Why this blog?
Until this moment I have been forced to listen while media and politicians alike have told me "what Canadians think". In all that time they never once asked.
This is just the voice of an ordinary Canadian yelling back at the radio -
"You don't speak for me."

My name is Roy Rogers. This is my service dog named Bullet and my service horse named Trigger.
Do any of you airline passengers have a problem with that ?
You with the red beard. Keep your hands where I can see them! I’m what passes for the law in these parts.

(Kate’s service animal is a motorcycle, and the dogs fit in the saddlebags. )
This is my emotional support Wolverine called Benny. Well your kid doesn’t need 2 hands lady get over it. Or I want to bring my emotional support skunk called Peppi with me. No, no he still has his glands intact. These people are all nuts, but even more insane is the idiot judges and legislators that permit this and aid and abet insanities.
So does this new proposed law on Conversion Therapy criminalize all those who are doing gender reassignments on 5-6 year old children. Because it should.

When do we finally say we have gone beyond? People who think they need an animal of some sort every hour of every day need stronger meds and more therapy.

i want to bring on a service burro. I’ll also identify as a buisness class passenger who pays economy class prices because 2019!
So what if the 100 pound horse has to take a dump? I don’t think I’d like to be saddled with that smell for the rest of the flight. And will this silly carousel spur on more exotic animal rides or will someone with sanity rein in the madness?
Neigh, I’d almost rather get on a plane full of Chinese peasants.
It’s neigh time to rein in this nonsense.
I have a difficult enough time navigating the narrow aisle, what with overflowing fat passengers, excess baggage, and 18” laptops jutting off tray tables … without dodging aisle-apples on the way with my last place Group C- boarding mates.
How do you properly restrain a horse in a cabin set up to restrain people? You’d need a heavy harness, approved tie-down hard points and straps. It doesn’t look like that is properly addressed in the linked DOT guidance document.
Edited for brevity from the link: “DOT’s disability regulation … allows airlines to deny boarding to an animal that poses a direct threat to the health or safety of others. Finally, with respect to containment, … DOT’s disability regulation does not clearly specify whether or how airlines may restrict the movement of service animals in the cabin … ESAs may pose greater in-cabin safety risks than other service animals.”
Typical regulatory mumbo jumbo. To summarize, Horses are approved to be transported in the cabin but the airline can deny boarding if cabin safety is compromised.
Well duh! Was the original draft written in crayon? It’s 100 pounds of meat and bone, unrestrained, in a cabin full of people. If Joe Traveller has to stow his laptop for the safety reasons during takeoff and landing than the tiny horse damn well better be tied down as well.
I should have added to my original comment that the DOT has created a problem for the airlines. Rather than the check in agent being able to say federal regulations do not allow horses in the cabin, the now irate passenger can focus their anger on “airline policy” that does not allow horses in the cabin.
If that were my ship and I heard the clip-clop of hooves coming down the jet bridge I wouldn’t push back from the gate until the horse was effectively restrained and I expect airlines would support that decision. The safety of my passengers and crew takes precedent over the comfort of one person.
The travelling public are worse off with a regulator like that.
And how will this affect the 90 second evacuation criteria?
I can just imagine the utter chaos when the aircraft hits some serious turbulence or a big downdraft.
A 100 lb Animal flying through the aircraft cabin hooves a kicking… Might be enough to take out a window or your head – Lovely. No one needs a Flipping animal inside the Aircraft cabin…Need to be calmed.?
Take a Valium ffs.
Gonna have dinner with my bro-inlaw tonight. Just retired from Emirates Air after 10 yrs in Dubai, should make for an interesting conversation.
Horses are flight animals. If the are startled they run and calming them down can be quite difficult. Usually they run themselves into exhaustion. How does that work on an aircraft? Also a horse can control its pucker like domesticated animals. Road apples at 35,000 feet – I think not. And when the diet is low protein, low energy, grass there is a lot of it.
I bet they taste better than soccer player.
Just wait until African elephants become service animals.
