“Democrats need to embrace Hollywood because this is where they need to come to learn how to tell a story.” – Michael Moore*
“Republicans know that there is a massive population of people who are too stupid to vote, and that no one in their right mind would necessarily want them for their constituency anyway, except perhaps David Duke. However, these are hard times for the GOP, and they cannot afford to be choosy when it comes to registered voters. Republicans know that they may not be able to sway anyone with their ideas on domestic and foreign policy, or their views on the economy, but they do know that hatred and bigotry are great motivators. They get the ear of the leaders of these so called ‘family groups’ and Christian media watchdogs and warn them of the impending storm of gay ‘legitimization’ and they get them all riled up by telling them that gays are going to get married and move into their neighborhoods. As if a newly married gay couple would ever choose to live in a trailer park. They pump up these Bible thumping, cousin humping genetic mistakes with hot air and propaganda which sends them into a mullet fantasia of pink trianglesand rainbow flags, and convinces them that their tax dollars will be used to foot the bill for Elton John and George Michael’s wedding.
Hatred is a powerful motivator, and these Christian soldiers will march onward, fighting tooth and nail for the theoretical hand in marriage, to protect marriage. “You’ll get this bouquet when you pry it from my cold, dead fingers.” Although the Republican party doesn’t openly endorse prejudice, if it results in more votes, then no one is complaining. It really is genius, harnessing hatred in order to further your own political party. We wish that democrats would have thought of it first, but even if they had, the plan to introduce prejudice as an enlistment strategy doesn’t work with the ethical ideals of the party. Compassion really does block the way to power.
What is deeply distressing is the incredible numbers of people who are vehemently opposed to equality, and the need for them to deny equal rights to others simply because they cannot bear the thought of equality. It isn’t like anyone who is against marriage equality would be directly affected by the existence of it. Not unless they were part of the wedding industry, and then they could reserve the right to refuse service anyway. More likely, they would welcome the extra revenue. Gay marriage would create a huge boon, and it is doubtful anyone would turn away cold hard cash. Greed remarkably has no bias. This is evidenced in the way that Republicans will pander to this creepy Christ crowd and allow the asinine, the atrociously unfit and the morally repugnant to swell their ranks because it means more for them, and more is where it is at if you are a Republican. — Margaret Cho, comedian.

One thing I love about the Democrats is their tolerance and good will. As the above quote shows, they always assume the best of the motives and intelligence of their political opponents. They always assume that any political disagreement results from intelligent people of good will looking at complex situations and coming to different conclusions, unlike the knuckle-dragging Republicans who always assume the worst of their opponents, even stooping to questioning the patriotism of people like Michael Moore and Noam Chomsky. /sarcasm
yeah, the left is guilty in the worst way of the very things they decry.
fear the christians! fear the poor in the trailer parks!
they have been so misled by hollywood.
Margaret Cho just ensured that I will never listen to her hatred and bigotry again. And she’s accusing me of those things? What an ignorant bitch.
Yes hatered is a powerful motivator if your a moonbat.
Gee, there wouldn’t be any bitterness toward Middle America because the average person stubbornly refuses to grant her widespread success in showbiz, would there?
It seems to me Ms Cho was once heralded as The Next Big Thing (She’s Asian! She’s female! She’s a comic!) and now is virtually unknown apart from her political rants.
Although I remember Homer Simpson once described his phony Vietnam experience by claiming he was wounded at Margaret Cho. Hey, maybe Kerry should have used that one.
Peace in the Middle East
Fresh on the rant by Margeret Cho (remember her?) I was treated to this great article about the Arab Middle East by Austin Bay. Bay hits the nail on the head here: America’s reaction to 9-11 — specifically, its strategic…
The Dems and Hollywood liberals do seem to be doing a lot of Freudian projecting, eh? Accusing those they hate of being filled with hatred. Accusing those who are trying, however imperfectly, to defend us, of treason. And so on and so on and so on.
Should that be:
Margaret Cho, “comedian” ?
Regarding Margaret Cho
It really is genius, harnessing hatred in order to further your own political party. ~Margaret Cho That, woven into this tapestry of bile: “Republicans know that there is a massive population of people who are too stupid to vote, and…
What’s this about “mullet fantasia”? I’ll clue you in on something, I ran sound at an Indigo Girls concert last year and I’m here to tell you, the majority of the mullet wearing population seems to be pudgy Pat look-alikes holding hands in matching pant-suits and Ellen Degeneres t-shirts. I was surrounded by them and the hostility to my genitals was palpable.
Didn’t David Duke oppose Bush’s reelection?
It’s because of tantrums and name-calling flung by sour-grape leftists such as Moore, Streisand and their ilk, that intelligent people had only one choice in the last election — Bush. Gay marriage has nothing to do with equality. I asked my gay nephew who has been living with his partner for 15 years — why all of a sudden is this urge to be “married?” Not once in 15 years have they ever brought it up until leftist media placed it on their agenda this past year. Even John Kerry and John Edwards admitted they were against gay marriage during the debates, while George Bush said that he favored civil unions. Marriage is a Christian construct, that out of tradition, for thousands of years, has been between a man and a woman, the nucleus of a family. Why does the left suddenly want to destroy that christian tradition? Individual states are free to adopt “civil unions” for gay couples, but this is a state matter, as are marriage laws. Seems everything to libs is an “emotional” thing. Are they so incapable of using their mind to come up with rational, reasoned arguments. With the Left, it’s always like arguing with children.
Striesand’s newest rants
“Marriage is a Christian construct”
Ahh, since when? Nobody got married before 33 AD? When Jesus said, “Marriage is for a man and a woman” (I’m sure I’m paraphrasing), He wasn’t making it up on the spot. Marriage has been around in just about every civilization that’s ever existed, and I’ll bet before any recorded history started. And except for the odd freak show, it’s always been between a man and a woman.
Ms Cho – You use a large brush and paint with big strokes – with a preference apparently for black paint.
It so happens that the values defended by Republicans go deeper and are more profound than your rather trite caricature (of course – you are a comedian). Whether liberal secularists like it or not – there is a Christian culture and a Christian tradition that many people feel strongly about.
What I find ironical is that when you consider the erosion of “Christian observances” in society in general … the refusal of schools to stage Christmas pageants in predominantly Christian schools; the deletion of references to God in public ceremonies etc … the Christian Republican community shown considerable constraint.
Can you imagine if a Madam Tussauds equivalent in say Cairo or Damascus decided to use Diego Maradonna as a model for the prophet Mohammad? There would be fatwahs issued and bombs exploding faster than you could blink. I notice though you have nothing to say about the excesses, bigotries and injustices to be found in Islam.
Ms Cho you should take note of the last election result in the USA. The more scorn and hatred that was directed toward Bush, the more it galvanized the American public to rally around him and re-elect him. If these attacks on Christian traditions and values continue, I can guarantee there will be a similar reaction.
The founding peoples of the modern American and Canadian states were Christian. The institutional model was Christian in it’s values and tenets. I would argue that since Christianity is by the far the majority religion in both countries, it’s rites and traditions should be respected. Try going to Iran or Syria and bitching about excessive Islamic influences in society and you will be doing gags for your fellow prisoners.
Rather than attack what you perceive as Republican bigotry, try asking yourself what impels that attitude on the part of a minority of Republicans. If your religion was disrespected and mocked, your beliefs held up to ridicule – you would also likely become somwhat narrow and brittle. It’s called “being human”.
I know some of the people to whom you refer, and the majority are decent, caring people who like me are tiring of the relentless assault on their fundamental values.
