  1. Now the save the planet crew is demanding that 50% of all landmass be void of humans. The real fact is that 95% of the world’s population lives on less than 10% of the land. Obviously, these people really do not understand math. Most of the planet’s surface is covered in water in the form of oceans. The remaining landmass on Earth amounts to approximately 29% of the surface. Of this remaining 29%, deserts of all types constitute an estimated 33% or one-third of Earth’s total landmass. That means humans occupy less than 3% of the surface of the planet.

    It is just curious how these people think we even possess the capability to change the climate. Now they want laws that say we cannot occupy 50% of the landmass when we only occupy less than 3%. I’m not sure if they flunked math class

  2. the USA has the only comprehensive monitoring system, and a 2010-11 study showed that 89% of USA stations didn’t meet NASA’ own standards. And yet, there are fools that post in here who “believe” in goreBULLwarming

  3. Anthony Watts – Watts Up with That – found the same thing in his independent study of US weather stations. The data is seriously compromised. It’s a gigantic fraud and anyone paying attention knows it. “Homogenizing” the data in one direction only.

    1. Data has been homogenized out of existence. Data is of a certain and specific time and place. Once it has been homogenized it is no longer data. There is no real data going into computer models and there is certainly none coming out. What comes out is only and exactly what the programmers want to come out. “Gigantic fraud” does not begin to cover this. We need new words.

    2. That’s the the telltale thumbprint on the scales now isn’t it? That the “smoothing” or “homogenizing” of data ALWAYS goes in one direction … UP. Higher and higher temperatures.

    Skeptics have asked, and the Bureau threw out the whole dataset to avoid the audit. They admit they won’t describe their methods

    How do government agencies get away with this? Why haven’t our elected officials stepped in and summarily FIRED every bureaucrat who lacks candor and transparency? Our children’s lives depend of cheap, available, energy … and HONEST science … not CAGW hysteria.

  6. By the way … I LOVE the steel trailer parked next to this OFFICIAL weather station … piled high with rotting trash. And what do we know about rotting/composting vegetation ? It generates heat. Enough heat to KILL harmful microbes. Yeah … let’s park the steel compost wagon next to the weather station. Ohhhhhhh mammmmmmaaaaaaa … !!!!!! It’s getting sooooooooo HOT!

  7. Such stations are necessary.
    For the narrative.
    The Emperors New Clothes are revealing so many Fat Ugly Impotent Emperors.
    Far too many are “civil servants”.
    The Cult of Calamitous Climate has all the earmarks of a Government orchestrated panic.
    Emotion and belief lead the way, so much for evidence based policy making.

  9. Years ago, when they first talked about AGW, I seriously followed the siting discussions.
    Even naively believing that these people were serious scientists, I discovered a very simple problem, urbanization around universities.
    Most measuring devices were situated in universities convenient to the researchers. Most universities were built outside of the cities they served, with plenty of greenery. As time went on, they became surrounded by suburbia, with apartments and shops to serve the ever increasing student population. And devices that used to measure in the bucolic surroundings of the universities, gradually started to measure the effects of urban heat islands.
    That single effect was sufficient to explain all the global warming measured. This was even before conscious efforts at faking the data, by removing rural sites and replacing them with sites in airports, and making sure nearly all sites fail their own advertised requirements.
    That was pretty much when I lost any interest in anything anyone had to say based on those data.

  10. Weather stations thus sited are there for the pretense of science for the illiterate and innumerate who believe that better minds than their own are looking after their interests. Those in the know have concluded that they are there to kick up the temperature and stoke the hysteria that produces sugar-daddy politicians to shovel grant money and pimp hysteria accordingly. Since most politicians are lawyers they fall mostly into the category of those confident in the benevolence of the station “managers”.

  11. Trying to compare thermometer records from different decades in different locations is a mug’s game.

    More emphasis should be placed on natural vegetation cycle dates, such as flowering, full foliation, etc. Those are harder to contaminate and can be more easily compared directly.

    That Aussie weather station looks like it would need about a C deg subtracted from its records, at least since they cosied the screen up to the fence and that blue tarp.

    Can’t be as bad as DCA, I think they have a hair dryer ventilating that one.
