and safety, or to lessen or avert the threat of a catastrophe in the parishes….
Specifically, FEMA is authorized to identify, mobilize, and provide at its discretion, equipment and resources necessary to alleviate the impacts of the emergency.

  12. FEMA to the Rescue
[On seeing the suffering caused by Hurricane Katrina and its aftermath, a close friend of mine contacted his local FEMA office to offer his services as a volunteer. He was told to report the following morning for an Orientation Class. All volunteers, he was told, must complete this class before being sent into the disaster area. My friend kindly provided me with a copy of the class schedule. I have reproduced the first two pages of the schedule below.]
Week One: The Volunteer as Citizen
    Day 1: Diversity Awareness
The area affected by Hurricane Katrina includes a diverse population of many ethnicities, national origins, immigrations statuses, and faith traditions. In carrying out relief work, it is important that our workers and volunteers exhibit proper sensitivity to relief recipients from all backgrounds. Volunteers will undergo appropriate training, including the privilege walk, basic Spanish-language instruction, and brief study of passages from the Quran, the Bhagavad Gita, the Dhammachakkappavattana Sutra, and the collected speeches of Marcus Garvey.>>> more

  13. “It was passive genocide.”
Yessss and the sky is a deep paisley and electric pink today as the moonbat flocks circle the neon blue sun on planet goof.
The fact that there is absolutely NO imperical evidence that you can take to a court and make that charge stick means nothing in a moonbat society…you just make up reality to fit the accusations as you go, no need of evidence getting in the way…so as far as I’m concerned, dilusional paranoia is what passes for moonbat reality.
Tighten up the tinfoil caps kiddies..another strom’s coming…another storm another opportunity for official “passive genocide” muh-waa ha ha ha ha ha ha ( sinister laugh)…Haliburton and Bush are gonna getcha….run for cover you FXXK-Witted goofs.
