Partying Liberals were treated Thursday night to the incredible sight of Belinda Stronach, Canada’s new human resources minister, and Tim Murphy, the Prime Minister’s chief of staff, dancing atop a speaker at an Ottawa bar. The tune? “Material Girl,” by Madonna. The lyrics to that song include these memorable, and some would say fitting, words: “Some boys kiss me, some boys hug me, I think they’re OK, If they don’t give me proper credit, I just walk away. They can beg and they can plead, But they can’t see the light. That’s right, ‘Cause the boy with the cold hard cash is always Mr. Right.”
When asked for reaction, Liberal members present at the bash responded stiffly.

“When asked for reaction, Liberal members present at the bash responded stiffly.”
We stand on guard for thee, indeed.
They NEED to have a good time. The don’t last forever
test
Nothing New
Just another woman in a mans game
clutching at straws
They responded “stiffly” when asked for reaction to not having an election, or to the table dancing?
They had no choice, neither of these moonbats were granted there wings yet.
Funeral would be more apt…Im thinking these guys are going down next election…call the grave diggers…there epithet, Kate said no more cussing.
Not too bad Kate:
But at this exact moment of time my Saturday Belinda
satire is currently leading you 14 to 6.
Belbimbo Strumpet is still showing the same class that got her to the peak of success in the CPC. With any luck she may be able to sleep her way to the leadership of the Social credit Party.
LOL! How incredibly tacky – too bad a photo didn’t come with the article.
We are better off without her. Apparently the LPC is shipping her off to Labrador right after Mr. Scary leaves. This is either a brilliant plan OR a test run in what they perceive to be a locked-in seat. Should be interesting to watch. Unfortunately, coverage of the maritimes is even worse than coverage for the west – I’m not having much luck finding anything. Suggestions, anyone?
Conservatives should be embarrassed that BS made it as far as she did in the CPC.
Can anyone tell me what the substance of her political, social or fiscal policies were (are)?
Were they obviously Conservative?
Can Conservatives recognize someone who stands for what they believe in? Or did they fall for her because she is photogenic?
‘photogenic’.
Is that a code word for well endued?
Kate;
For the good of our country I would like thru a third party to discuss
The possibility of a tone down of opinions of Canadians that is being posted
On your blog..
If we can get a turn around of the damaging comments that are hurting
The Liberal Party of Canada . We can then have room for more discussion
That way we can all save face . Let me assure you principles are at stake.
It is now possible thru a third party with negotisation room to be a Senator
Or ambassador to Japan or where you would like.
You can even be the caption of a big boat . That of course will require a
Move out of Canada so we do not have to pay tax..
Taxes are paid only by people that do not know how too file .
TM
Just kidding Kate
Love your Blog.
Pm
PS
I think Peter looks scary in rubber boots . That is the hidden agenda . the PC are going
To issue rubber boots to all Western Canadians so they can chase sheep.
Oops that is now the plan of Liberal Party. Do not tell
Belinda.
trauma alert. AC site – comments suspended.
on every blog I clicked.
This isn’t funny anymore.
noticed that too, but I think it has to do with some of the Clark commentary. Awful touchy stuff, and I don’t blame AC if he’s deleting some of it.
All the comments have been suspended at Coyne’s blog – vanished into the ether.
Lemme get this straight: every news organization in the country reports on the Grewal tape (hell, even Mike Duffy identified Murphy on that tape, and on national TV), but it is Coyne that is getting sued. And not over what he wrote on his blog (all that is still there).
wtf
I disagree, Candace. This was never funny.
I still don’t see AC being shut down over this threat. I think the lawsuit threat is a shot across the bow at Asper. We’ll see if he alters course. Posts had been deleted before being suspended altogether. I’m not a lawyer, but some of the Clark commentary strayed into actionable territory. My 2 coppers.
Then again Ed, I thought Miriam Bedard was off her head a year ago. Absolutely nothing would surprise me now.
A. Cooper: I don’t mind if he is deleting stuff that he personally finds objectionable; hell, he has edited a part out of one of my comments when I crossed a line a few weeks ago. No problem, it’s his swimming pool and I don’t expect him to let anyone pee in it (this is the first I have mentioned it). However, for all the comments to be shut down is very odd indeed. I see that he has had a couple of posts with over 1000 comments in the last week; perhaps he needs to go over all of them to make sure that he isn’t being sued by Tim Murphy over a comment in his blog.
Dammit, where’s my tinfoil hat?
Ed
http://robot_guy.blogspot.com
Oh great, I go see a movie and the world goes to hell. What Clark commentary?
Who is suing AC?
AC is being sued by Tim Murphy, the Prime Minister’s Chief of Staff (aka the guy on the Grewal tape).
Freedom of the Press has now been killed.
Dead is Freedom of the Press.
Killed by the junta now controlling Canada.
Blogs are next.
Canada is now in the grip of tyranny.
Canadian blogs may be shut down, but will they also shut down the internet in Canada?
You couldn’t make it up, could you.
It’s not even a joke. It’s a disgrace; a tragedy.
she is taking the same act to the LPC that she did in the CPC. In the CPC it was a breath of fresh air…given its image…I dont think it will play as well for her in the LPC.
The act, when done twice, begins to wear thin. This is unless you believe it is absolutely genuine. Which if this is who she is, unvarnished, then other questions would be raised. Because she’ll be doing this in a few years as well.
10 reasons to hate Belinda Strobach
10. She proved that everyone has its price, and it’s her fault we’re still stuck with Jean Lapierre in Quebec.
09. She made the demonstration that politicians cannot be trusted, and it’s her fault we’re still stuck with Jean Lapierre in Quebec.
08. She strengthened our belief of what we think about Ontarian women, and it’s her fault we’re still stuck with Jean Lapierre in Quebec.
07. She reminded us that even an idiot can make a grown man cry, and it’s her fault we’re still stuck with Jean Lapierre in Quebec.
06. She will appear in the dictionary as an example for the expression “double-crosser”, and it’s her fault we’re still stuck with Jean Lapierre in Quebec.
05. She cuckolded more than 10 million Canadians in one single move, and it’s her fault we’re still stuck with Jean Lapierre in Quebec.
04. She is the living proof that all blondes are beyond hope, and it’s her fault we’re still stuck with Jean Lapierre in Quebec.
03. She confirmed that, sometimes, a great body and a small brain go together, and it’s her fault we’re still stuck with Jean Lapierre in Quebec.
02. She was the first blond scoundrel to get a standing ovation at the House of Commons, and it’s her fault we’re still stuck with Jean Lapierre in Quebec.
01. She is called Belinda Stronach, she is a Liberal, and it’s her fault we’re still stuck with Jean Lapierre in Quebec.
Re AC…the clark stuff got out of hand when I last saw it. I am sure he will properly admonish those who posted….
As far as questions of if he is liable….I would think it would only be if he did nothing about them…he doesnt pre edit.
Neither does Kate. But Kate you would know the rules you need to operate a blog under…any insight?
Oh my God what Clark are you people talking about?
Rod,
I think if you had not read it it is not worth producing on this site…out of respect for our host, one host has become disgusted enough with it.
I would leave it alone unless Kate opens a thread on it. IMHO
Joe who?
Did someone watching this dance of the material girl tell Belinda her “Freudian slip” was showing?
Nawwwww guess not, can’t expect a room full of kleptocrats to seize the Socratic irony in the celestial truth of that moment…..souless beings miss a lot….but focus on materialism will do that….pehaps the stiff looks were from to many stiff drinks.
The comments on Coyne’s site seem to be up again except those on the Smoking Tape posts. Some of us are rallying around Coyne, and whatever Clark commentary you’re referring to it seems unlikely that comments are Coyne’s site are being targeted considering some comments I’ve read at many other sites.
Damned time zones. Candace left a comment on my site at 3 a.m. EST and an Ottawa blogger and I are trying to rally around Coyne but this being the Victoria Day weekend and all it’s uphill work.
Wake up, Kate! (Um, I mean that literally. See previous paragraph.) We’re way beyond “Three wrongs” — the stakes have been raised and we need the cavalary.
This blog downed previously by Liberal tyranny:

Please verify?
Boy did you cream me with your Belinda satire versus
my Belinda satire.
The last time I really took Count notice, (eighth
comment above), I had you on the ropes with a 14 to
6 lead. Now I see it was only the old
“rope a dope” trick you were using.
Now I find to my chagrin, that at this moment,
I am on the losing end of the scorecard 36 to 14.
Come on folks,
The Clark comments were no more bizarre than what has been written on many Blogs about BS. Some newbie guy posted comments about a book on Clark.
All comment sections were suspended by AC. I wasn’t lurking at the end but I’m certain my comment about Clark becoming the next Governor-General was not cause for the sudden closing. Unless….
Is it just me but it seems chillier this spring?
maz2 – Verified. Also, Blogs Canada was hit due to similarities in design with official Candian government sites. PolSpy took the lead in that defense.
I don’t think it would be considered out of place here for someone to explain to us late sleepers what this Clark thing is about. Who said what?? A hint even?? Please.
This is a suggestion only to those posting as guests here. I admit I was speculating AC may have shut down comments because of the Clark stuff…I COULD BE WRONG…however he has in the past taken the group to task for comments that were in that realm, so I am GUESSING based on past history.
Given that it is a possibility, and that the comments were generated NOT about an existing book, but one that MAY be published…and that the comments were, i think it is fair to say, personal in nature with a healthy dose of conspiracy (a cabal of Alberta Conservatives operating in fear of a witchhunt)that is unproveable of undisputable when there is no evidence to challenge. In the intersts of fairness, mostly to the Host, I suggest we wait till the host rules on this.
In the mean time for those curious cats I would suggest that you ensure your emails are correct in your comments. Nothing prevents others from emailing you with private messages summarizing what they read.
I just think it is fair to both the party that was being discussed, and most importantly to the host of the blog. No need to break into her liquor cabinet unless she gives us some form of permission….especially while she sleeps….
Once again just my humble opinion.
“The comments on Coyne’s site seem to be up again except those on the Smoking Tape posts.”
Are you sure, folks? I tried a few momemnts ago and got nothing. Andrew seems like a nice guy. Why would he kill such a vibrant, well attended site and not post an explanation?
He could be enjoying the wonderful weather and not want things to get out of hand on either front (smoking tape or the other stuff while he cannot supervise)….Occums Razor, all things being equal the simplest explaination is the right one.
(Obligatory Kate content…it is her blog….) For example why hasnt Kate responded, is she being muzzled by the Jackboots of Internet Nazi’s…or is she sleeping in?
…unless one of Asper’s lawyers said “Kill it until we’ve had the chance to go over it.”
Whatever has happened, as Candace says it’s not funny. I can only hope that AC is preparing a rules of engagement post and will simply read everyone the riot act vis-a-vis making nasty comments.
The thought that we can’t sit around in a cyber living room kicking around passing thoughts on topics both random and specific is a little worrisome. Admittedly some are silly (a few of mine included), some are excellent; but most are good.
Has the long arm of the law (yes, the same law that sees nothing wrong with anything the Libs have done, ever) reached out to squelch or sanction our thoughts as well?
Hi STEPHEN:
“Occums Razor, all things being equal the simplest explaination is the right one.”
Actually, given what we know about certain people in the country, AC’s history of inflammatory columns and present lack of correspondence on this matter, the simplest explanation may be that he had “an accident”.
Let’s hope that’s just a bad joke on my part.
clearthinker,
I have read far worse conspiracy stuff on liberal blogs. The Clark stuff was weird and funny.
The fact that someone in the PMO is threatening legal action against AC confirms my belief that our justice system and administrative tribunals are being used to suppress rights and freedoms.
Judicial appointments based on political alignment? I damn well know that it is true.
OK, OK. I was kidding, folks! Just kidding. (At least I think I was…)
Clearthinker,
If it is the Murphy stuff I am Outraged. I didnt see anything in those comments that went over the line…in that it was discussing publically available information.
The question would then be whose legal resources would Murphy be using. If they are those of the Federal Government then it is even more offensive. At best he could use Liberal Party of Canada resources and SHOULD use his own personal resources. Anything other than that looks like an abuse of power and position.
Now if the argument went that it was because he was on non personal business then it is the Liberal party he could use, because this was about sustaining a particular party in government.
If it was the other stuff…well I have already made my opinion known…
For the country’s sake, lets hope that the reason is the latter and not one of a powerful government official using the legal system to protect himself from journalistic scrutiny and/or opinion. It goes with the Territory Tim, thats why they pay you the big bucks.
ANSELM:
Hi, I missed all of the Clark stuff except for a few comments at the very beginning.
Weird and funny seems like an appropriate way to describe them.
But if Andrew’s under pressure from either Asper or Martin’s attack dog lawyers, why would he leave the post itself and the links to all the Grewal stuff intact?
Right on, STEPHEN.
Abuse of position and power comes naturally to these jerks. After all, they have the best lawyers our money can buy — and I do mean buy — at their disposal.
If it all works out for Timmy, I sense a few new judgeships coming on…
Is there a link anywhere about AC being sued? Just wondering how people know, I havent seen anything except these comments.
