I Want A New Country

No pipelines and no rail lines.

Essentially, Justin Trudeau is telling investors not to put money into the A2A project because it won’t be able to withstand the ridiculous conditions for approval in Bill C-69. The chilling effect alone on investment should be enough to kill this project. Trudeau won’t even need to use C-69.

But don’t you concern yourself, Jason Kenney will be right on it with a strongly worded tweet.

    1. Okay, sorry for the rude language above it’s just that this sort of thing gets under my skin. For full disclosure when it comes to Alberta I have no direct skin in the game. I know a few people out west and that is it.

Canada is a bit player when it comes to emitting CO2. I have watched our countries share of global emissions drop from 2% in the early 2000’s down to 1.5% today. It will continue to drop for the foreseeable future as other countries increase their standard of living. Even if the oil sands were being exploited to their fullest capacity there is no way we could catch up. I can’t decide if Trudeau’s statement comes from a position of malicious control or wilful stupidity.

As an Ontarian I want Alberta oil. As a Canadian I want to see Alberta oil exported globally. My vote for a party that will support any initiative to get Alberta oil to market gets lost in the cacophony of ignorance and virtue signalling in my riding. Next election I will be actively working against any party that does not support getting western oil to the rest of Canada and to the world.

I hope you don’t mind the rant but this just isn’t right.

      1. As an Ontarian you speak for me. I have worked in Alberta and well aware how Albertans feel about the East lo these many decades.

      2. “I can’t decide if Trudeau’s statement comes from a position of malicious control or wilful stupidity.”

The answer, of course, is “Yes”.

      3. jgriffin316, “statement comes from a position of malicious control or wilful stupidity”.

BOTH! Plus a heavy sprinkling of narcissism! Butts and the Turd (funny how those two meanings are also closely related) Those two, plus the Liberal party in total, should be Charged, tried and convicted for not only destroying the economy, but also destroying the Alberta economy in particular. I’m also not really affected by the Alberta economy but care a great deal about the survival of Canada, and its ability to use and or export, valuable products. A prime minister that deliberately destroys the economy like this is guilty of treason as far as I am concerned!

    1. I am for Western Separation because Ontario and Quebec (the Maritimes to some extent also) are like abusive husbands, always smacking down the western provinces (except for Vancouver – they love Vancouver). And Saskatchewan and Alberta especially are like abused wives/women. We think if “we are only nicer to them, if we do as they ask, then they will stop hitting us”. This seems to be Jason Kenny’s and Scott Moe’s approach. Sorry folks, after 50 years of trying to be a good Canadian, I am NOT buying that BS anymore.
If the federal Liberal government tries to interfere with the Alaska to Alberta rail line, then I think serious approaches to President Trump after he is elected, should be made as to becoming a protectorate of the United States (only more productive than Puerto Rico).

      1. I would like to see us get rid of the federal level of government. No one in the country needs it. It costs a lot of money and does nothing for anyone. No one would miss it at all.

        1. How can the people of Western Canada separate from Ontario and Quebec when in order to separate we need the approval of the parliament of Canada. Quebec and Ontario will always have a Vito on our ability to live free in the west.

Trudeau and the liberals want to tax us into homelessness and force us to stop heating our homes. In order to buy popularity for himself with the dictatorships of the UN.

    1. I wholeheartedly agree with independence. However, our movement seems to be seriously off the rails (no pun intended) I went to the WEXIT website with the full intention of donating money but was very dismayed to find that they plan to run candidates federally.

      WHAT? Are you kidding me?

What do they actually think that will accomplish. Exactly the same thing that the Reform movement did in the 90s: Absolutely NOTHING! It might even precipitate the election of liarberals in Alberta with vote splitting in certain ridings. So Mr. Hill et al can sit their helplessly once again while Le Dauphin bends us over and gives it to us dry. I guess the bright side will be that they can gain a fully indexed pension. That’ll show ’em.

Nor should they run provincially at this juncture. That will only ensure an overwhelming NDP majority (with about 35% of the popular vote) in the next election.

What they should be doing is organizing a drive to hold a referendum (if Kenney actually follows through and passes citizen initiated referendum legislation) That would have a far greater impact and provide real impetus to independence. If the UCP ignores the results of the referendum (even if we fail to gain a plurality) then the hammer should be dropped provincially and go full tilt on an independence party. NOT AT THE FEDERAL LEVEL

      1. There are also two Provincial parties, one in Saskatchewan (Buffalo Party) and the Wildrose Independence Party in Alberta. The federal party, Maverick, is to send a message and the provincial parties are to influence the governments of the Alberta and Sask. It’s a good approach. If Buffalo gets some seats in the Oct. election in Sask., and Maverick gets some in the next federal election, whenever that may be, it could prove to be a warning to Premier Kenney to get moving on that firewall. That is what I hope, anyway.

      2. Might also be an idea instead of running candidates under their own banner, to endorse candidates in existing parties on a riding by riding basis, the way the Democratic Socialist Party does in the US.

Kenny might have to take notice if half of his caucus were defacto members of the WEXIT party. I just hope enough people here in MB realize that our only viable future is as part of a free west, not the last remaining whipping boy of the Laurentian Imperialists.

  1. Canada is simply no longer a soveriegn nation – we are a vassal state to the Soros regime

    1. Yep, pretty much the Soros regime owns this clownocracy…

      Prosit!!

      Hans Rupprecht, Commander in Chief
      1st Saint Nicolaas Army
      Army Group “True North

  2. Don’t worry. Our Great Leader is going to provide jobs for everybody in Alberta building solar panels for Quebec.

  3. As an expat Texan living in Alberta – I can’t even begin to fathom the malice that your government seems to hold for the West. Yes, we get mocked for “flyover country” in the US, but the response of Ottowa to the West seems punitive. My vote is Wexit away – then I can move back to the US (assuming that’s the way you chose to go) without having to hire moving vans. If you don’t decide to join South of the border, an independent Alberta still seems better than a subservient one.

    1. An independent Alberta will never fly. Many reasons, biggest being what system of government? Too hard to go back to scratch and create one. Using the same one they currently have (Commonwealth leftover) is a recipe for another disaster. The only recourse that will work is to join the states. But the media has programmed many and their distaste for anything American is well rooted in their psyche.

      1. You guys should come on down. We’re not nearly as bad as the CBC paints us to be, and we generally think of Canadians as “those nice folks up North” – which is much kinder than most Canadians think about us, TBH.

        1. ExpetTexan – professional mining engineer, 20 years experience. If not for family ties, would have been an Alaskan as of 5 years ago.

Heading to the US is my escape hatch too, if things get so bad here the house is in jeopardy.

        2. ExpatTexan, I’m not sure why anyone from Texas chooses to live in Canada, but don’t confuse the mindless sheeple that inhabit this country as the only ones living here. You’ll find most SDA posters are very pro American, the sheeple have been programmed to “dislike” the US from childhood. They are unable to think for themselves even as adults. It is said that a mind is a terrible thing to waste, but of course, even if you have a mind, if you choose not to use it with critical thought, its still a waste. I haven’t seen your moniker here before, so welcome to SDA.
Having input from “thinking” US citizens such as yourself, and Kenji, Old Bruin and others, gives us a broader perspective on things US related, as it seem that rational thought is actually rare these days.

      2. The US Bill of Rights and the US Constitution would be one hell of good start

      3. Well even if they won’t have us,I am all for stealing the US Constitution,as it has served the people well, longer than any other civil agreement.
        It works.
Canada is falling, because we allowed Government to grow ,too long and too large.
The Bureaus Motto,is ‘If it is not Permitted,It is Forbidden.”
And I have far more in common with my cousins to the south, than I do in common with our comrades to the east.
Our new nation had better have tight defined limits on the States power over the individual,or we fail right out of the gate..
So many Canadians believe “Free Health care” even when half their income is taxed away to pay for it.
And believe”World Class Healthcare” as it kills more of us than motor vehicle accidents..
think about it,6 months into the Covid Crisis and they still have no working agreed upon treatment for covid sufferers..

    2. For independence, I actually prefer a New Dominion with full membership in the British Commonwealth and loyalty to HM. I believe this for pragmatic reasons and not just sentimental.

However, should my fellow Albertans decide to join the US, I will fully and completely welcome their choice as the next best alternative.

BUT! If Joe Biden wins and there is President Kamala in a few months. HELLS NO!

      1. Lethbridge was founded by Americans. Originally named Fort Hamilton (AKA Ft. Whoopup) it was a trading post that provided needed goods to the area – fire water was only a minor item. Afraid that the Oregon Treaty might become a moot point, the NWMP was formed and sent out to make sure the territories did not become American. Southern Alberta is already semi-American, it would make for an easy transition. Besides, I would love to move to Maui without having to jump through the INS/DHS hoops.

        1. Excellent on the history! Fort Whoop Up was founded by Americans and Nicholas Sheran, an American, sunk the first coal mine in Western Canada at Lethbridge. However, we also sent the highest per cent of our population to fight and die in the mud of France in the Great War owing to the fact that the majority of our population was British Isles (like the rest of Alberta) and loyal to our heritage.
You are right about us already being semi-American. There was an article in McLean’s back in the early 80s that even called us “quasi-American” The very significant Mormon community in Southern Alberta with its strong ties to Utah and Southern Idaho also greatly influence that. We have more in common with Great Falls, Montana than Niagara Falls, Ontario

Please, my fellow SDAers, do misunderstand me. I LOVE THE UNITED STATES! But, I believe that there is an opportunity for us to do something quite amazing.

My son goes to school in the US and I too would LOVE to be able to go to Maui without the hoops (I’d also love to have the funds to do it!)

However, the US also has produced the likes of Saint Barack, Sleepy Joe and Cruella Pelosi. If they get all the power they lust after: WATCH OUT

        2. Loyalty to an inbred left wing family of perverts and whack jobs? I’m sorry. No.
The queen will be dead in a few years and the rest are dingbats.

          1. Perhaps not. I am more concerned about loyalty to British heritage. A heritage that has served us extremely well. The monarchy, unfortunately, is all that is left of our connection to that heritage. Our rulers from New France have been trying (successfully) to undo the Plains of Abraham for over 200 years. They have even managed to put a thinly disguised Fleur-de-Lis as our flag. Just wait until HM dies and Le Dauphin puts the slimy visage of his not-dead-enough father on our worthless $20 bill with his rictus grin. Delighting in the carnage he inflicted. (It will actually end up being the $20 Trillion note if Le Dauphin gets his way)
Charles is a left wing buffoon. Andrew…ahem…moving on. Anne? Edward (as in whatever happened to Edward?) William definitely seems like a pretty decent fellow.

          2. IDNF, I fully agree, I left the UK 38 years ago, to escape. Chris in the Bridge above, says he prefers the Commonwealth system, but how can anyone support this system that can control and impoverish us so much, by an idiot that hates the west. I’m in BC, and I would wholeheartedly support a Wexit, Even more, I would support joining the US in a heartbeat. Yeah, it has its problems like anywhere, and yeah it has the obumma pelosi crew, but we have the turd and butts. Which is the better choice? Yep. even with democratic nasties, its still way better than what we have in Ottawa. I came here with hope, and the promise of a fresh start. I was well aware of the direction that the UK was going, but am still stunned as to how far its gone, and its still traveling the same direction at full speed. Now Canada is becoming the same as what I tried to leave behind. If I go further west, I end up in sh*thole countries again, so the only options I see are a Wexit, (doubtful) or moving to Texas, and I’m to old to uproot again, so I’ll hope for annexation to the US. Because the Turd won’t play nice with the US, maybe they’ll steal the west from Canada. Ahh, but I can dream can’t I?

      2. I agree. I don’t want to leave Canada cause I hate it. But because I want to save a little piece of it. I would keep the BNA Act. Keep her HM. Would toss in a Triple E senate. Set number of MPs, and toss the Charter. The advantage of this is no big constitution fights, everybody would be familiar with the system, and the military all swears oaths to the Queen so solving one possible problem.

  4. Kenney is performing about as good as I expected. I am surprised though he hasn’t prostrated himself in front of the Liberals and begged indulgences yet. The week is early I suppose. Things will have to get much worse before we start electing politicians with a spine. Currently, anyone who thinking anything remotely confrontational is castrated by the media before they even speak. Look at what we have leading the federal party. O’Toole??? Why? because the media and the elites think he will make a perfect little punching bag. There was little ground support, but since when have they cared what you think? The point was to put another Clark, Stanfield, Campbell, McKay in opposition.

  5. If The Buffalo Party doesn’t get in as official opposition this election we will have failed our children and future generations. We must rid ourselves of this broken confederation the quicker the better!

    1. No.
The environmentalists and the indigenous of the Yukon outnumber the hearty, outdoorsy libertarians.
Remember… they didn’t put up much of a fight to save the fully-approved Mackenzie Valley natural gas pipeline.

    2. I’m late to this party, but have you ever lived in the Yukon? Most people who do, work for .Gov. The rest are natives and a few private sector jobs that “serve” .Gov. The population was only 25000 when I lived and worked there. Most are in Whitehorse…..17000 at the time.

  6. The Trudeau government’s destruction of the West and Canada’s economy is getting very obvious such that even low information voters are starting to clue in. They are staring to sense that something is very wrong in Canada.
    WEXIT!

    1. I saw that when that ventriloquist’s dummy Garneau announced the west coast tanker ban.

  7. If Trump says it is AK to ND, Trudeau cannot block without jeopardizing trains running through Windsor.
6 months and if construction has not started, trains stop going through Detroit.

  8. What kind of country is this if you can’t even build a railway. You know, that thing heralded as enabling the creation of Canada, that thing romanticized in Lightfoot’s epic song. The “last spike” will literally be the last spike if Canadians don’t wake up to the madness and disease that is the Trudeau government.

    1. You, of course, know the answer to your rhetorical question. It was pretty well answered in January of 2020. Railways are for blocking and the burning of pallets, doncha know!

  9. I’ve long concluded that Prinz Dummkopf is waging war on western Canada. He and his loathsome Laurentian apologists see Albertans as people who need to learn that we are a conquered and defeated people and should live and act accordingly.

  10. Maybe Justin is looking to promote WEXIT.
The current Liberal government is the worst thing to happen to Canada many, many years.
I think Justin and his team are courting disaster. What I don’t know is why.

  11. Hmmm okay first off Trump… He would recognize the economic viability of a rail line. Even if it only effected my state, Alaska, it would have serious impact. Add in all the variable from Canada (hell Yukon might actually have a positive population growth) and it should be a no brainer. It would establish a major service corridor for both countries and allow development that would service both our countries. Hell even rail tourism could come to a nice level of coin. The stated bulk items they mentioned falls far short of what is there (i.e noble element ores for processing etc.. former Alaska governor Murkowski had a presentation on this if someone wants to look it up on the net). The only reason it’s not already happened is initial costs and a multi decade period for payoff.

Trump is canny enough to know the Canadian Liberal reaction. His announcement is near the equivalent of trolling Trudeau. So…. what is his game plan and end point with this project? I won’t guess at his actual IQ but he isn’t a fool and would probably play poker better than chess. Your next federal election is ’23? Could Trudeau be removed sooner? Could other national aspects come into play? I don’t know you southerners politics to well but Trump is cagey and can be downright Machiavellian when he wants to be.

    1. No argument JD. But you’re talking as though Socks the magic pony gives a tinkers cuss about what happens outside of those who elected him.

I’d like to think it’s simple brainlessness. I suspect he wants to go down in history as the last PM of a united Canada. You know, remembered as finally doing something his dad didn’t do. (no snide jokes about Maggie allowed.)

    2. In our form of government Trudeau can be removed from power as early as Wednesday or Thursday of this week. He leads a minority Parliament, who have less seats than the Opposition parties have. If they had the balls, they could vote him out this week. They do not, however, for a multitude of reasons.

  12. Westerners need to tell the east to FO and try and stop us. What would PM Weirdo II do? Sick the courts on you? The RCMP? Haha.
You know what you say to the bastard: Just watch us!

  13. Always the same thing from the wannabe separatists and whiners. You claim you want to separate, but you don’t even have your own provincial police force. Long story short, all the folks with guns in your provinces answer to the FEDS, not you. Cancel the RCMP police services contract, establish your own Alberta or Saskatchewan provincial police force and I might take you seriously.

Jacques Parizeau knew how to do a separation, and Le P’tit Gars took him dead seriously. But you lot? Not a chance.

    1. CGH you are so out of touch with the West. For instance, the police forces of the lower mainland and the valley are mainly all city/municipal forces such as the new police force for the City of Surrey which is, after Vancouver, the largest city of B.C., the Victoria city force, the Abbotsford, Mission, Delta, ad infinitum … the only Fed forces in B.C. are now up country and in small cities, et al.

Your insistence on the subject of ‘provincial’ police forces reminds of a few relocated Maritimers I have met.

  14. The moron doesn’t realize that his inheritance will eventually be worth nothing if his tyrannical regime keeps going. And borrowing to support the Bananada peso won’t change its value one iota, but will make it worse. Further, no one will allow the citizenry to escape elsewhere because the currency will be worthless (sort of like Venezuela). All the virtue signalling in the world will be seen for its real value when the country dies.

  15. The hatred I feel for Fidel and Maragret’s vile offspring and the depraved scum pretending to be ministers of the Crown knows no bounds. Anyone who votes liberal belongs to TWANLOC. Free the West. Vive le Québec libre and may the Maritimes and Ontario turn to wastelands

  16. Canadians have been suffering with Covid, job losses and economic uncertainty. The A2A announcement by Trump was a rare good news story. Gave you a hopeful feeling. Trudeau’s threatened cancellation destroys that small good news victory. Trudeau needs to be run out of Canada on a rail– and Butts and Freeland should accompany him. Worst Prime Minister ever. They are pathetic. Also pathetic are those buzzards in the media who support them.

  17. THIS is why I bought property in Belize. British commonwealth country, the natives speak English fluently. I belonged to the reform party way back in the day. I’m tired, just so tired of the bullshit. There will never be a wexit. I’m gettin out while the gettings good and my kids and grandkids will thank me one day

  18. Canada began with a railway.
Canada now officially ends with(out) a railway.
    The show’s over, go home.

  19. Cory used to own the Waters Edge Pub in Priddis Alberta. We go there quite often for Wings on Wednesdays.

Turdeau absolutely hates the west. His actions are filled with, jealousy, envy and hate. Wexit is starting to gain traction again as Premiere Kenny is too timid to take him on.

I would start with cutting the propane supply to the east this winter. Its the only way to get the people motivated to get involved and put pressure on Butts and turdeau.

  20. Boot the RCMP out of Alberta.
    Install a provincial police force.
    Go ahead with construction.
If there is any crap from protesters or Ottawa use that police force.
